Im a newbie sa stock world especially kay COL.. may may tanong pa ako tulad ng pano yung computation ng gain/loss nila, what company/ies ang magandang bilhan ng stocks, etc.  I hope maraming magshare ng knowledge and experience nila  ;)

Hi! COL has a list of recommended companies that you can buy on a particular period. You can download the "Investment Guide" available at the homepage of COL and the old Citiseconline site.

@sis hotchick_19, if you already enrolled in COL, you can always ask question to their costumer service and also you can also find a lot of information on their site. They also provide seminars.

kaya walang computation ng gain at loss dahil it would depend sa hawak mong stocks at any given day at any given time.  every second na bukas ang market magbabago ang value ng stock na hawak mo.  this isn't like UITF or MF na computed ang value hours after the market closes at iyon ang magiging NAV nya for the following day.

i suggest you create a watchlist sa bloomberg.  create an account or sign up using FB.  pwede ka virtually mag-add ng mga type mong stocks at makikita mo doon ang value ng portfolio mo, real time.

@hotchick_19

gain/loss is calculated per fluctuation of the prices of the stock you are holding in a particular day plus all the fees (commission, taxes, etc.)

So the value that you see in your COL portfolio will be the same amount you will get if ever you will sell your stock because they already factored out all the fees you will incur if you sell. Hope this help... ;D

And their customer service is really helpful, isang email ko lang sa kanila sagot agad.

Within a year of investing in bank equities, I computed my average rate of return to be around 10%.  Compare this with stocks (thru COL) which in about 6 months provide the same returns, more or less.

I just can't get over the liquidity issues (perception ko lang) that's why I am not investing a lot of money on stocks.  Sa bank UITF kasi I feel comfortable that the bank is just a call away in case you want to redeem.

What's your experience in redeeming your shares through COL?  Will they eventually be credited to your bank account (where you transfer money from) or do you really have to get the check from COL office in Ortigas?

^---it will be credited to your nominated bank account... although i haven't tried first-hand, my COL account is for very long term fund.  Either college fund of kids or retirement fund namin ni hubby.

i have bank UITF for emergency fund

Hope this help sa mga iba nating sis. For your info lang po  :) :)

Market Value = Market price x Total Share - Sell Transaction Charges (makikita ang Charges sa website ng COL)

Total Cost =Average Cost x Total Share

Gain/ Loss = Market Value - Total Cost

Gain/Loss % = Gain/Loss / Total Cost

I already did it twice. I went to their office directly and filled out the withdrawal form, after 2 days my money have been credited to my savings account. Though there's an option where you can request it thru e-mail with attached withdrawal form.

@MissOnline

Yung TRC is a group that will teach you financial literacy, they will give ebooks and inspirational interview to some successful businessmen and give you guide what stocks to pick, buy and sell.

COL is a stock market broker, it is also the broker that is recommended by TRC member to use but you can use other brokers aside.
