This happened 7 years ago so mejo forgive me.  He was born 4 weeks ahead, on april 15, good saturday.  Emergency cs kasi una scheduled ako (i'm 37 na rin, and his my only pregnancy after 10 years of trying, ivf din sya). He had breastmilk till he was 4 and a half.  He's nice, sweet, every mom's and dad's dream.

hello everyone, premature ang baby ko at 36 weeks. isa lang ang masasabi ko lalo na sa mga first time moms. actually nabanggit na ng iba, pero uulitin ko lang. feed your baby na nakaelevate ang head! and remain on incline for at least 30 mins before putting her down! burp as much as possible! much better if hawak mo sya! napakalaking mali na nagawa ko ito, since im a 1st time mom, nagrerely lang ako sa mom and mil ko, everyone is saying wag kalungin, masasanay daw so if ifeed nakahiga. hay nako pag naiisip ko i want to turn back time! nagkapnuemonia baby ko and i suspect ito ang dahilan. at 6 weeks she was hospitalized 3 days ni-suck ang liquid out of her lungs 90% blocked na airways nya. nightmare ito talaga. from then on wala na kumokontra, i feed her on incline parati and even have her sleep on me nkadapa and inclined. tiis lang talaga eventually mag aadjust din ang baby, mahihiga na din yan ng maayos. part of being a mother yan. kahit ganun ang baby ko, hindi naman sya nasanay sa karga. dumating sya sa point @ 6 months na ayaw na nga magpafeed na karga ko, gusto nakahiga sya so now i just put a pillow under her head. but i still watch out for signs if she wants to burp. now she is doing very well, ang laki nga nya for her age, parang hindi nga raw premie sabi ng doc ko. so its not true na kesyo masasanay sa karga, at least in my case. i hope meron akong matulungan sa post ko na ito.

my baby girl was just almost 36weeks nung ipinanganak ko, emergency CS.

it was january 1 ( around 6am ) i noticed my jammies were wet so i quickly changed and natulog ako ulit. at first i thought napawiwi ako, i woke up at around 8am and wet na naman jammies ko. so sinabi ko na sa tita ko. she quickly called my OB tapos pinaadmit na ko sa hospital. akala ko imomonitor lang kami ni baby but then nilagyan na ko ng dextrose and they loaded antibiotic na kasi more than 8hours na nagleleak yung bag of water ko, madaling araw pa kasi nagstart. while waiting for my OB may kinabit sila sa tyan ko pangmonitor ng heartbeat ni baby. at 11am dumating si OB, told me kailangan na inalabas si baby kasi muka naman malakas sya. i cried. kasi alam ko na hindi pa talaga time para ilabas si baby but i have no choice kasi baka mainfect na sya inside. 1pm ipinasok ako ng OR, 1:32pm lumabas si baby, 2.7kgs. nung magising ako narinig ko may umiiyak na baby, nakatulog ako ulit. nung magising ako ulit may umiiyak pa rin na baby so i called the nurse and asked her sino yung umiiyak na baby, she said "baby nyo po ma'am". i was about to feed her kaya lang wala pa akong milk. nung nasa room na ko they told me may ABO Incompatibility si baby kaya need sya iphototherapy. 7days sya sa NICU. nung iniuwe sya sa bahay she was so thin. yung balat nya super kulubot pa, naiyak ako sa awa ko kay baby. after 2 weeks ibinalik namin sya sa hospital to check her bilirubin level, twice namin yun ginawa, nakakaawa talaga sya kasi iyak sya ng iyak while getting blood from her.

now she's 5 months old already and very makulit. nasurprise pedia nya kasi tumaba si baby ng bongga. she's more than 8 kilos now :)  yung eyesight nya hindi naman delay, almost 2 months sya nung nanotice namin na nakakaaninag na sya. minsan nga naisip ko parang ang bilis ng paggrow ni baby kasi at 2 months nakakadapa na sya though hindi nya pa nabubuhat ng matagal yung ulo nya that time. 3 months sya nung lage nya na tinutuwid yung legs nya ,yung parang gusto nya na nakatayo sya :)

i even consulted her pedia and my OB for her having a different blood type from me and her dad. im O, her dad B and she's A. they said that happened but very rare.  :)

My baby is 9mos old and weighted 6.2 kg. Actually, quite worry talaga ko kc ang liit nya compared sa kuya who is 7 yrs old now, @ 3 mos, his weight was 7 kls. Although, consistent ang well-baby check-up namin, sabi naman ng pedia nya, nothing to worry, kc normal lang for a premie baby. Her pedia keeps on reminding me na wag i-consider ang development nya based sa corrected age nya. Mga mommy, any tips pra mag-gain ng weight the baby girl namin. Thanks in advance.:)

