BORACAY Wedding (Thread 2)

Question mga sis -- are you/did you hire an events stylist for your reception, or is the coordinator able to provide that na rin? I have a vague idea of how I want our wedding to feel/look like (we're doing the ceremony and reception in one place na), pero with props and all that, diba an events stylist would provide that? Or would the coordinator help sourcing for those? I don't understand how those beautiful weddings I've seen in various sites managed to have those props eh!

Can I just...express myself -- naloloka ako ng konti kay fiance kase parang hindi niya gets ang concept ng weddings! To be fair, he's never attended a wedding, so he's always like "but I thought we agreed we're going to have a small wedding" na as if pag small wedding wala ng theme and decorations and achuchuchu! Ang pinakaconcern niya is "can we have a roast pig?" Nakeeeerrr lang!


sis darkhorse did you do an ocular ba? If you did, did you go with someone from Amanda's team, or just you and H2B?

^ nope we did not hire an event stylist kasi dagdag sa gastos eh. i inquired dati kay gideon hermosa at pat pastelero because i've seen a wedding pat that she styled in asya it was beautiful kaso super mahal ng quote niya sakin. her rates for boracay  usually start at about 180k for 150pax. It's a bit tough for her to bring the cost down daw as she needs to spend at least 3 days there and her team 4-5 days (including roro travel time). aside from the 180 or 150K styling fee meron pang misc fee na about 83K php for their flights, mga 8 people sila sa team, transfers, accommodation etc etc fees. kay gideon naman halos the same ang styling fee + misc din and ang team niya na dadalhin is 15 people.. when i discussed that with my husband ayaw niya sabi niya that is too much. kaya we opt not to get one anymore and i did the styling myself with Amanda's help + Asya. i gave them all the pegs i wanted for the tables, reception area, cocktails area. ako na din nagdala ng mg props/materials na need for styling. meron akong mga nirequest kay amanda na iba pero konti lang kasi namamahalan ako sa mga quotes niya sakin sa bawat request ko so mas nakatipid ako. ex. wedding signs she quoted me 4000 php ata per sign? eh halos madami akong sign na gusto so pinagawa ko sa manila kakilala ko nagbayad lang ako ng 1700 php for all the signs na gusto ko.. then dinala ko na lang sa boracay. even the place card holders ako din nagdala. pati the print outs ng table names etc dinala ko lahat. nag offer naman si amanda na siya gagawa kaso may particular kasi akong gusto then may bayad din ang printing sa kanya. in short lahat ng extra babayaran mo pa din kay amanda + sa asya. hope these help kahit paano.

sis chicgurl omg nakakalula nga the quotes! I don't think the fiance will go for it. I mentioned nga lang na may 'theme' sa weddings he was like "It's a wedding not a dress up 21st birthday party!" Nakeeerr lang. How much did you spend for the whole thing, if you don't mind me asking? And I watched your video plus another wedding held in Asya din, and I think I will have to scratch Asya off the list just because of that entrance. Hindi ko kaya na all eyes on me while navigating those steps while mega kaba! Haha! Very nice venue though, I like the rock formation next to the venue. Did you have your preps in Asya or a different hotel? Also, was the lechon included in Asya's menu or did you request na dagdag (and if so, how much was it)? Sorry ang daming tanong!


sis dreamweaver83 I think one of the girls hired Marcelo Tolentino. I was back reading again, so mga page 8 or 9 yata yung post niya about him.


ETA I've been sort of set on Seawind as a venue, kaso after watching a few videos of ceremonies being held there by their beachfront, medyo nakakaturn off na there's lots of strangers about! There's this one vid pa na while bride mas doing her entrance (the camera was on her right), kita ko on her left side yung mga nakaupo sa deck chairs watching! I don't want, I think. What other venues are there na quite private ang beach? Shangri La is not in the budget hehe. I'm trying to get Sol Marina rates but their website is down so I don't know how to contact them.

@gj1206: hey sis oo nakakalula talaga hehe and hindi naman namin priority ang styling kaya we are not willing to pay that much. siguro if it was a city wedding kukuha pa kami pero bring them all sa boracay is a big gastos haha sayang ang pera kaya naging practical kami. Nag search search na lang ako ng mga gusto kong pegs at style and we pulled it off on the wedding day. sariling sikap with the help of Amanda, her team and Asya.

yung nagastos lahat lahat nako malaki laki din.. cant say the exact amount pero lagpas 2M php din most likely.. we paid lots of extras sa Asya, nag upgrade kami ng flowers para sa reception set up mga 15K php ata dagdag para mas madaming flowers. yung lechon we paid for it too as extra + corkage fee pa..  sorry i cant remember how much was the lechon pero more or less nasa 10k php? kasi lechon de leche yung maliit lang.. then nag add pa kami ng mga BBQ, spare ribs, beef ribs etc etc kaya dumami haha.. as in super daming food lahat naubos.. sa Asya kami nag prep sis both me and my husband. and true nakakatakot bumama sa hagdan ng Asya super dasal ako na wag akong mahulog ang taas pa naman ng shoes ko haha..

