Ask her OB or better yet have an ultra sound at a reputable hospital. We had ours when wifey was a month pregnant.

Baby's heart rate is 83 bpm at 5w5d, got an ultrasound 9 days later and it went even lower. 61 bpm.

I have prepared myself for a possible miscarriage but I'm still doing everything I can -- eating well, getting a full night's sleep,  etc

I had another transvaginal ultrasound 2 weeks after the 61bpm trans ultrasound.  The report says "embryonic demise".  My baby no longer has a heartbeat.

In many forums I've read where the baby's heartbeat slowed during the first trimerster, no one ever followed up on what happened. So, I thought I'd post this update. (PS. This is my 2nd pregnancy)

My sis kasi just had her trans-v few minutes ago and found out that there was no heart beat. It's so heartbreaking to see my sister crying huhuhu i don't know how to comfort her. May 4-year-old daughter na sya at gusto na nila ng husband nya na magkababy ulit. there was no any symptoms at all, no bleeding or whatever kaya we thought ok ang baby until this. :'(

She should go to an OB gynecologist and show the ultrasound.  In my first pregnancy the doctor prescribed another ultrasound (a week after the first one). It was a case of "blighted ovum" daw. After not detecting a heartbeat, the doctor recommended another ultrasound the following week to check. Wala pa rin, so she recommended D&C na (raspa) pero pinag-ultrasound pa din ako after isa pang week to make sure/ confirm na wala talaga, 9 weeks ako nun. There was an embryonic sac but there was no embryo seen. I had no bleeding and my cervix is closed.

Kumuha din ako nang 2nd & 3rd opinion just to be extra sure.

All of them said that in situations like this, there's usually something wrong with the chromosomes in either the egg or the sperm or both causing the development of the baby to stop. Parang natural selection daw. The pregnancy is not viable so di na talaga matutuloy. Sometimes, the baby continues to grow, but they end up having a birth defect like down syndrome or some congenital disease.  Minsan nagkakaron nang heartbeat and nag-g-grow pero pag dating nang 2nd to 3rd trimerster, namamatay pa rin.

I googled a lot about it and read a ton of studies to confirm, to help me get acceptance, and to be 100% sure that I wont be inadvertently killing him or her by agreeing to the D&C procedure.

BUT. Sometimes, when the pregnancy is too early, like if irregular yung menstrual period, and you can't really tell how long you've been pregnant, baka di pa tama yung bilang and the baby is starting to develop pa lang. Minsan nagkakaheartbeat tapos everything is ok. Or minsan pa-start pa lang. Kaya consult a doctor. They usually prescribe another ultrasound in one to two weeks.

I don't know how you would be able to comfort her. In my case, presence is enough -- yung alam ko na anjan lang yung mga tao who loves me. Don't give her false hopes. But don't be super nega about it either. Also nung ako, I got annoyed in the end when everyone's telling me to prayso the baby will get a heartbeat. In my scenario kasi, I just wished/prayed/hoped na kung ano yung best, yun yung mangyari.  What if the baby gets a heartbeat, tapos mawala sya kapag 3rd trimerster na. Or what if I give birth, tapos wala syang quality of life.

^wala nga masyado support system si sister kasi kame lang ni hubby nya nakakaalam about her pregnancy (ewan ko lang sa family ni bil) pero sa family namen ako lang ang sinabihan nya. but after the result at nkauwi ako (saturday), i informed na din si isang sister namen. Then just last night, bil told my parents that sister is preggy pero di nya pa namention about the ultrasound. Sa nakikita ko strong naman sister pero i know deep inside she's hurting. Tapos she's experiencing pregnancy symptoms pa like nausea.

Re sperm cell, i think it could be a factor sa pregnancy ngaun ni sister kasi bil smokes and drinks alcohol plus the strenuous activities he does as a sundalo.

My best friend had a blighted ovum during their first try. They now have 2 healthy teenagers. My friend does not smoke btw. What they both did nag gym and slept early. Pag sundalo si bil mahirap ata lalo na pag exposed to hot temp sya everyday.

