^sis kami by Bus (Mekong Express), booked sa Bou Savy Guesthouse dun na din kami sinundo.

^^kami din nag bus from SR to HCM. bumili kami ng ticket dun sa ticket office ng Mekong Express bus. nagpadaan lang kami dun after namin magtour sa Angkor. tapos sinundo din kami sa accommodation namin (Thunborey hotel).

mahabang byahe yun sis ha. mga 12-14hrs. tapos sa kalagitnaan kelangan magtransfer sa ibang bus. sakit sa katawan. hehe.

@shiecg - you can also stay one night at Phnom Penh to cut your travel if you still have time. I highly recommend Giant Ibis (PP-SR-PP) route. Mas bago at comfy yun buses nila as compared with Mekong. However, traveling back to HCMC, your best option na talaga will be Mekong Express. Dont forget to bring earphones! Khmer songs parang isang tono lang lahat ng kanta.. Lahat masaya

thanks mga sisses...i booked na direct flight to HCM, kasi naka tour na rin kami ng mga friends ko sa SR 2 years ago, kaya stay nalang kami sa HCM this time. pero thanks much sa mga recommendations nyo. Hotel nalang sa HCM ang kailangan ko, help ulit :-)

We've always stayed in AnAn2 hotel at De Tham street in District1. We go here every year for business and stay  around 2 weeks so we got our room for only $21 per day- 2 single beds, good aircon, ref, vault, desk/mirror. Regular rate would be around $28 I think. Small room but comfy and with well supplied toiletries- shampoo, bath gel, soap, comb, toothbrush, cotton buds. Outside the hotel are several choices of restaurants with affordable prices, many taxi, dollar exchange shops, convenience stores. One can have a long walk to Ben thanh market and Saigon square shopping also. ill fill you in on the restaurants and prices if you like

^kami we stayed at Ngoc Minh Hotel, $20 per night for 2 pax na yun.
Sa Nguyen Khang Hotel talaga kami naka book nun, kaya lang sabi sira daw yung AC nung room, kaya nitransfer kami sa Ngoc Minh Hotel dun lang din yun, magkakalapit lang.

Okay naman sa Ngoc Minh Hotel, may free breakfast, malinis yung room and mabait din yung staffs nila, dun na din kami nagbook ng Cu Chi Tunnel Tour for $6.

if you're staying near or at de tham street in district 1, here are the restos to try-- mon hue (most meals bet 43000-70000 dong), soya milk/coffee is free in the mornings; sasa cafe (average check 31000-80000, friendly staff who can understand english); wrap n roll (a bit higher than mon hue but its a good place to try the different spring rolls of vietnam); sam kang (vietnamese fastfood, average price is only 15000-50000), must try for the boneless chicken (i prefer it well done) and the saigon samkang banh mi.

And also, can anyone recommend a good Halong Bay cruise? Mas madami kasi dito reviews on HCM

Highlands coffee, it's all over the place. It's also nice to try iced coffee on the streets or at the Vietnamese fast food brand Sam Kang

^kami sis ni hubby last year we stayed at city hotel sa may luu van lang st. as far as i know 2 or 3 ang branches nila tapat lang ng ben than market malapit na rin sa saigon square....

^malinis naman, strong wifi, free breakfast at mababait ang staff. kinabahan lang ako pagdating namin sa place kasi nakasarado halos lahat ng bldg. hindi ko alam kung saan yung hotel. via cebupac kasi kami so mga past 1am na kami nakarating, good thing yung taxi driver alam naman kaya mismong tapat kami ibinaba at nag note naman ako sa voucher namin ng agoda na late arrival, pinabusinahan nalang namin sa taxi driver. kinabukasan ko nalaman tabi pala ng pinagbibilihan namin ng mga TNF jackets before yung hotel. yung pinaka lobby tindahan parang boutique style, kasi hilera yun ng tindahan ng mga TNF jackets, nike shoes at kung ano-ano pa. sa le thanh ton st. open 24hrs dun ako malimit mag book ng hotel

Sis malapit na rin naman yan. Tsaka kung marami kayong bibilhin sa saigon like pang negosyo dito sa atin pwede mo naman ipahatid sa hotel free of charge. Basta ingat lang sa customs ng vietnam ha grabe red tape ngayon dun. Na try ko ng hotel thien xuan hotel, a & em at yang city hotel 35

Just came from vietnam. di ko feel ang ho chi minh, parang manila din. Go to hanoi siguro or dun sa sinasabi nung nameet namin sa cambodia na pinoy pero nagwwork sa vietnam, Da Nang. Goal daw ng place na yun ay maging next Singapore. Usually taga US or Europe lang daw ang mga tourists. At kapag sinabi mo raw na dun ka papaunta, parang "wow, sosyal" daw ang tingin sayo ng mga nasa ho chi minh. May cable car daw na may madadaanang falls. Then may sinasabi pa syang Ba Na Hills. Sinearch ko, ang ganda din, castle castle ang peg. hehe

Anyone na nakapunta na dito? How was it?
