Do you have Premature babies?.. how do you deal/handle with it??

Hi Sis and Mommies out there, I would like to ask how you deal and take care with your preemie baby?..

I also have a preemie baby 8 mo now... people say he is smaller at his age but our pedia says it's normal because he was born premature...

He also eats solid food na.. any advice what solid food I can gave to my baby?

Had a preemie little girl last Nov 2011
October of that year evening i was feeling sick, experience blurred vision and a bad headache so hubby took me to MMC emergency they gave me the first course of steroid injections for his lungs and need to monitor me and baby, baby was doing ok but needed to stay at delivery room for more test. My protein results went up, blood pressure was 250/120, growth scan showed baby was doing ok.  My due date will be Jan 19 2012 so my OB recommend to stay at the hospital for monitoring. 
After 2 weeks I am doing ok, no trace of anything but just a high bp. I requested my OB na I'll just stay home and bargain to visit the MMC as per scheduled of tests and she agree but to monitor my condition everyday.

On the 17th of November it was my schedule doppler (machine to monitor baby's heartbeat) it was 9am that time i experience contractions 1st test showed baby's heart rate kept dropping 2nd test every minute coming there is contractions babys heart rate dropped, decided to call my ob and try to stop contractions.  OB arrived she said he already talk to my husband for emergency deliver  baby got distressed so decision was made to deliver the baby. 2pm i delivered a little girl in 1.2kgs. at 29 weeks seen her lying on my hand so tiny so i was so scared. She was at nicu for 5days of not visiting her. I had allergy after delivery and feeling sick. Pedia recommend that i should look and talk to her everyday and produce milk for her to gain weight. But i have no milk...I tried every 3hours to pump and still no milk. I almost gave up then  Pedia said mommy its only your voice and your bmilk can make her live. And by that i condition myself and set my mind that i should produce bmilk. I eat well, take enough sleep, drink more liquids and get good massage.  After that I produce milk but not enough but there are mommys in nicu donated milk.
To make the story short we survived until christmas day of 2011 I cried to our pedia that i wanted to celebrate christmas at our home with our little girl and so we did. Now she is already 1year and 1 month  growing healthy and bubbly super kulit na. Sorry sobrang haba.

My first baby (babygirl) was born premature too at 32 weeks. Now she is 8y/o wala namang problema sa kanya aside from makulet which normal naman sa mga bata. At ang laking bu;as niya ngayon. And nag to-top pa siya sa class nila. Na rerecognize lagi. 

32 weeks ako nun and I woke up madaling araw 4a.m. nag cr at may blood sa undies ko. We went to the hospital right away contracting na rin. Sobrang sakit na ng contractions di na nakuha sa medicine para mag stop ang contractions. At 6a.m i gave birth NSD 32weeks. She was 4.6 lbs. Naiwan siya for a week sa hopital. Na-incubator. At that time nag stop ang milk ko dahil wala pa ata kc too early pa kaya wala pa ko milk kahit may pump nako at pinipilit na talaga.

Nung nauwi na namin siya. Maliit siya super alaga at halis di kami mayulog ni mama nun at father niya. Neosure ang formula na binigay ng pedia niya. At close monitoring. Biglang laki niya sa neosure. Thanks God and nalampasan na namin yun.

After 2 years got pregnant again (another girl) and super nag ingat na good thing she was born at 38 weeks.

After 6 years I'm pregnant again now at 26 weeks. This time boy (we're so happy)  . Though nagwowork pa din super ingat ang ginagawa kasi may history na ng pre term.

when po nagstart matuto naglatch si baby nyo? and what week kayo nagkamilk or days after giving birth? nakakafrustrate magpump ng magpump na wala naman lumalabas

My youngest (3rd son) was born last Aug. 2010. He was a premature baby at 36 weeks. He was not placed in an incubator but he had undergone phototherapy for more than a month - dun nga yata nangitim yung anak ko samantalang maputi kami. hehe.

Anyway, he gets sick madalas even now that he is 2 years old. I almost lost him when he was 3 months old. He was diagnosed with severe pneumonia but thank God, He allowed me to keep my son with us and made him stronger. Miracle baby.

Maingat ako with him until now but he's now such a big boy. Napakakulit and so energetic.

Sis jdin25, halos magkaweeks lang din tayo nung nilabas si baby.. same thing it's our doppler visit that time when my OB decided to na magemergncy CS ako..
What milk na ni baby mo ngayon?..formula milk na si baby sobra hina talaga ng milk ko.. kelan lumaki si baby mo? si baby his 8months but weighing only 6kg. nung lumabas sya 990grams lang [textspeak!] nun.. 

Sis NiceAcey, neosure din si baby ko.. kahit gusto ko ng bf kaso [textspeak!] talaga milk hindi ba dahil din un kasi pre-mature ang mga baby kaya ganun. Wow mag3 kids kana... sna kami din..   natatakot lang ako ma-premature ulit next baby ko.

