Mas mura sa SM by 1-2 pesos
Most of the time we just buy
C2 or Coke para sa drinks namin for lunch and its always cheaper
sa SM.

Same lang siguro sa Carlos dito sa amin, its a small time grocery
store and some people swear its cheaper than SM but I keep track
of my expenses.. very detailed as I use Quicken and I find it to be
false. Although there are some items and mas mura nga talaga sa
Carlos but not that many.

^^ most of the items na binibili namin monthly sis, almost all actually mas mahal sa SM, meron mang mas mura centavos lang or 1 peso. compared to 3-10 pesos difference sa Landmark I also track my grocery receipts and had my observation for 4 months and mas ok sa LM.

bet ko pa yung mga bagger nila, hanggang makasakay ka ng taxi , sila pa maglalagay, aantayin ka kahit ang haba ng pila and they are not accepting tip ha. sa SM, isang plastic na nga lang itinulong, super antay pa sa tip

^ speaking of tips. Magastos rin mag-tip kahit maliliit lang ito. Add them all up each month and it can go by the hundreds (or a few thousand, if you are a generous tipper).

I just give tip to the bagger kung natulungan ako on instances na masama ang pakiramdam ko (usually pagod), o kaya malayo ang parking lot, o kaya marami at mabigat lang talaga akong dala.

I learned how to DIY some things. Para iwas tip na rin, in addition to the fact that, nakakatipid rin ako not paying for the additional service.

i am a "live within your means" type of person ever since. kahit nung dalaga pa ako at lalo na ngayong married na ako and have a 9-month old baby girl mas lalo umandar pagiging frugalista ko. ;-)

here a few of my HOW TO SAVE TIPS. hope this helps:

1. yes, that envelop thing with labels (i.e. groceries, utilities, rent etc) is really effective. kc may proper allotment ka ng pera mo so hindi ka nagugulat kung saan napunta after you get to hold both of you and your husband's earnings.

2. EARNINGS - SAVINGS = EXPENSES Ginagawa ko since nasa iisang bank lang payroll and personal savings account ko, every payday tina-transfer ko na agad yung amount alloted for savings sa savings account ko from my payroll account. in that way, automatic savings agad tapos kung ano matira sa combined earnings namin ni hubby yun na bina-budget ko for all our expenses.

3. as much as possible, refrain from bringing your credit card with you everyday so you could resist impulse buying pag tipong napadaan ka sa mall. and kapag nagbabayad ka ng credit card bill mo, always pay the TOTAL AMOUNT DUE rather than the MINIMUM AMOUNT DUE.

4. wag magplantsa everyday kc malakas yun sa kuryente, do it once a week.

5. unplug all appliances when not in use.

6. bago ka magpurchase ng isang bagay, weigh it down first kung need ba yun o want lang. kung hindi naman tlaga kelangan, wag na bilhin. although hindi din naman masama i-reward sarili mo once in a while.

7. i do thrift shopping for my clothes. jeans, shoes and bags lang inaartehan ko. kundi man, I go to Divisoria or wait for mall sales kc sayang din.

9. ALWAYS have a grocery list when you go grocery shopping and check first your stash at home so you'll know what you need to buy and para iwas doble ng bili. makasalanang lugar ang grocery/supermarket. pag nandun kna feeling mo lahat kelangan mo so it's always better to have a list tsaka makaka-save ka din sa time kc since alam mo na bibilhin mo, alam mo na din kung saang sectuion ka lang pupunta.

10. i rarely eat out or buy lunch sa office. i always have my pack lunch kc mahina P100 pag naglunch ka sa building namin.

Pa join po, newbie lang

Very helpful talaga magbasa dito, lalo na ngayon na need talaga to tighten our belt kasi last year ang dami naming utang ni hubby because of my high risk pregnancy.

