Arrived in sydney kanina, ang mga damit ko mga cotton lang kasi spring na nga ang alam ko tapos pag labas ko sa airport, ang lamiiiig. Tsk tsk. Lalo sa gabi. May ilan ilan pang naka boots at ilan na naka fur pa yung ibang jacket. Medyo dyahe kasi dahil baka oa sa porma pero kasi ang lamig talaga.

Ay masarap yung Pods Snickers! One of my hubby's best friends is from Sydney kaya lagi may uwi. In return naman he is asking him to bring Tanduay. Susko at may balak mag-inuman! No worries though hubby doesn't drink while on duty. At ako naman bilin ko mag uwi sya ng mga meat pies and steaks. 

By the way, the crew hotel is at Ibis World square. Dami daw kainan that area?

Hi, I work near that area. Yes marami kainan, it is close to Chinatown, Thainatown (Thai food), Koreantown and some Japanese and Taiwanese restaurants. Across the road from Ibis World Square is the World Square shopping centre. Lots of restaurants too (Miso for Tonkatsu, Din Tai Fung, etc.) and coffee shops. Big servings too so watch out for your diet. It is spring already but bring a coat or jacket. Wear a sweater too underneath.

Hubby just arrived in Sydney today. He just brought walking shorts and a sweater for walking around. Masarap daw mamasyal during the day kasi it's nice and cool but pag pagabi na medyo ngatog-lamig na nga daw.

@ataypool, thanks sis! Medyo kabisado na rin ni hubby yung area since he flies there regularly na. I'm hoping I can join him in one of his future flights there. Apply muna ako visa 

Hubby mentioned na there is a tram (?) or bus na libre daw that you can take to go around the area?

Free shuttle bus, route 555, the green bus, takes you around the city up to Circular Quay, on the way to the Opera House. Most of the time it is full and pag peak hours mahaba ang hintayan when it should be every 10 to 15 minutes. Nabasa ko kasi na mahina tuhod mo, if you want to take the buses na may bayad, mas convenient.

The tram or light rail is not for free, you can take it to the casino, Sydney Fish Markets, Darling Quarter and other inner city suburbs. Good options for eating at those places but beware of the seagulls sa Fish Markets aagawan ka ng pagkain. hehe.

^hehe okay pa naman tuhod ko sis. Pwede pa sa malayong lakaran. I just have a difficult time during long haul flights pag di ko ma-stretch yung legs ko. Good to know about the free shuttle and the paid option. Grabe lang daw talaga at ang mahal ng bilihin dyan! But hubby was saying it really is a beautiful city.

^yun lang, sobrang mahal talaga sis. coke in can nasa 120 pesos. pag kakain kami kahit sa simpleng chinese resto, 2 ulam, yangchow & 2 coke nasa 2,500. steak ang mura kaya don naman ako super enjoy

Yes Sydney is indeed expensive. Good thing sa Ibis World Square siya, walking distance lang sa Coles Supermarket. Bottled water is like gold sa tourist hotspots, some conveniece stores in Sydney will sell it for more than $3.50. Bili kayo sa Coles ng bottled water na mas mura, which you specially need sa Sydney pag mainit. Also to warn you na may mga restaurants around Chinatown (they are the ones na may staff sa door holding the menu) and Darling Quarter na tourist baits nga and mahal ang pagkain. Cheap options sa food courts,  Chinatown has 4 actually na masarap ang selections but don't expect the toilets to be clean with the 3 of them. Big servings too. hehe! Also try to eat sa pubs, good value for money, some offer $10 steaks, like Rocky said, steaks are cheap and really good. Maraming good options for food in Sydney, wala akong ma-recommend. All I can say is just try any of them. Sydney too has some of the best coffee, ramen, pho and laksa in the world, good for the cold weather.

Wear comfortable clothing and shoes as you will walk a lot.
Sunscreen with very high SPF, water, sunglasses and hat to protect yourself from heat stroke and wrinkles. 
Antihistamine for hayfever. High pollen count every springtime.
Bring an umbrella all the time just in case it rains but don't buy it from Sydney. It is so expensive here, the discount shops sell it for at least $8.
Public transport is expensive, especially the taxis.
Popular naman talaga Taronga Zoo, Darling Harbour, Opera House but go to the museums, like Australian Museum is walking distance from Hyde Park and Powerhouse malapit naman sa Darling Quarter. Art Gallery of NSW and St Marys Cathedral are worth a visit too.
If you get sick of Asian food in Sydney (it is everywhere!), you can try the kebabs (shawarma), McDonalds, Hungry Jacks, the cafes, pubs and the food courts. 7-11 has a good selection of food and $1 coffee, and they also have Krispy Kreme Bites, very addictive, try to avoid them. hehe!
Search for Sydney food blogs for suggestions. Lots of them however tend to feature the mid to high priced restaurants, for cheap Asian options, http://www.b-kyu.com . http://www.grabyourfork.blogspot.com is good too.
For the food experience, try Tetsuya's . I haven't been there kasi mahal kulang sa budget but will try it next year.
Iyan lang naisip ko, not sure kung lahat tama.

^Thanks sis! I haven't seen the application form pa kasi need to create an account for the online application pa. Pero I still can't get over na it takes a month to apply for a visa here   

I think it depends pa din sa kanila kase for my cousin naman, 3 working days lang nakuha na niya yung kaniya.

Hi Team Aussie!
Newbie here in this thread. My family (2 adults and 1 kid) is planning for a vacay on 2nd to 3rd week of dec basta before christmas. We are coming from singapore. Sa sobrang laki ng australia not sure where to begin and we got friends on different states. Kaya ba mga sis kung mag:
sg - brisbane or adelaide (drive gold coast) - melbourne - sydney - sg ?
gahol yata no kung 2 weeks? =) gusto pa nga ni hubby mag nz eh...sabi ko naman we just concentrate 1st in one country coz we won't appreciate it and gastos kung pagsamahin namin yung 2 countries =)

may nakagawa na ba dito ng itinerary na going to several states in aus? Pa share naman po.

ito route ko, 3 weeks ako don & chillax mode lang
manila-sydney-canberra-bairnsdale-melbourne-canberra-sydney-manila

kasi si hubby nasa canberra, then dad nya nasa bairnsdale kaya puro roadtrip kami. dati alam ko lang malaki yong AU pero di ko sukat akalain na sobrang laki pala nya. hehe! yong great ocean road di ko na napuntahan kasi malayo pa pala yon sa melbourne

Mentioned in my previous post na we're staying in Sydney lang pero parang I want to see the 12 Apostles and experience the Great Ocean Road tour kaso malayo from Sydney. But I saw flights (Jetstar) as low as $90/head RT ($45 each way). Depends siguro kung anong magiging final itinerary namen, kaladkarin namen kame ni hubby haha baka konting pilit lang go na kame.