Since it was 8 yrs ago, ang naalala ko Neosure talaga ang formula ni baby. Premie formula, till 1 year ata yun. Saka nalang pinalitan ng pedia niya. Talagang tumaba si baby sa twing dadalaw nga sa bahay tita ko tapos sakto naman na binibihisan ko si baby, sinasabi niya na ang ganda ng katawan ni Nice (name of my daughter). Kasi kita naman sa katawan niya na malaman talaga. 

I think it helps talaga yung formula, with vitamins pa ni binigay si pedia at complete vaccine siya.

sis design21 nagbabasa din ako sa thread nyo 1sr quarter of 2013. Sa 2nd quarter 2013 naman ako kasali. Twins ata sayo diba. Don't worry sis malalampasan mo rin yan basta super alaga at bantay lang sa mga babies. Nung nag preterm din ako sumakit talaga boobs ko nilagnat pako dahil sa sobrang sakit. Hayun wala naman akong magawa kc nasa incubator si baby kundi mag pump na lang at ilagay sa feeding bottle as advice din ng nurse. Pero konti lang talaga ang lumalabas na milk. Kaya since 1 week before na discharge si baby, wala na talaga milk that time.

Sa second baby ko, after two yrs  (baby girl ulet) full term na siya. From birth breastfed siya. Until nag 1 year onwards ayaw huminto eh breastfed and formula din.

Now sa 3rd baby ko (baby boy na due April 17,2013) ang plano ni hubby breastfeed sa first 3 mos. Then since I'll go back to work din after mga 2-3 mos eh mag formula na din siya. Wish ko lang maawat ko nun.

sis Lucky_mom oo nga sis 3 na baby ko. Sa 2nd partner ko na to this time married na kami (hubby ko na). Dun sa una partner ko we had 2 kids namin girls relationship didn't work and we did marry. Ok na ko sa 3 kids para mabigay ko din mga needs nila. At ok na rin si hubby sa baby boy namin. Nung una gusto niya 2 kids pa 1 boy and 1 girl. Nung na confirmed na boy na, ok na daw. 

Sa kin lang sis since may history na tayo ng pre term birth ingat ingat nalang. Ganun ginawa ko sa 2nd baby so full term na siya. Ngayon working pa nga ko eh. Iniiwasan ko lang matagtag. May lagi akong baon na duvadillan para sa twing alam ko na maglalakad ako ng mahaba haba eh nag te take ako nito. Also pray na maging full term si baby. I know someone din na ang first baby niya pre mature sa 2nd full term na.

When my youngest was born I hired a new maid, she has 6 kids and she's at 40 and up na so I know okay siya. We trusted her because I can see naman how she is with my youngest, when I went back to work after 2 months dun nagsimula. Si baby pala, napapadede na hindi elevated ang ulo, milk comes out from his nose and mouth and hindi sinasabi ng yaya sa amin na madalas pala mangyari yun. I have repeatedly mentioned that and hindi pala niya sinusunod at sa takot siguro kaya hindi rin sinasabi sa akin and since I go home at 12am, tulog na ako pag-uwi ko, she bathes my son pala at 4:30 am. Jusko, of course my husband is also asleep during those times, tired sa pagbabantay sa 2 older kids namin. Mga 2 weeks niyang ginawa yun before my son was hospitalized of Nov. 2010 kung hindi siya nakita ng MIL ko na bagong uwi galing JP. I told her na 10am ang paligo sa bata kaso madaling araw pala niya pinaliliguan. Matigas ang ulo pala at pag gising ko papaliguan ko si baby ng 10am, hindi niya sinasabi na napaliguan na pala niya. Sinungaling.

Nung na-hospitalized si bunso, they found milk sa lungs niya napakarami, he had high fever and hirap siya huminga because of phlegm. Sobrang dami that every 6 hours, nurses would stick tubes inside his nose and mouth to suck the phlegm. Anjan yung lahat na ng ugat niya naturukan na for the IV and palipat-lipat ng tusok dahil pumuputok veins niya or biglang mamamaga yung arm or legs niya. Kaya I requested the doctor na tanggalin na yung IV niya dahil di na kakayanin ng anak ko. He turns blue pag nawawalan siya ng oxygen, bumababa yung oxygen level niya, ang daming complications pero thank God gumaling siya. More than a month kami sa hospital, pero nakinig si Lord sa akin. 

Kaya after that incident, I hired my first yaya back. Pinapunta ko siya dito from Aklan to take care of my youngest dahil siya lang super mapapagkatiwalaan ko. January 2012 bumalik na siya sa province and ever since then wala kaming yaya ng hubby ko. Siguro sa bahay na lang pero hindi na kami magtitiwala sa mga yaya to take care of our kids. Kung meron man, dapat nakasubaybay din kami at buong bahay naka-CCTV.