Now ginagawa ko is
2. Since free meal naman kami sa office, 100pesos lang allowance/day so, sometimes may
natitirang 20-30pesos. Savings ko na yun
3. Tinatanggihan ko na lahat ng nagaalok dito sa office, like avon or mse/natasia

Ang isa pa na dapat ginawa ko noon is kumuha ng HMO, nacover sana yung malaking ginastos namin for hospitalization ko. :-\

Love this thread! Dami ko natututunan aside from the things na ginagawa ko na talaga, kasi ako masyado akong matipid na tao and very wise spender.

Here are my tips:
1. I always do price checks and cross cheking sa different grocery stores. Save ng pagod and pamasahe. Kayo sisses, just weigh the circumstances kung san mas mapapadali sau.

2. Sa SM may mga BONUS na tinda. Yung mga generic ba nila. Like yung distilled water, nature spring may gawa nyan. May Sugar, Palaman, Cotton, Alcohol, Cooking Oil. Actually, nagexpand na sila eh. Check nio lang yan, sobrang mura kesa sa branded, pero ang manufacturers usually are the same as the branded ones. I buy those instead of the branded ones.

3. Same with my daughter's diaper. I uses generic. The ones packed in clear packaging. Ang laki ng tipid ko.

4. I have a Maxisaver account (BPI) wherein, monthly may tubo and may additional tubo if wala kang withdrawals for the month.

5. Nagbabaon ako ng lunch. Dito talaga ako nakakatipid.

6. Hindi ako nag ffx. Jeep jeep lang ako. Nasa 15 pesos ata ang tipid ko (1-way, so 30 pesos 2-way) everyday yan.

7. Set a budget. And don't go beyond that as much as possible.

8. Magallot sa savings kahit magkano, or lets say, 500 per cut off. then the rest, pwede mo na gastusin sa kahit ano. As in kahit ano. Remember this equation:
Income/Salary-Savings=Disposable Income and not the other way around.

9. Don't use your credit card when you don't intend to pay the full amount come due date.

10. Minimize eating out

Yan muna for now. :)

^ I agree with all of that! Ako rin, I buy generic items sa supermarket basta same quality naman or di ko mapapansin kung generic or branded ang mabibili ko. I also bring lunch everyday, unless di ako nakaluto. Eating out is really expensive! I wish I could give up my car pero ang hirap pumunta sa work kung wala ito. Kung makalipat ng mas-convenient na workplace that's accessible by public transpo, I'll give up my car na!  ;D

Oh, I list everything I spend in a day... kahit maliit na amount lang. It helps me keep track of my budget. I mark it in RED in my weekly planner. Sometimes ginagawa ko syang game.... dapat walang red for one week! LOL :)

Thousands to even tens of thousands of pesos rin ang matitipid.

I'm not sure if makakatipid ako sa "Kakilala". Like my dentist (his a Family Friend since my childhool), they still charged me the same amount na chinacharge nila to others because they follow the rules and regulations ng dentistry group nila (All dentists in the Philippines).

I also have a IT Friend who I've asked to make a design template for me, mura nga, but sadly tinamad sya so ang tagal inabot (6 months to be exact) bago magawa mga templates. The templates are soo simple lang naman. Nakaka-disappoint pero wala naman ako magawa, because she is a friend.

Marami pa, di ko na maalala. In short, hindi sya applicable to me. Sadly, but true.

Like what we did nung kasal namin.

So in the end, hindi ko rin nagustuhan yung ending. Hehe.

But as I’ve said, this is applicable to me.

For Globe Pre-paid users:
if you load using GCASH that's 10% off.

I do my own laundry kaya malaki natitipid ko dun.

Every payday, nagtatabi ako ng money for my savings.

Pero tama rin na wag super tipid. For example, you are craving for chocolates, bili ka pero small size lang. Para mapagbigyan lang yung cravings mo. Kasi kung sinuppress mo yan, malulungkot ka. Ending, bibili ka ng marami, Hehe.

Nagbabaon din ako ng lunch. Though not everyday. Kasi sometimes nakakasawa rin yung baon ko. But at least on the days na nagbabaon ako, nakakatipid ako.

Example is kung mahilig ka sa accessories, you can sell it din. Hope it helps   ;D
