Any save up tips this Christmas? :-)

For me,I usually buy all christmas gifts sa mga inaanak ko, tinetiyempo ko sa October sale ng SM na malapit dito. :-) These malls usually give additional 10% off sa Friday sale nila from 10am-12nn. If you are a BDO credit card user (like me), may additional 5% rebate pa if you reach 5K. I'm aware na aabot ako ng 6K+ dahil na din sa mga damit na bibilhin ko (luma na kasi pants, and some tshirts, pangformal at wala pa ako dress ever) at mga personal needs (like tissues, toiletries atbp). Nagsearch na kasi ako a day before ng sale. :-) Tapos pinareserve ko yung mga damit para kapag hinanap ko si sales lady, ibibigay na lang sa akin on the sale day. Halos ang laki din ang na-save ko. :-)  Pwera pa si madir at padir sa mga bibilhin nila for themselves. :-) Nakakatuwa, ang laki ng natipid ko mga sisses!

This is the 3rd month na nag-set aside ako ng 10% of my salary for Tithes.  Hindi pa nga talaga 10% coz minus ko muna loan and carloan then yung 10% nung natira ang Tithes.

I don't know why, but mas na-manage ko ang pera ko.  Lalo na last month na ang daming gastos at additional expenses na ultimo nagalaw ko yung money for that month's savings, akala ko wala ako ma-save last month, nagulat na lang ako na meron pa pala natira.

It also helps na you  review your budget every once in a while.  Dati I have budget for grocery (1K dirhams), dining out (500 dirhams), office food (500 dirhams) -- I took out the dining out and office food and put that into savings.  If I want to eat out dun ko na kinukuha sa grocery budget.  Minsan kase when you don't have a budget for certain things, mas nalilimit yung paggastos mo.  This worked for me so far. Nalimit na yung paglabas labas ko, instead I stay home and cook na or bring baon to work.

Im doing a lot of Christmas shopping for kid relatives,inaanaks, and officemates online. The shipping fee saves me a lot of money because I realized last year that Christmas shopping has a lot of "hidden" charges: gas, parking, meals, dessert, pasalubong that can really add up to a lot especially if you make several trips to the mall. You're also tempted to buy little things for yourself/family that aren't necessarily part of the budget. I'm also starting shopping early so I can take my time and not get caught up with the rush.

usually pag may mga sale items sa mall at may mahanap akong gift items para sa mga inaanak ko, bumibili na ko para di na ako magka-cramming pag malapit na mag-xmas.

na-experience ko kasi before na pag nag-last minute shopping ako, umoover ako sa budget kasi mas mahal yung mga nabibili kong panregalo.

i make sure that i set a budget for each person na reregaluhan ko, and i stick to that budget.

We do have savings but when we got a car loan, we couldn't save anything na. We are paying 17k a month, which really takes a big chunk of our monthly expenses. Despite that, am just happy na hindi namin nagagalaw yung di kalakihan naming savings and we don't have debts, even our credit cards are paid in full.Right now, that's all that matters to us.

Pero hopefully next year, makabawi na kami.

Although we have a coin bank that is full na, so for this year we have to be content of what we save in there.

^same sentiments. after i got a car loan, medyo hindi na din nakakasave ng maayos. pero ok lang siguro since investment naman ang car.

one tip to share, stay at home! hehe dati lagi ako lumalabas and i would spend a lot on foods. so as much as possible, may schedule na ako when to do my grocery and when to go out.

^hi sis. This is my POV ha. I don't think that car is an investment. Why?? Nadedepreciate sila ng value unlike real estate. Tumataas ang value ng lupa.

Shempre, pag nagsawa ka na sa car mo, you will sell it for a lower price na.

Real estate and jewelries, for me are real investment.
Trust funds too.

^ technically an investment doesn't have to have a direct profit gain from the invested resources.

example, you buy an oven, and use it to make bake treats to sell for your business. The oven itself is an item that depreciate and not appreciate by it price value. But it is an investment for your business to profit.

yah I agree pd naman maging investment yung car mo if you use it to gain profit...such as you need a car to meet your clients and it's difficult for you to commute, pwede din na you save a lot of time driving your car to work than commuting and you use the saved time for more productive activity which also brings in money.

