I successfully convinced him na mag-ipon and now he is very motivated na to do it kasi nakikita nya every month na lumalaki na net worth namin. We also track our expenses every month and pinapakita ko rin sa kanya yung excel, doing this we became aware kung nag-ooverspend ba kami on something unnecessary. I think nakakatulong talaga if may record.

sis yena^_^, gagawin ko rin yan. ngayon medyo nauumpisahan ko na siyang paliwanagan tungkol  sa pagtitipid. and one more thing, isa pa sa nagiging dahilan ng problema namin when it comes to money eh yong brother niya na pag nanghiram ng pera wala ng bayaran. i mean, hindi naman ako nagdadamot. pero sa panahon ngayon, may binabayaran kaming bahay at mga dues at sapat lang ang pera namin. well, it's a different story. basta ngayon, uumpisahan na rin namin mag-record ng mga gastos. ang mahirap na baka dumating pa sa point na wala na kami talaga.

wow!

5k x 4 weeks = P20,000 per month or P240,000 per year.

hehe. couldn't help but compute!  :)

Money is easy to dispose so dapat pag-isipan natin ng maigi if it's worth it to spend that much. That's what I learned talaga coz for the past years wala talaga ako pakialam but now that I'm turning 30 nag-iba na yung pananaw ko when it comes to money..  I have savings, an investment and now isa lang ang credit card ko which means less yung binabayaran ko. Motto ko ngayon "think before you buy".. Disiplina lang talaga ang kailangan anyway tayo lang naman ang makikinabang not other people.

^I agree sis. I've made a lot of financial mistakes na wala akong ibang choice kung hindi ayusin mag-isa. It was a long process but I'm thankful for the lessons learned. Kasi ngayon, I totally value each centavo I spend.

Isang credit card lang din ako for the past 3 years now. Limit is P15,000.

pay it forward... that's what i said sa brother ni hubby na pinag-aral namin ng college

Wala nga kaming bisyo mag-asawa pero the BILs have. Sorry OT uli.

BTT, malaki rin ang masasave pag nagtrim down or tanggalin na talaga ang mga bisyo. Let say you spend 20 pesos per day sa cigarette, that would be 600+ a month and 7000+ a year, isama mo pa yung beer jan.

----------------

may nakita akong interesting recipe, how to make a starbucks frappuccino for $0.32 (or P12.48). magagawa sa bahay.

http://www.squawkfox.com/2011/06/16/frappuccino-recipe/

gasoline saving tips:

- try doing errands in one go, one day instead of doing errands one at a time across several days

- remove any unnecessary heavy things loaded in your car. heavy car load forces the car engine to use more gas.

- carpool with a friend

- walk. you also need the exercise.

- commute

- your car might not really need premium gasoline. check the car manual. higher octane gas is usually a waste of money

- if you are considering a car purchase, consider getting diesel ones. diesel costs much less per liter compared to gasoline.

- another consideration for a car purchase, consider getting cars with manual transmission - their gasoline consumption costs much less than automatics. plus maintenance expenses costs much less too than automatics. (driving manuals are kind of exciting too  ;))

- drive defensively. aggressive drivers waste gas because of the constant pushing of the acceleration then sudden braking afterwards. also, check the manual for the optimum driving speed - more commonly, speeds at more than 50 to 60 mph already decreases gas mileage rapidly. the higher the speed, the higher the drop in gas mileage.

- avoid excessive idling of the car. turn off engine when not needed. that too consumes plenty of gas.

- in highway driving, use the overdrive gear (usually the 5th gear) as often as you can. not only would you save gas but you also reduce engine wear

- check tire inflation. poorly inflated tires consumes more gas.

- have the car engine tuned up.

- turn off aircon when not needed.

those i can think of...

What I am doing right now is check all my old stuff and see if may mg magagamit pa ako dun keysa bumili na naman ako ng bago. If I want to buy something pero hindi ko naman talaga kailangan, I control myself na huwag na lang bilhin.

^---agree with the envelop method.  I use this for weekly spendings pero monthly ang budgeting.

example:  500 a week ang bayad sa tricycle na naghahatid sa kids sa school. that's 2000 a month.  the money comes from my 15th month salary.  itatago ko na ang buong 2000 at ilalagay sa envelop named DRIVER.  Every Friday I took 500pesos from this and give to manong.

Sure ako na by my 15th month salary, maglalagay ulit ako ng 2000 sa envelop para may pambayad kay manong.  Hindi man ito savings, pero it's a sure way of budgeting.