Another question mga sis -- yung garden overlooking the beach venue na I keep seeing in some Boracay wedding videos -- is that just ShangriLa? Or may ganon din ba an other venues?

^ literal ginawa ko, one step at a time.. haha bahala sila maghintay sa akin sa baba.. importante hindi ako gumulong.. it was freaking scary esp taas ng shoes ko nasa 4inches yung heels or 5 ata?

actually yung first dance namin surprise lol.. may pa effect pa kami.. una slow dance as what everyone would expect diba? mix siya ng 4 songs sis.. una the way you look tonight by michael buble, then segue to olivia newton john song haha then sway by pussycat dolls then blurred lines yung ending naming song then sabay fireworks + ininvite na namin yung ibang guests to dance with us.. it was sooo fun haha.. at ang hubby ko feel na feel niya din sumayaw.. actually siya ang may idea niyan.. nagpractice kami 1 hour lang day before the wedding hahaha tipong bahala na! magkalat na lang..

^ hahaha i love the term "bahala na magkalat na lang". looks super fun nga yung part na "nagkakalat" na kayo dun. ganun lang kasi yung gusto namin, hiphop songs, booty-slap dancing and the likes haha!

so far maganda pa din weather sa boracay kahit slight maulan na dito sa Manila hehe

^hahaha oo yun talaga sabi ko sa kanya bahala na we will just have fun. we don't want formal na formal kasi parang corny lol. meron din kaming ganyan booty slapping hinahampas ko siya hahaha while nagboobooty shake siya haha tapos nagffireworks haha it was really fun. i think the key on the day itself is have fun just have fun. yung mga nakita kong konting flaws pinabyaan ko na hehe wala naman na akong magagawa masstress lang ako.. oo nga maganda pa din weather dami kong friends na nagbobora pa din hehe

^ ganon na nga lang sis. ngayon pa lang nakamindset na ko na kahit anong flaws magkaron sa wedding hayaan na lang and itawa. sobrang feel ko nga yung support ng isang online community (w@w) ngayon kasi ang dami nilang binigay sa kin that helped me a lot sa preps. hehe.

kaso ngayon kainis lang yung relatives namin. sila pa talaga nakakacause ng stress. considering na destination wedding yung amin and halfway na ang June, hindi pa magsabi kung gora ba talaga sila or hindi para maayos na sana namin detailing sa Sol Marina. toinx!

^ ganon talaga may mga guests na super paimportante hahaha sorry to say but it's so true.. kami nga a day before the wedding saka magsasabing di pupunta pero nag confirm?! hello haha.. hinayaan ko na lang.. ang ginawa ko was mga 2 to 3 weeks before the wedding i pressured everyone we invited na sumagot ng YES or NO. kung maybe i will consider it as NO. in fairness naman napressure sila at nagsisagot kaya ang di talang dumating samin na originally na hindi pupunta ay 2 guests lang pati yung mga tita ko binigyan ko talaga ng deadline kasi need talaga ng headcount at hindi ako willing magbayad ng sobra sobra sa resort tapos hindi pupunta sayang ang pera.

^ naku same sentiments ako ngayon sis (sorry for ranting haha!) parang hindi nila magets na iba yung policy ng payment dun compared dito na kung gusto mo lang umattend susulpot ka, pag hindi keri lang. sabi ko sa kanila end of this month magsipagconfirm na para malaman na talaga kung ilan ang sasama. ang wala sa list hindi papasukin sa resort (kunwari hehe) para mapressure din hehe

I'm just wondering if anyone has suggestions for bands? We'd prefer a small band that would play reggae or jazz.

And ang ganda nung dance idea niyo! Buti game kayong dalawa. Weird ba pag walang dance sa kasal? Kase to be honest ayoko ng may dance eh... :/

Another question sis (sorry andaming tanong!) -- did you have to look for a florist for the reception dahil nag specific decorations ka dun, or Asya na ang source nun for you depending on your pegs?

hello sis.. we asked our coordinator Amanda to get Marvin and his band from BOMBOM Bar since favorite sila ng husband ko.. they play reggae at ok ang music nila.. we loved it.. for jazz sorry wala akong alam.. kung may coordinator ka for sure help ka niya to find one.. dami bands sa boracay eh..

hello sis.. si asya na yung nagsource out ng extra flowers na ni request ko nag add na lang ako sa babayaran. basta sinabi ko sa kanila how i want it and sila na yung nagayos at nagstyle at bumili ng mga flowers.. yung brother ko mga last 5 steps niya na lang ako inalalayaan pero yung from sa taas ako lang talaga.. one step at a time talaga ang ginawa ko.. kasi baka mahulog ako mahirap na.. just relax and dahan dahan talaga.. presence of mind din haha di nama weird pag walang dance nasa sa inyo naman yan eh. kumbaga kanya kanyang trip haha pero for sure hahanapin yun ng mga bisita niyo..