^sis eversince ba mababa ang weight ni baby mo? baka mahina sya magfeed ( or she's teething?? )

most people say na matakaw/malakas magfeed ng baby boys compare sa girls. are they both premmie? kasi kung hindi naman talagang malaki ang difference kasi full term yung isa the other one is not.

my baby girl was born sobrang payat nya, as in kulubot ang balat, now she's almost 6 months and i think she's around 9kilos, nagulat nga ang pedia nya kasi hindi nya raw inexpect na tataba ng ganun si baby. what i did sis tsinaga ko sa iexclusive breastfeed when she refused drinking formula, dun talaga sya tumaba ng bongga. she's into vitamins rin, before ceelin and tikitiki, now she's into pedzinc and growee.
BTW she was just almost 36 weeks nung ipinanganak ko.

Hi mommies,

I feel na alone ako with baby's situation right now. :) But I don't mind! I do not wish for it to happen to other mommies with what happened to my baby.

Rubella measles infected ako nung 5weeks palang preggy. I did not even know at that time preggy ako, but when I saw the rashes, napa isip ako na hindi pa rin dumating period ko. So I dreaded for the worst and went to the hosp to be evaluated. at that day ko lang nalaman na preggy pala ako. Nung pumunta ako sa OB, she referred me to a infectious disease specialist. It was when my fear was confirmed. Rubella talaga, not normal rashes lang.

Since then I was closely monitored by my OB. I will not relay the details kasi parang ang haba nah... (-_-) But my son was born last Dec 5, he is 36weeks and 2days gestational age, only weight 1.3kilos, he is an IUGR baby kasi due to his 2-vessel umbilical cord na meron pang coil. May cataracts both eyes (but not yet clear when he was born), he has PDA (an open vein in the heart that's supposed to close after baby's 1st breath) and VSD (hole in the heart) but thankfully naman it is not a huge one. At meron din Inguinal Hernia. He spend 2weeks and 3days in the NICU since anemic siya. Very low platelet nya, at ang putla. Still going to be tested this Aug for his hearing kasi hindi nakasya yung apparatus for hearing test sa nursery. We're just happy that when he was born, he was able to breathe on his own and fed well too. He is also active & even have the loudest cry in the nursery. God is so good, when He closes a door, he opens a window. :)

He is our 1st born, being a new mom and encountering these different things at once is very overwhelming. Financially, it is draining us, pero again God is so good, he provided us with a lot of help from families and friends.

Personally, it was stressful and frustrating lalo na colic si baby for several months. He would cry for no reason at all for 3 long hours. And feeling ko at those moments, mas mahaba pa yun kesa 9months pregnancy lol! pero good thing he has calmed down nah, pero here comes the teething phase. But buti nalang kung iiyak si baby dahil sa teething, we can soothe him with a baby oral gel.

Marami talaga akong natutunan from pregnancy up to being a mom with my little angel. There was even a point that I thought I would lose him when he had a seizure and we rushed him to the ER. Na iiyak ako while we were on our way back home from the ER. My husband did not even know how to comfort me at that time kasi we felt the same.

Pero kahit marami na kaming napagdaanan dahil kay baby, masaya naman kami kasi he really fought against all odds just to be here with us. I feel na mas marami pa kaming blessings that we should be thankful for.

God is good mga mommies, kahit ganito babies natin, hinding-hindi nya tayong pababayaan. Everything happens for a reason, we just need to open our hearts and mind so we could understand what God is trying to tell us.

Right now we're waiting for my son's PDA Ligation, after the operation we will proceed with the cataract removal from his eyes then we will do therapy. low muscle tone kasi siya.

But nonetheless, we're thankful for everything we have gone through. :)

Sorry napahaba yung post ko. (-_-)

shanmar sis same tayo boy and girl din baby ko. NICU 5k per day but that is in Asian hospital. January 6 this year ako nanganak.
Kasi usually that is the cause ng may eye problems baby na nasa NICU i was told.

Nope, he was able to breathe on his own kasi I was given steroids shots nung day 1 ko sa hospital. His lungs were given time to mature. His cataracts are actually due to the virus that infected me while pregnant.

My son was born 36weeks 2days sis. 2weeks 3days siya sa NICU, was able to come home before Christmas. :) He stayed longer kasi sa NICU due to low platelet count.