When buying gadgets or appliances sa bahay, do you consider if it is China made or kung saan sya made? As for now, I consider it talaga when buying a tv or any other appliances sa bahay. Siguro nag-sink in na sa akin na kapag China made, mahina at walang kwenta. Mura na pero mapapamura ka naman. How do you decide when buying an appliance or gadget? Do you still consider where it was made or yung costs nya?

^ bibili ka ng mga gamit if kelangan na kelangan mo talaga. You need to distinguish first the NEEDS vs. WANTS.

Uso ngayon ang WANTS. Shempre hindi mo maiiwasan na may mga taong inggit sa kung ano man meron sa iba. I am glad, hindi ako katulad nila. Hindi rin ako magadget na tao.

I am not a masinop person pero nagtyatyaga ako kadalasan sa mga bagay. Like yung cp ko. 2yrs lock in sa globe, yung iba, hnd makuntento, pinapalitan na nila ang unit. Oh well, it depends sa ugali ng tao yan.

In this way, with my attitude, nakakaipon pa rin ako.

Set aside the Need vs Wants sis. We already know this thing from the previous threads and on this thread. I've an old phone, wala ako ipad or tablet, at hindi ako maluho. Me too, hindi din ako ma-gadget na tao. When buying things, I always think if it's a need. I'm already using the Minimalist living idea.

What I'm asking po is kapag bibili kayo ng bagong gadget or appliance sa bahay, do you consider kung saan sya gawa? Made in China? Or do you consider the money? Lahat na po kasi na nabibili ngayon puro made in china. Mangilan ngilan na lang hindi.

This time, what if it's a need na kelangan na talaga palitan yung TV. Ano kino-consider nyo? Do you wait for Christmas Sale to buy a new one? Do you consider the store kung saan ka dapat bibili (like SM for additional SM Advantage points)? Do you consider the freebies na kasama? Do you consider saan sya gawa like China, Thailand? The warranty?

From these things I stated above, I'm pretty sure may save tips kayo na alam para makatipid din and budget wise and consumer wise. Share naman mga sisses!  <3

meron naman made in china na pasado sa quality yung may mga icc sticker, iba pa ito sa china na binebenta sa divisoria na dun pa lang sa saksakan kita na hindi matibay mostly kasi sa china nagmamanufactured kahit malaking kumpanya kasi mura labor dun ako sa may quality kahit medyo pricey yung safety din kasi.

^^isang tip siguro which I got from my husband is do your research before buying new items. Siya kasi for example may gusto syang bilhin na big ticket item, nagbabasa sya ng mga reviews sa net. Pag pwedeng iwasan ang china-made products, please do. I remember one of my friend told me na ang mga Chinese daw pag napunta ng Japan for sure talaga na bibili yan ng rice cooker, sabi kasi nila mas masarap daw ang kanin if Japan-made. Pero as what they said, God made the world and the rest is made in China, so kunting-kunti nalang talaga ang hindi galing sa kanila... Meron din naman sigurong China-made product na maganda.

Sa pagpili naman kung saan, say may brand kanang gustong bilhin, IMHO mas mabuti na doon ka bumili sa pinakamura yung offer ng brand na yun (of course dapat trusted din yung store baka kasi mapeke ka). Tapos yung may freebies naman i-check mo if magagamit mo ba or you can sell it, baka kasi magiging dagdag kalat lang yung freebies sa bahay.

iwas shopping! mahilig ako dito dati well hanggang ngayon naman pero natuto ako na hanggang tingin nalang kung hindi naman need ng bagong damit, hindi ako bibili., Katwiran ko ang dami ko na nga damit na hindi nasusuot ulit nakatambak lang sa closet ko.

Malaki din tipid kapag hindi nag shopping e.

Rule namin ni hubs, dapat meron kami maitabi na pera every month. Hindi pwedeng wala.

Wala kami car pero meron kaming sariling bahay na hinuhulugan pa.. 5 yrs to go and tapos na kami, tsaka na kami bibili ng kotse after that at madali lang naman yun, mas importante ang bahay.
