Philequity nalang siguro talaga.

^dapat kasi i-maximize na ng FAMI ang online infrastructures. :-\ para sa sobrang busy na mga tao, iba talaga ang convenience of getting to do things online.

Ay, ha! Nakakaloka na ha! :P Nagbabasa-basa ako ng forums/blogs about Mutual Funds and the like para magkaroon ng deeper knowledge about it. Habang nagbabasa, "Aaaah, ganun pala." Then after a second, "Ano daw yun?" Haha! ;D Naiintindhan ko siya na hindi. Dinudugo isip ko :P

I'm super interested mag invest, pero hindi ko talaga alam kung saan or anong klase. Sa dame ng nababasa ko, naguguluhan na ako ;D

^ Sis, yes di rin pwede sa BDO online top-up but you can transact naman sa BDO kahit weekends. Also, I'm on their EIP.

Mga sis, may good news pala si FAMI.. pwede na online topup sa Unionbank according to their FB page (quoted below).. I guess nasa setup stage palang sila nung nagask si sis Katniss.. I guess meant to be kami ni FAMI ;D

Great News!

The FAMI funds are now merchants in Unionbank! You may now add to your investments using the Over-the-Counter Bills Payment Slip or the Unionbank Online Bills Payment facility!

Reminders:

- These payment methods may only be used for additional investments only.
- Please make sure that you input 8 digits for your FAMI Account number. An account number of less than 8 digits should have zeros before it to make it 8 digits. Ex: Account number 12345 should be written as 00012345.
- You no longer need to submit a FAMI Investment Application Form (IAF) when using this facility.

hi mga sis! question lang sa mga may philequity acct..first time ko nag top-up kanina, deposit ko sa bdo. based sa website nila, email ko lang yung scanned copy ng deposit slip and investment application form. after that, mag acknowledge ba sila sa kin thru email or need ko pa tumawag sa kanila to infom them about my deposit?

thanks very much!

^Sa akin, I always get a confirmation notice through email in the evening of the day my investment was placed. Wala nang tawag-tawag. But I don't know if that's because I'm enrolled in their email facility, or they're really prompt with sending their confirmation notices.

lol omg. sigh of relief! kasi nagsched ako ng payment nung August 27. nakalimutan ko pala alisin nung magmula nung nagtanong ako sa FAMI rep na sabi wala raw sila OL facility. ayun buti na lang legit pala to, kasi nabawasan ang balance ko! :) kaya lang after that, pano mo malalaman na pumasok investment mo? chineck ko sa FAMI online portal.. yung initial investment ko pa rin yung nandun eh. or need pang magantay ng ilang araw? :) thanks!

^^ wow, that's really nice. I hooe they keep it like that. My auto debit thingy ba sila, like RSP ng bpi? Hehe

Also, do you think placing your emergency fund in a bond fund is a little too risky? Granting you wont need it pa in 2-3 years time. Still contemplating between bond or money market for this.

^

Would you like to read what you said again?
You won't need to touch your emergency fund in
2 or 3 years?

So, are you expecting an emergency at that time? :p

The very definition of an emergency is that it can
happen at anytime.

I would suggest parking it in BPI's Short Term fund.
It has a next business day redemption policy.
So, its safe, earns a little bit higher than time deposits
and is very accessible.

^Bro mxherr5, I think what sis artificialstar, said is "granted" that she will use her emergency fund by 3rd or 2nd year.  She may not use it as the emergency MIGHT be within those years she specified. :)

^^^ the idea is I'd start building my emergency fund as early as now even if hindi ko pa siya need. I'm anticipating a big change in 2-3 years so pine-prepare ko na yung fund ngayon pa lang in case may emergency akong ma-encounter and have no one to rely on to. But of course, I want that money to earn a little more while it's just parking.  ::)

^ Yes sis, magandang time to invest ngayon kasi mura pa. :) Mas bababa pa siguro ang market in the coming days(this is not an assurance though).

hi guys,

Would just like to share some insights. yes, market is currently on the "bearish" side, meaning stocks are going down, so this is the best time to buy, buy, buy. As they say, "buy when prices are low", since you generate higher returns in a way.

I have tried FAMI, COL and PRU. With FAMI, it was really incovenient in a way to do top-ups, but I did have some gains :) With COL, since it is directly investing in the stock market, it is more risky, but I find it convenient because I transfer funds via my BPI online.

With PRU, I tried diversifying my portfolio,so that's why I got VUL. It offers protection plus investment. I also don't have to monitor my funds since this is also long term investing and it works like a forced savings for me too :)

@xtine, I'm a bro btw

Yeah I know and I totally disagree with
putting assumptions on emergency funds.

If she can anticipate and plan for something
then that something is not an emergency, does
that make sense?

What if the emergency does happen just months
from now and she's caught flatfooted? She'll
have to tap on banks or bombays or relatives
then?

@ artificialstar,

Oh, I thought you already have an emergency
fund stashed in a bank account somewhere and
you just wanted it to earn a little bit more
so you were thinking about moving it to
bond funds or money market funds.

I personally have one month's equivalent in
a high yielding savings account i.e. BPI Maxi Saver
para easily accessible thru ATM.

The rest is in BPI's Short Term fund which I
can get the next business day if in case I need
it.

***************

You also want to be careful about investing in
bond funds in lumpsum right now.
This year kasi, bond funds had a very good start
as in halos pang equities ang returns nila.
One of my bond funds reached as high as 12%

Tapos biglang bumagsak at tumataas nanaman ulit
ngayon.

In otherwords, medyo weird behavior ng bond funds.
Pero kung mag cocost average ka naman then I think
its ok.

Thanks for sharing your experience terranova. Would you mind sharing how long have you been invested in each and which one has posted the best gains for you?

To others out there who are still new to this, please do note that the three investment vehicles terranova mentioned are very different animals. FAMI is the mutual fund out of the three. COL or Citisec Online is a stock broker, through whom you can buy shares of stocks of your own choosing (and managing). PRU or PRU Life is an insurance company, so naturally, their investments always have an insurance component. Would just like to point that out -- I remember back when I was a newbie, I'd get so easily confused with the different terms and companies.

@ikaela:

yay, sorry sis, might have confused people with my post. Thanks for pointing that out. Yes, FAMI is the mutual fund, COL is my online stockbroker and PRU is insurance + investment (VUL).

Started with FAMI last year, around June. Roughly around 20% was my gain, since I mainly invested on their SALEF (my risk appetite is adventurous). I started my COL account November of last year, and since the market was bullish 3 months ago, returns from some companies like MER did yield an astonishing 30-35% gain and other stocks from MBT, BDO yielded  around 15-20%.

With PRU, I just started last month hence I could not give you any feedback. But based on the Fund Fact Sheet that the company is providing, based on historical performance, fund growth varies from 14- 20% depending on the type of fund (though historical performance should not be entirely relied on). -- this one might be applicable more on the other thread :p

Just trying to compare :)
