HELP! Tips on how to buy baby's/kid's clothes and other stuff

Mga sis, I'm due Feb pa naman. Pero lately kasi, napansin ko lang, I've been buying mga small clothes fo the little cupcake. The largest I have in my stash is 9-12 mos clothes. Nabasa ko sa net, if baby is 9 mos, sometimes she wears 18mos clothing na.  For real? Ang hirap mamili lalo kung first time mom.  Yung mama ko, binilhan na ako ng mga bigger sizes onesies.. How FAST can they grow ba talaga? I've seen babies, alright. Pero see how they grow, no idea talaga..

They grow up fast but it's hard to compare the rate of growth cus it varies from one child to another.

To be on the safe side, dont buy too many clothes muna. Observe your child as the time goes on. Madale lang naman bumili ng stuff eh.

Babies develop/grow fast in their first 6 mos. So, in my case, i bought only a few clothes for newborn because i know my baby will be using it only up to 2 mos. (which is exactly true). When my baby was around 4 to 5 months, I buy her clothes good for 6-12 mos. size. They are not that very loose or too big for her naman.

As for mittens, my baby stopped wearing them at 3 mos. old. So no need to buy a lot of those.
Just make sure to wash baby's clothes daily because newborn babies tend to wet their clothes with milk often thus leading to changing of clothes.

I also had no idea how to buy when i was pregnant. I listened to people around me and most of them said not to buy so many newborn or 0-3m size because nga babies grow fast. My baby was born 5lbs only pati nb size ng carters onesies malaki sa kanya. So dapat di ako naniwala sa kanilang lahat kasi walang masuot ang anak ko na hindi off shoulder. Hehe.

Based on your pre-natal check up, they estimate the height/weight of the baby. Use these as a guide when buying as it is more reliable than the age-based size. For example, look at mothercare's size chart:

Yung sample mong baby na 9m wearing 18m size is such a big baby! And not all babies are born big naman din.

Thanks mga sis! Nag wo-worry lang ako as I might be spending money on things she won't be able to use a lot. Hubby said kasi to not rely on those things we might get from binyag and other presents from the relatives. So tama lang pala yung mga nabili ko. I have newborn sizes upto 9 mos clothing.. Pasensya na mga sis ha? Hindi ako mahilig sa shopping kasi as a person. Whatever I need, I buy. Not whatever I WANT. So shopping per se is really an effort for me.

^ Yun nga din iniisip ko sis eh.. Kasi mukha namang kawawa si baby kung yung damit nya, ang laki sa kanya. Mas lalamigin sya kung hindi fit yung damit. Mukha pang nanghiram kasi maluwag.. Ang hirap mamili. Effort talaga sis.. lalo kung andaming choices both sa internet at sa mall. I kept thinking, "kelangan nya ba talaga to lahat??" Haha! Ngayon lang ako nag shopping ng sunod sunod. Nalulula ako sa totoo lang...

dapat wait mo muna lumabas si baby bago ka mamili ng clothing para alam mo if mabilis ba sha tumaba or lumaki. anyway, kung pang bahay lang naman like onesies ok na may stock ka hanggang 12 mos. kase alam mo naman di masasayang yun. pero pag mga panglakad na damit dapat masukat mo yun sa kanya.
my baby was born 8.11 so hinde kasya sa kanya mga pang 0-3 months. taoos ang newborn diaper nya one week lang nagamit nag switch na agad ako sa 1 pinamigay ko lang mga damit at diapers sayang lang. pero ok lang din kase baby shower gifts yun samin.

My baby was born 6.4 lbs and the nb mothercare sleepsuits were swimming on her! It wasn't something i bought pa, it was a gift. I only bought 0-3 and 3-6 month sizing due to reading GT. I felt bad for my baby, her going home outfit was swimming on her rin.

It really depends on your baby, my daughter wore her 0-3 month sleepsuits til she was 6 months, but she is a "petite" baby. A total surprise since hubby and i are both tall.

Proper sizing is important to keep your nb warm. Plus it's not sayang if it serves its purpose right? Do buy a few nb pieces, you can always use for the next baby or hand down to siblings/relatives.

Thanks sisses! Yan na nga lang din ang iniisip ko. Na pwede ko syang i-hand down since 2 SILs got married recently. My mother have wrapped christmas gifts for my baby na agad kahit hindi pa sya lalabas til next year. Nasa ilalim na ng christmas tree nya. I wonder kung ano pa ang laman nun bukod sa mga nakita kong pinamili na nya din.

When you gave birth ba mga sis, how often did you have to go to the mall to buy additional stuff? And what are those additional stuff? Or pinabili nyo na lang sa hubbies nyo? Hindi ko kasi maaasahan sa shopping tong asawa ko eh. Not his cup of tea as well, so sakin talaga lahat ang bagsak.

If you'll be purchasing, buy the one that's pure cotton. Pag hand-me-down from a person na hindi mo masyado kakilala, make sure to disinfect

^ ang malas ko nga sis eh.. Kasi walang sinundan yung anak ko na pinsan na pwedeng magbigay ng hand-me-downs (and I don't know if that's malas, magastos. maybe. ). So lahat bago. Sabi pa naman ng mama ko, kelangan daw luma ang ipapasuot sa newborn para hindi brand-conscious pag laki. Old wives tale.  I bought in SM yung mga tie-sides and newborn pajamas. Natural cotton made in the Philippines by New Baby. Nice material. I think yun yung pure cotton na sinasabi mo? Tagal kong nagtanong sa mga SAs eh. Mas ok daw yung New Baby brand accdg sa training nila from SM.

^ hello baby sa bel air pala yung nasa link. I bought some stuff from there also but we didnt get to use them as much compared to mothercare and carters stuff. Yung iba kasi from hello baby medyo weird like ang lapad pero ang ikli. Or maybe it was just a matter of preference na din.

^^ nung ako sis, when i went to the mall to go shopping fter i gave birth, it wasnt to buy necessities anymore but more of buy new clothes or new shoes. We bought all we needed to buy before i gave birth - big items like stroller and playard and carseat locally, the others like feeding bottles and breast pump etc from the US. Pero kasi, i got obsessed with my list and with the item prices and with item reviews. I checked the malls for prices of what i thought i needed then compared them to prices online in the US. We opted to buy from the US so i really needed to ake i got everything i needed to maximize the box. Since di ka mahilig mag shopping talaga like you said, it coud be a totally different experience for you.

^ Naku sis, kung alam mo lang ang mga pagpipigil ko. Parang I always think, "uy, ang cute nun ah.. bili kaya ako?" Tapos after 3 minutes, kuripot mode na naman.. "nah.. Wag na lang..." Ang hirap...  I also compare prices from the mall vs US items and yes, ang laki ng difference. At dyan sumasakit ulo ko. Kasi dati, I only know yung mall prices. I always buy my stuff (no frills) sa mall. End of discussion. Now, I have so many options. Mas sumakit ulo ko!
