How many ultrasounds are needed/required?

depende sa case mo sis, ako kasi high risk so bale:

1st   - transvaginal ultrasound,to Confirm a normal pregnancy
2nd  - 5months/20weeks, congenital anomaly and to know the gender of your baby
From seven months up to manganak everyweek na BPS Biophysical Profile with NST ,grabe dito kami namulubi ni hubby 2k/week kasama checkup hayss

I have read from a magazine 3x in your pregnancy lang required to have an ultrasound. 1st a TVS during the first trimester to check the viability og your pregnancy. And to check din your reproductive organs. Then sa 2nd trimester TVU to check yung biometry etc. Parang ganun din during the 3rd trimester. To check the position din ni baby lalo na pag normal delivery. Though safe naman to have an ultrasound monthly. My OB does ultrasound everycheck up namin to check baby's growth, heartbeat etc. pero wala siya sinisingil except yung ultrasound na may kasama report (1x lang every trimester yun).

sa case ko sa mga naging pregnancies ko, 3 ultrasounds lang, even if i miscarried nung 1st pregnancy ko. 1st is tvs, 2nd is to check for congenital defects and gender of the baby, last is bio physical profile

8mos - fetal position ni baby kung cephalic at enough ang amniotic fluid ko

2nd pregnancy ko now at 20wks
so far 2 nako

2 and 3mos -tvs
kasi nung 3rd month d marinig heartbeat s doppler..

thank God baby is doing a-ok after malaman ko ok naman utz

On my 12 weeks palang ako

4 weeks - tvs
6 weeks - tvs ulit ( may subcronic hemorrage kc yung 1st tvs ko)
               2nd ultrasound no hemorrage na, then lakas ng heartbeat ni baby, kaso low lying placenta
               nasa zero, hopefully umangat cya.
               
My sis in law in an ob din, kaso cebu based kaya hindi cya primary ob ko, she advise me to stop working and bed rest muna.

5 Ultrasound na ako.

1st - Trans Viginal at 11 weeks sa US pa. Di ko kasi alam na two months na buntis ako.

2nd- nung 8 months na ang tummy ko. Pelvic and gender yon. Di ako na satisfied kasi madali-an lang. Di ko nga nakita kung paano gumalaw ang Baby sa tiyan ko. Sabagay, ano pa ba ang ini-expect ko sa 350 na Ultrasound. Yong EDD ay May 2, 2014.

3rd- Biophysical exam then kasama ang video at pictures. Biophysical lang request ng doctor pero gusto ko lang makita ang picture at may Video din ( feel ko lang hehe) 3800 lahat yon dun sa Robinsons Manila. Yong EDD naman ay April 29, 2014. Paiba-iba ang due date, sabagay estimated lang naman yon. Yong Fetal weight naman ay 6.6 lbs. Normal naman lahat ng Result sa Biophysical test.

4th- Request ulit ng Ob kasi Due date ko na dapat May 2, 2014  pero wala pa ring signs of labor. Normal naman lahat ng BPS. Nagbago naman ang DDue Date. MAy 8 naman ang due date according sa 4th ultrasound. Yong Fetal weight lumaki. 8.7 lbs. Di naman nakapagtataka kasi ang Tatay ay pang NBA ang height(6'5"). Pero sobrang laki na. Di naman ako kabado kasi lakas ng loob ko. close pa rin ang cervix.

5th- Nagpa Ulrasound ako May 8 kasi Due date ko according sa 4th Ultrasound. Nashock ang Ob sa Estimated Fetal weight ng 4th utz kaya naka lima ako. Yong Estimated Fetal weight ng 5th UTZ ay 8.8 lbs na. Nyahahaha... Normal pa rin ang BPS. Healthy ako walang complications, wala namang diabetes kaya sa Genes talaga ng Tatay (American Kasi). Yong DD ko sa 5th UTz ay May 9, 2014.

May 11 na pero wala pa ring signs of labor. Sipa naman ng sipa ang bata sa loob. Balik ko sa May 15 ulit. Sa May 15, 41 weeks na ako. Prayers lang at hindi ako nagpapa stress sa mga sabi-sabi ng tao. Trust nalang ako sa katawan ko. Anyway, kung oras ko ng umuwi ng langit e wala na talaga akong magagawa. Ready naman ako spiritually. Only God knows. Gusto ko kasi Normal birth kaya Prayers lang talaga ang kailangan. Yong 2nd and 5th ultrasound sa Pinas na yan.

as far as I know..walang standard numbers of UTZ for pregnant..it depends upon you and your baby's condition..kung high-risk ang pregnancy mo, say, may subchorionic hematoma ka, then inaadvise ni OB for a series of TVS to monitor yung blood mass..pero kung healthy ka naman..usually, in the first trimester, 1 TVZ to know yung gestational age ni baby at kung okay ba si baby..then on the 2nd trimester, usually CAS or UTZ  for detailed scan and gender determination yun, around 21-25 weeks..then on the third trimester, yun na yung last..placenta localization na..