Hi mga sis pa join. I'm supposed to be 7 weeks but in tvs 5 weeks 6 days. Based from 3rd tvs yan ah kas last sat [textspeak!] ob is Dra. quevedo misdiagnosed and said baby did not develop from our first tvs which is a week before lang may heartbeat sya 122bpm. Tpos after a week she told us the baby Stopped developing no heartbrat. Binigyan pa nga ako ng pang admit for raspa. And yet we did not believe her. We were so crushed. Right away we went to Asian for 2nd opinion tvs. Nakita heartbeat. Maliit pa daw kasi kaya 117 bpm.  Today i went to a new ob. Dr sales-diaz of Asian. Nakita ko lang rin sa forum. Recommend ng mga sis. So i told her my history. She gave me lots medications pang sigurista. Then we will go back on Sat for another tvs. Nakakastress emotionally and mentally na you dont know if the baby will proceed. Kasi may signs ako ng m/c like spotting. But i gave uti kaya naka ceforuxime din ako. It could be it. Or it could be  something else. Im sharing my experience just to release what i feel. But I am not okay. Please help me pray.

@myrc your ob is supposed to prescribe duphaston and duvadulan para sure kapit. My wife was prescribed that for 8 months para walang mintis. Load up on vitamins and complete bedrest dapat. Just came from our OB and she told us may cases na 3rd month bigla stop heartbeat. It means the uterus cant sustain the fetus. Only treatment for that is complete bed rest and massive dose of vitamins para ma sustain fetus. It might be more expensive but at least you have peace of mind. Kaya pa yan basta bed rest lang. No household chores talaga. Our OB explained the reason a fetus stopped developing is kasi kulang sa nutrients. Kaya wag kayo mag tipid sa vitamins. When wifey was one month pregnant i asked our OB how long can wife take duphaston and duvadulan she told us safe until full term which is what she prescribed kasi working si wifey.

Thanks @scubadoobidoo.  Thanks for the inputs. Yes im on duphaston duvadilan both 3x a day, aspilet 1x aday, utrogestan inserts 2x a day.  Kanina lang nireseta ng bagong ob. Aside from that naka prenatal vita din ako with 800mcg folic.Kasi the old ob na nag misdiagnosed left me with just utrogestan 2x a day. Today matapos [textspeak!] 2weeks nya. Kaya i went to look for another ob today in Asian. I feel like kulang [textspeak!] iniinom ko if utrogestan lang and of course di na ko babalik kay quevedo after nya bigyan ng pang admit pang raspa. What if t**** kame. What if we just follow what she tells us. Im posting her name Linda queveda ob of casa medica asian and mmc as a precaution. Sobrang galit talag ako sa kanya with the trauma she brought me and my husband. To think my 5 year old daughter was with us the whole time. She is waiting and excited already. Then a very irresponsible doctor tells me to stop utrogestan if gusto ko mapabilis na mawala na [textspeak!] blood in a week or 2 daw. I should expect gush of blood to come out of me so that's why she gave me patient's admit form. It's that easy for her to break our hope. If it weren't for our own initiative to run another tvs right away. And 2nd opinion confirmed live, singleton, fetus .31 cm 5 weeks 6days 117 bpm. Contrary to the other ob's advise na dont expect na. Na magparaspa na daw ako sa knya. Oh well a story to tell my child. When i get through all of this in the future which I am really hoping and praying to move forward. Never lose hope.

Wtf talaga naman. Ako i trust our OB but as a uncle of mine who is a doctor keeps telling me when in doubt get a second or third opinion. Buti nalang you took the initiative. Mapatay ko [textspeak!] ang OB na yan. That is whats so scary about doctors nowadays dami puro pera nalang inuuna.

Also, raspa agad? As far as I know, if wala talagang life yung baby, you can wait for the miscarriage to occur naturally. I hope it doesn't happen and I hope that your baby is ok. Pero if hindi talaga viable, once your body realizes that the baby is gone and you're no longer pregnant, you will bleed on your own.

When that happened to me, bumaba heartbeat ni baby, my OB did not prescribe D&C agad. Ang dami kong ultrasound for several consecutive weeks to make sure na nawala na talaga yung heartbeat. Pero hindi pa din sya nag prescribe nang D&C as an option. She recommended that I wait for the miscarriage to occur naturally. I'm waiting til 12 weeks. I'm on my 10th week. After nun, magpapa-D&C na ako.

That will give you peace of mind that the baby's really gone and you did not inadvertently kill him/her.

Pero tuloy pa din alaga, because 117bpm is still quite slow.
