All about Rottweilers

Hi guys,

Just got another furbaby and this time it's a rottie. Anyone here who has one? He is our newest baby and napaka sweet nya and really an A-pup. This is my first Rott, Labs kasi ang mga pure bred dogs ko. Napansin ko lang na mas smelly siya.

Question, smelly ba talaga sila? or is it because of partial raw feeding?  Dogfood/meat shavings kasi ang diet niya as per the breeder.

We super love him, nakakatawa nga na isiping ang daming misconception about their breed, he came from a family so he's used to being with children. My kids love him, mas sweet pa nga siya sa Labradors ko, he's really affectionate and wants attention, laging nakasunod and iiyak kapag naiwanan. Ayan, gusto ko pa tuloy ng isa. lol

May mga Rott owners ba dito? Please share your parenting stories.

I have one too... binenta kasi ng friend ko ang rottie niya sa akin kasi lagi siya naghuhukay sa bahay na nirerentahan nila. kabibili ko lang siya kaso 18mos na siya. ang laki na nga niya eh. concern ko lang din na parang mahirap na siya turuan. kasi di naman siya lumaki sa akin. ilang days palang siya nasa amin. maamoy din yong rott namin. tapos pag pinatayan mo ng ilaw,umuungol siya sa gabi. nakakatakot! haha. pag iniwanan mo, tahol ng tahol. parang ako nga lang ang gusto niya dito. ok naman siya sa lahat. kaso pag nakita na niya ako, parang bata na talon ng talon! i have a male rottweiler. ano pala pinapakin mong dog food sa kanya? binilhan ko kasi siya ng bago, ayaw niya kainin yung pellets na nabili ko.

We have 1 female rott. Nasamin na sya since 1 month sya and she is 3 yrs old na beef pro and pedigree gusto nya. Euroline xxl si hachiko namin

Vitality High Energy ang df ko, madami kasi ko dogs. Dati pure, kaso nag karoon ng kati kati, the breeder o got him from suggested na haluan ko ng kanin ang diet nya 60/40 para mawala ang skin problems so far umo OK na.

Ako or maid nagpapakain. Mabait ang Rott ko. hehe very much socialized siya.

^ why dangerous po ? Kapag hindi po siguro napalaki at natrain para maging balanced po siguro. Mabait kasi rott. Namin

mabait yung rottie din namin.. siguro pag nakakulong at nakatali lagi, dun sila may tendency mangagat. at tsaka baka di pa niya gaano kilala yung mga tao na nakapaligud sa kanya.

Hindi talaga mawawala ang mga ganitong conceptions abou rotts, kahit saan meron. :p Ask ko lang po, have you ever had or personally handled a rottweiler?

I always stand by this saying when it comes to rottweilers, "dont judge them till you have one"

I have a female rottweiler, 10 months old na kahpon hehe. She's very malambing and very makulit! Though she knows kapag galit ako. Anyone here na may possessive issues ang rotts nila? She's very possessive with her meteor ball that when I try to take it away from her, inaangilan nya ko. Pero kapag kumakaen naman sya di sya nagagalit ng ganun. And she can be hand fed too, by the way. Haven't had the time to train her for her to dis that kind of attitude. Any experiences? As of the moment, di ko na lang muna pinapalaro sa kanya yung meteor ball nya, kahit na gusto kong nakikita sya na nageenjoy sa laruan nya.

^ like cesar millan said sometimes the dog handlers are the cause of their bad behavior. Baka he/she is doing something wrong kaya may bad behavior at walang trust sa dogs ? All dog owners should train their dogs regardless the breed train them to respect and trust the master and everything else will follow. Kung makakita ka ng rottie at inisip mo na ay baka manlapa yan most likely it will happen dahil sa nasesense ng dog from you =)

I stand by the belief as well that regardless of a dog’s breed, its your training/treatment that will greatly contribute to his/her behavior. Our Rottweiler has been with us for the past 8 years. Though not makulit and nakaka-intimidate nga because of the size, never syang naging danger for us. I highly recommend lang na i-walk sya madalas kasi one way din talaga yun para hindi sya maging aggressive.

Our previous helpers can attest na “mabilis pakisamahan” yung Rott namin. For me nga, mas aggressive yung Japanese Spitz ko kasi na-spoil naman yun ng sobra.

yes sis.. unang tingin sa rott,nakakatakot talaga siya. 1yr and 6mos yung rott namin nung kinuha ko siya.natakot talaga ako,pero ilang minutes lang,nakuha ko na agad ang loob niya at tuluyan ng sumama sa akin.haha. malambing siya, laging bola ang kalaro niya. tapos pag di mo siya nabibigyan ng attention, nagpapapansin siya to the point na mag iingau siya at kiti kiti.malaki ang rott,pero gusto ko ang attitude nila.

See? You haven't had a hand on a rottweiler yet siansabi nyo delikado ang breed nila? The irony naman talaga.

Friend mo meron and need talaga ng training? Have you seen how your friend treats his/her rott? Maybe s/he treats it with violence kaya nagiging violent ang aso? It if often said that the way a dog acts is a reflection of how the dog is treated. Para lang sigurong "kung ano ang puno sya ang bunga". If a dog is treated violently and w/o love, for sure magigign violent talaga ang aso. Pero if they're (dogs) treated with affection and love then for sure they won't turn out that way.

rotts and pitts are considered as dangerous dog breeds lalo na sa u.s but according to cesar millan based from research napagalaman na hindi naalagaan at hindi nasocialize ang mga dogs ng kanilang owners at kapag iaapproach ng ibang tao may fear at wala silang trust sa dogs kaya nagreresult ng hindi maganda. may mga small breeds din na matapang mas nangangagat pa kesa sa rotts pero hindi considered as deadly dahil sa size nila hehe