In our case gusto ng ob namin na monthly ang ultrasound pero when we found out our baby is IUGR or small for gestational age after we had Congenital Anomaly Scan (CAS) we're required to undergo ultrasound with doppler and Biophysical Profile Scoring (BPS) every week then yung with Biometry every 2weeks. Ni-request din ni ob ang Non Stress Test (NST) weekly to monitor ang movement at heart rate ni baby.

So i guess depende sa need kung ilang ultrasound. Meron naman ako kakilala na may sariling ultrasound machine sa clinic yung ob nya kaya every checkup nila meron din silang ultrasound ☺

Twice lang ako naTVS, first check up kaya lang wala pa heartbeat si baby so inulit after two weeks TVS ulit. The rest puro pelvic ultrasound na kasi everytime may check up kami kay OB kasali na talaga iyon. Kahit ngayong last na ultrasound ko na sinubmit ko sa office para sa maternity leave, pelvic din. Siguro kasi malaki na si baby. Mas okay narin kasi mas mura siya Php 400 lang.

I think it really depends on you and your doctor. Dati kasi I would always ask my OB kung need ko ba magpa-ultrasound. She'll ask me naman "Why?" and sasabihin ko gusto ko lang makita. hehe. Ayun, she won't let me. She wouldn't order it daw unless she sees a medical reason.

First pregnancy, may ovarian cyst ako so monthly tvs from 1st month up to 5th month to monitor the cyst. Lumalaki kasi. Then CAS on the 6th month and last u/s nung 3rd trimester (forgot what month).

Ngayon, 2nd pregnancy, once pa lang nung 8th week. 4w pa lang nagpacheckup na ako but OB advised to wait for the 8th week para sa TVS, kasi thickened endometrium lang daw ang makikita. By 6th week, gestational sac. By 7th or 8th pa daw magkaka-heartbeat.

But she also told me that since she considers me as having poor obstetric history, magiging madalas ang u/s especially sa 3rd trimester. Pero for pregnancy na walang problema, usually 3 u/s lang pinapagawa niya, one every trimester.

I'm in my 24th week now and so far, two pa lang:

8th week- to confirm pregnancy and due date
20th week- congenital anomaly scan (i was able to find the gender din at this time)

Sabi ng doctor sa 8th month na daw yun next.  Sana all OBs have their own ultrasound machine like sa states para makita mo every month progress ni baby.

May limit ba ang ultrasound? I wanted to check if nakabreech pa si baby at sakto pa ang size nia..sa weekend pa kami kay ob ko pero gusto ko mgpaultrasound this week uli..I had 4 u/s in total..im on my 36th wk na din pala

6 or 8th wk TVS
10th wk TVS to verify heartbeat again
21st wk for gender determination
30W for 3d4d

My OB have her own ultrasound machine. 26weeks pregnant here and every month sa scheduled check-up ko i have u/s.

Every check up may u/s ako may ultrasound machine kasi yung OB ko. Pero yung with sonologist talaga:

1st Trimester: TVS pregnancy confirmation after 2 weeks TVS ulit for twin pregnancy confirmation pero isa nalang ang nakita nung 2nd u/s.

2nd Trimester: naka schedule ako for Doppler Velocimetry and Pelvic Ultrasound this July (20 weeks).

in my case 3x lang ako nagultrasound. when it comes to Ultrasound I always go sa Ann Francis Mother & Child Lying-In Clinic in Zabarte,Caloocan. dun Sonologist talaga are who will do that kaya tiwala talaga ako. thank you Dra.Felix ^^

At 13W5D so far dalawang TVS na, and every check-up meron ultrasound kasama na kasi yun sa routine ni OB every visit.

I just gave birth last month and naka 4 na ultrasound lang ako.

1st - TVS at 10weeks to confirm kung preggy ba talaga and it was required by my OB to get the fit to work clearance.

2nd - CAS at 20 weeks. Requested by OB (ibang OB na) and actually kung hindi niya nirequest I will request for this myself. Nababasa ko na to before dito din sa GT and gusto ko talaga syang gawin to make sure everything is fine with the baby. May gender determination na din kasama so instead na yung usual na gender determination, I went for this na. Thank God wala namang naging prob kay baby, wala naman anomalies and kumpleto naman limbs.

3rd - 4D ultrasound. Requested by me. This is not required. I just wanted to see my baby in 3D. Super sayang experience nito

4th - Ultrasound and BPS with NST at 36 weeks. I am not sure bakit pina request ito ni OB. Hindi pa naman ako overdue noon and wala namang complications. But anyway, good thing pinagawa ito dito ko nalaman na may double cord coil si baby (scary). Pero aside from that, everything's fine. Okay ang heartbeat, amniotic fluid, etc.

I like my OB kasi hindi sya nagpapa ultrasound ng hindi naman kailangan. I guess kung medyo may complications or difficult yung pregnancy, mas madaming U/S dapat. Pero IMO, gustong gusto ko pag nagpapa ultrasound ako kase na a-assure ako na okay lang si baby sa loob. Praning kasi ako nung nabuntis.