By the way, were you given magnesium? This will control the contractions.  Have you had your NST too? So that they could check if baby's heart rate is normal, at hindi sila stressed. I had NST everyday yun sa hospital while admitted.

2.5pounds is already a good weight sis. Don't worry. If you were given steroids shots, then they have a good chance to breathe on their own. Did you have any BPP??? So that the doctor could check if they already have a breathing pattern? Be ready lang sis, in terms kasi in size, they will really look very small and frail compared to fullterm babies, pero it's normal for them. They will grow naman at a good rate (depends on their pace) as long as healthy lang sila. My baby kasi is frail until now but this is due to his heart anomalies and being a congenital rubella syndrome baby.

Actually, it's better din kasi if they are out as soon as possible if the uterine environment is not healthy for them anymore. In that way, they could grow much better.

Keep us posted sis, and I hope that you are doing well.

Will pray for you. :) God bless sis! stay strong.

Near term baby ko since he got out 36weeks 2days.

Sis, don't worry much on your breastmilk. They only need 2.5ml to satisfy their appetite sa 1st feeding nila. What I did is that I pumped my milk. I was able to have milk after 20mins or so of pumping.

The 1st milk (colostrum) is very very important most especially sa preemie babies sis. It's good that you chose breastmilk over formula. Madali kasi nilang mapalabas yung meconium nila.
http://www.parentingstartshere.com/index.php/2013/03/15/ten-surprising-facts-about-premature-babies-and-breastmilk/

Sis, don't forget to do kangaroo care too (http://www.marchofdimes.com/baby/holding-your-baby-close-kangaroo-care.aspx) once they are out nah. It helps them recover pretty quickly from the NICU and helps them regulate their temp quickly too. Sayang nga hindi ko ito nalaman nung nasad NICU baby ko, would have loved to do this for him.

Sis shanmar, my babies were born 33 weeks via pedia's assessment 34 weeks by my perinatologist. Target namin was 36 weeks but I had emergency CS due to pre eclampsia (which was partly my fault kasi Christmas season and hindi talaga ako nagingat sa food.) So I suggest konting tiis nalang naman eh tiisin mo na. But other than that, I had all the major complications of pregnancy.
1. Gestational diabetis (twin pregnancy)
2. Hypothyroidism (which was detected by my endocrinologist who managed my gdm)
3. APAs borderline ako i was on aspilet until week 20
4. I had pre glaucoma (kaya maliban sa perinatologist ko may glaucoma specialist pako)

Anyway, I was mostly worried about my detected hypothyroidism because prior to getting pregnant wala naman ako nito I was monitored every 6 months. Magaling lang talaga ang endocrinologist ko I should say kasi she knew right away something was wrong when I complained bakit po ako hindi constipated while pregnant? Im the opposite.

Pre term labor at 4 months, imagine that! So bed rest ako until I reached 6 months.

Anyway, regarding breastmilk, magready ka na nga bec at 33 weeks I didnt have milk! It took one month of pumping (yes one month!) saka lang ako nagkamilk and I was told by my cardiologist na i couldnt drink water much very regulated kasi nagmanas ako sobra because of magnesium. So hindi kami nag Kangaroo hold because of emergency CS and until may swero ako hindi ako pinayagan ng Asian Management to see my baby! Imagine i think more than 24 hours hindi ko nakita mga anak ko. Or maybe bec i really had bad blood pressure. 180/110 while giving borth 150/100 after birth. Plus bad trip bec they asked me to sign a waiver stating na I am allowing to give formula to my babies kasi gutom na gutom na and I had no milk! They can take breastmilk but from a premature mother too. eh hello sino bang premature mother na magbibigay eh kung premature na one month lang difference sa mga anak ko magbibigay ba yun? So while I didnt have breastmilk I convinced my then Pedia na fullterm baby ang magdonate ng breastmilk. Adding to that, I had to stop breastfeeding after a month nung kakastart ko palang bec of my meds. They needed to be on a higher dose kasi my Manas was that bad, as in mas mabigat ako kesa bago ako manganak.

My baby boy first day niya nagoxygen but ok naman eyes niya. My baby girl did not. Boy weighed 1.9 kilos girl weighed 1.7 kilos ideal naman sa age nila for twins. They stayed sa NICU for 10 days only.

Words of wisdom: Collect breastmilk if you can early on. I was also given injection for their lungs to mature as early as 26 weeks. Pedia's PF (natatawaran) OB's PF (nakakalula) aside from Anes (depending on Ob's pf) Sa bill ata ako mas na high blood more than seeing my babies.