Thanks sis for sharing.. dami ko natutunan yung feeding hndi ko alam na dapat pala elevated yung head ni baby...first time mom and wala din naggguide how to take care... siguro kaya din minsan naglulungad si baby... madami pa din talaga ako dapat malaman.
Buti Sis dumating MIL mo at nalaman ninyo un kung hindi for sure until now nagsisinungaling si yaya... hmp... bad yaya..

God is really good... He saves our babies..

It's depends on the case. if low weight sya by birth usually naka-incubator sa pagkakaalam ko until 1500grams ang kaya dun..

Advised ko kayanin mo sya until full term.. mahirap ang pre-term madami dapat iconsider..

^Thanks sis, yun na nga lang ang iniisip ko. mas healthy si baby kung lalabas syang full term dahil developed na yung lahat  ng organs... minasan talaga naiiyak na kasi ako.. ewan ko ba naman kasi bakit sobrang complicated ko magbuntis... second pregnancy ko na. nung una, i had high BP... then naconfine na din ako nun for hypokalemia (low potassium) ngaun ok pa naman ang BP ko, and i think yung potassium is okay na (muntik na naman bumaba last month) muscle/joint pains na lang... and parang ang bigat ng pakiramdam lagi...

sis, mixed feeding po si baby bfeeding and pediasure, malakas narin sya kumain walang pili.  Nung wala pa syang one year old nasa 6kgs lang din sya sis. Today 1year old and 2months na sya 8.6kgs palang sya but she is healthy and makulit. Pedia said it is normal kasi di naman din kami malalaking parent.

naku sis  france0220325143 help yourself na maka deliver ng full term di madali ang magkaron ng premature. Drink more liquid sis and wag masyado mag pastress. Preemies are so fragile you feel helpless when seing her with all wires at her age, yung takot na magkaron sya ng sakit cause prone sila to bacteria sobrang little nila to take care nakakatakot. Yung anak ko when I had her kasya sya sa dibdib ko kasi my pedia believe in kangaroo care and I think yun ang nagpalakas sa kanya.  We do it every 6hrs in a day for 2 months. It's heart breaking for me cause this is my second pre-term baby and last na kasi nagpatali na talaga ako.

Hi sis, my youngest is premature but hindi siya naincubator since mukhang malakas daw ako kumain habang buntis ako, healthy si baby but he was put under photo therapy for 1 month kasi he has jaundice - kailangan pa siya painitan - parang ibon lang hehe.  Kaya it's a must also na healthy din talaga ang mommy and lahat ng kinakain natin.

Preemies have their special needs,  you need to spend more time with them and be observant if anything you seen na uncertain call your pedia. At syempre breastmilk is very good for your preemies it fights any infection. As a mommy you need to take care of yourself too, eat healthy and get more sleep as much as you can to produce more milk

here is the list of solid food my preemie take:

Oatmeal with mash fruits and steam vegies
(saging-latundan, camote, carrots, kalabasa, sayote, brocolli
boiled eggs
arrozcaldo, lugaw
steam rice with sinabawang gulay- tawag namin 5kinds of vegetables
 (okra, talong, sitaw, kalabasa at malunggay)
i make my own gelatin with fruit juice yun kasi gusto nya na dessert

Hi mga sis i gave birth last july 12 of last year. Baby is 32 weeks 4/7 days. She is about 1 1/2 months early from my due date which is sept 3.  born via emergency cs at the medical city. She stayed in the nicu for 2 weeks since she had feeding problems. Sobrang liit nya nun though her birthweight is 4 lbs 8 ounces.sobrang ingat din namin when she went home with us. Lahat as much as possible clean lahat. May mask kamiand all. Thank God she is doing well now. Sana mag tuloy-tuloy na. She is 6 months na ngayon though her real age mga 4 1/2 p lang talaga. We haven't introduced solids yet baka magkaron ng problem. By the way,allergic din baby ko with ordinary cow's milk that is why we are feeding her nutramigen. So expensive but for our daughter, keri lang.

hi mga sis, i just gave birth last feb2 with my baby Tylie. 33-34weeks lang sya. Nauna kasi yung panubigan kaya naemergency CS na ako. Naiwan sya sa hospital for 5days.incubator,phototherapy at antibiotic. She's just 2.2kg. May abo incompatility kaya nakaphototherapy sya nun, naninilaw kasi. Hirap maiwan si baby s nicu, lage ko sya naiisip. Medyo naninilaw padin sya, pero sunlight na lang ang therapy namin.

By the way, first time kokasi nagbreastfeed, gaano ba katagal dapat sya ifeed? Baka kasi nasosobrahan. Natakot ako nung may lumabas na milk sa ilong nya. Every 2-3hours ang feed ko, minsan tatagal ng 1hr sya magsuck. Tama ba yun?
