how do you store and maintain your cast iron pans? Hindi ba kinakalawang sa tropical countries?
Also, ok ba un green pan na line? We already have cast iron skillets (hindi pa nagagamit dito though..) but we are thinking of getting another skillet and some pots.

Thanks!

^Pag hindi coated yung cast iron pans like Le Creuset or Staub, you need to season it with oil then hang ang pag-store. That's why I don't have this type of cast iron pan dahil matrabaho for me at wala akong space to store it na naka-hang lang.

I am using Le Creuset and Green Pan. Ok sila pareho :)

I've long been interested in getting a cast-iron skillet, among others in my wishlist (Le Creuset, carbon steel wok, etc)

@Heatherette, why would you need to hang the cast iron pan? I do know you have to wipe it down right after washing (no soap) and re-season as needed to prevent rust, but what hanging it up?

^The staff from Gourdo's mentioned the need to hang it. I don't really know the reason behind it din lol

Mangangamoy kasi yung oil pag store mo sya sa close na space or kung ipapatong mo sya mag stain naman yung oil.

I didn't know that you need to hang it when storing. Ang nakwento kasi sakin ng mga officemates ko, pinagpapatong patong lang nila un kanila. E un gamit nila mga minana pa nila sa lola nila. And hindi pa uso nun un seasoned pans...

^sis i love cuisinart! my first and only pan is actually overused. di ko na ginagamit iyong mga non-stick pan ko kasi kapag cuisinart ang gamit ko hindi dumidikit ang eggs or fish prito. i think it's because it can retain heat so well.

Ano kaya yun? I want to return it pero natapon na yung box..

We're using Green Pan. They have pans specific for meat, poultry and vegetables. Di na kami masyado naglalagay ng oil and mabilis hugasan, it doesn't stick.

YUng PN ceramic pans na binili ko from O shopping, se demo nila di talaga nagagasgas no matter what they use, pero pagdating sa amin, as in first gamit pa lang, nagasgas agad. waaaah! planning to buy stainless muna from tramontina, isa isa muna siguro, medyo mabigat din sa bulsa :(

Subscribing to this thread.  I have Lodge (which I love soooo much), Crock Pot Dutch oven (got it from S&R at 2K), and Tefal non stick skillet pans. Would like to invest in some more dutch oven and cast iron since they will last long, yung tipong pwede ipaman sa mga anak.

Le creuset is pang lifetime talaga. If you are into cooking, you should invest in this kind of pots. Never ko sya pinagamit sa katulong since I am the one cooking for the family. Yung simpleng prito prito naman, I recomend Excalibur from O shopping. Wala na yata sila ngayon, pero more than a year na yung sakin, hindi pa din dumidikit ang itlog, unlike the tefal brand i bought from SM.

cast iron pans are making their way back to kitchens nowadays. If you season them then store, molds would build up or even stored it without season them, rust will. I think they are better than newer pans as same price range.
