Japanese restaurants!!!

wow, i'm quite surprised that there is no existing thread dedicated solely to Japanese restaurants.

so let's talk about the Japanese restaurants we loved and didn't love, specific items on their menu that you either recommend or not. basta anything Japanese! so welcome dito from formal restaurants (i.e., Inagiku) to mid-level (i.e., Omakase) to Japanese fusion (i.e., John & Yoko).

go ahead and post!!! para we can help each other out.

INAGIKU & KIMPURA are my favorites.  Everything on the menu is good. 
At KIMPURA, I like the steak, & scallops, & Hamachi Sashimi.   
At INAGIKU, the sushi & sashimi are the best. 

John & Yoko -- puede na, I eat only the sushi there. (  I find the acoustics bad though. Ingay!)
Omakase -- at that Park Bldg in the Greenhills Shopping Center -- IMO, forgettable. 
Teriyaki Boy -- never ever again, mag Hizon's Ensaymada na lang ko.

has anybody tried Omakase's ramen? i've read some reviews na hindi raw masarap eh.. what's your take on that? kasi i'm planning to celebrate my brother's bday in a Japanese restaurant in Alabang kasi he loves ramen and sushi and maki. our first choice sana is Omakase, kaso i've read nga na hindi masarap ang ramen, BUT masarap ang sushi and maki.

ok sana ang ramen sa Ramen Yushoken kaso we want variety naman in the menu (i.e., sushi, maki), kaya "out" na siya sa options for my brother's birthday dinner. kasi they really are staying true to their restaurant concept as a "ramen place" so they only have ramen plus complementing side dishes. no sushi/sashimi at all.

sa Yakimix naman, ok nga ang variety, pero di ko gusto ang quality ng food. so out na rin siya.

haha, masyado bang maarte? anyway, to those who have tried Omakase's ramen, what can you say? what ramen did you order? kasi yung nabasa kong bad reviews ay sa Shoyu Ramen lang naman. not much reviews on their other ramen.

try rin ninyo ang Yamazaki sa may little Tokyo sa dating Plaza Fair sa may Makati, this is what they call Japanese Fastfood mura pa.

inagiku, for me, is tops! also yarakuen in diamond hotel. good service din, but i havent been there in a while so i dont know kung ok pa rin. omakase is ok lang din.

i like ramen kasi so for me shinjuku in makati ave. and tamagoya in antipolo are also good. tamagoya especially since it's so cheap. kung katsudon type mo, okay naman yabu.

sis try Kenji Tei, I want to try it sana kaso laging puno nasa ATC yan.

so far, Tonkatsu/Katsudon wise I like Yabu. Almost same price as Teriyaki boy for me. Pero Yabu kasi complete set na. Twice palang ako nakatikim ng Ramen. Sa Teriyaki boy and Fukuya. Fukuya pa din ok sakin. Ewan lang ha hindi kasi ako mahilig sa ramen

I tried John and Yoko hindi ako nasarapan. may daya pa ata bill nila. parang di kasama sa menu pricelist yung tax. not sure ha? hindi ko na na complain nung kumain kami nagmamadali kasi kami eh

But I want to try Omakase. Is it same price as Teriyaki Boy? Gusto ko din itry yung ibang Japanese resto sa Molito alabang.

hindi ako fan nang japanese food pero nung nakakain ako sa sumo sam, naging fan ako.

i go to Fukuya for Okonomiyaki.
Little Tokyo for Takoyaki and Okonomiyaki too (i like the one with everything in it).
I tried sashimi for the first time in Haru in Kapitolyo, i'm not into raw fish but i was impressed.

I hated the crunchy salmon salad in Teriyaki Boy. Nakakaumay. Hindi balanced yung flavor. Mas ok na yung kani salad nila. 

I'm still in search for the best ramen. Any suggestions?

^^^Sis, Omakase is a bit more expensive than Teriyaki Boy, pero IMHO mas masarap especially sushi nila.

I find Sumo Sam overpriced for the quality ng food.

^ahahahaha! oo walang kwenta ang Yoshinoya, together with Tokyo Tokyo, fake Japanese food naman yung mga yun. they don't qualify as Japanese restaurants. sorry kung medyo harsh, pero that's my honest opinion.

at least ang Teriyaki Boy (more affordable range Jap resto), merong authenticity naman sa dishes niya, though of course it's not comparable to the high-end Japanese restaurants, i could say that some of their menu items still has a hint of authenticity.

i like takoyaki of little tokyo. yummy with jap chef pa cook [textspeak!] un place tago. bar ata yun pag night eh.
