wrong timing yata ang punta namin. nagbook ako ng flight not knowing na tet holiday pala yung sa vietnam. tsk! double to triple ang price ng mga tours. anyone who'll be there on tet holidays too?

Is it safe to travel alone in Vietnam? Plan ko sana last week of Jan.

^ From my own experience, safe naman sis sa Vietnam for solo female. Around 10pm nasa labas pa ako walking along their streets, ok naman. There are are also officers na nakatambay to help/assist tourists.

Hi mga sis, may naka try na ba sa inyo mag HCM then side trip to Halong Bay (1 day)?

I've read na you have to travel to Hanoi (by train [ubos oras] or plane [2hrs]) for the Halong Bay tour. May Halong Bay Tour na 1 day only though 2D/1N is better (well for the sake na makita ang isa sa new wonders of the world) Actually 3D2N lang kami - MNL-HCM-MNL.

High-level ng itinerary (not really sure kung doable ito baka lawit dila na kami sa hectic ng sched  ) feel free to comment:

Day 1: Cu Chi Tunnel Half Day Tour/City Tour/Fly to Hanoi in the evening c/o Vietnam airlines
Day 2: To be picked up in Hanoi Hotel for the Halong Bay Day Tour c/o Sinh Travel yata yun/Fly back to HCM in the evening
Day 3: Mekong Delta Tour Half Day/Shopping at Benh Thanh Market or nearby shops/ Be at the airport around 10PM for the 1AM (next day) flight to MNL

Sharing my ITi last Jan 31-Feb 2 visit in HCM

Day 1 Friday - City Tour - Morning - Reunification hall, then lunch near city hall then  afternoon, city hall, opera house, cathedral, snacks near the cathedral. (went back to hotel around 7 as we need to be up early the enxt day for cu chi tour)

Day 2 - Cu chi tour paid 12usd plus 90k vnd ... half day tour,, picked up at hotel by 8 then return at 2pm. had lunch at kfc , then went to war remnants musuem , it closes at 5 pm, near the museum theres coffee shop, we stayed until 630 then went to benh tanh.. benthan shopping then dinner at pho24, pho2000 closed since tet holiday nila ito.. tambay sa kalye ng benthan until 11mn, nawili kami kasi daming sasakyan at sa nearby park ay may show..

Day 3 Mass at cathedral, went back again to city hall kasi di nakasama parents ko nun day 1, then went back to hotel to take a nap kasi gabi ang flight back to manila.. just had dinenr nerarby then leave teh hotel by 8 pm and proceed to airport... 1am flight so nagubos na lang kami ng oras sa airport...

we stayed at sen hotel, i will try to create a blog so u can see some pohotos... i recommend this one, good hotel and cheap... imagine 1500 for 2 rooms...

overall expenses including fares, accom, shopping is 23,000php for 4 people.. =)

Naka-book na kami mag fly-la-loo sa HCM this October, and I have 3 questions:

1. Visa Requirements
2. October Weather
3. Suggested Itinerary for 3d/2n

super amazing race ang IT mo. it takes about 2-3 hours by bus  from HCMC to Halong. Doable naman yung IT mo sa day 1 but depends kung anong oras ang flight mo sa gabi. And just hope na walang aberya ang bus pabalik sa HCMC. IMO, it is best to experience Halong by spending overnight there sa junk. What you see in Halong Bay is the same lang sa Palawan. Although meron silang side trips na mag kayaking at visit sa isang tunnel dun.

It is also worth touring HCMC. I like HCMC better than Saigon kasi mas cultural ang HCMC. Visit the Old quarters and experience yung inuman nila sa kalye, it is an organized chaos. I biked the whole city for one whole day. It was so much fun.

^sis, HCMC (Ho Chi Minh City) is same as Saigon. I think you're referring to Hanoi.

sis marbleslice, i suggest not to pursue the Halong Bay tour nalang. Sobrang gipit yan sa oras.

Sis i_v_y and honeyblue, thanks for your comments. Oo nga e and nabasa ko may mga caves na pupuntahan during Halong Bay tour. So siguro magfocus na lang muna kami sa HCM (Saigon) para lalo namin maappreciate yung place ng hindi nagmamadali.

Late ko na lang kasi nabasa yung Halong Bay kaya bigla ko naisip isingit 

Meron ba sa inyo nakapunta sa Water Puppet Show?  sa HCM ito, iniisip ko kung worth it kaya since kakaiba ang concept (water puppet).

^saw the water puppet show when we went to hcmc. ok lang naman sya if you have extra time. it's only for experience. nothing spectacular and may possibility na ma-bore ka. =)

sis honeyblue, thanks. oo nga Hanoi pala is what I meant. Nalito kasi ako sa post na HCMC side trip to Halong. Ang layo. hehe.

kiityccat228 mall shops like diamond plaza have same prices for branded clothes like we have. They have these labels at Saigon square stalls  near Pasteur st too but I don't know much to check whether these are genuine or not. The fabrics are very good though.

Hi sisses, could you suggest an iti for Hanoi? I'll be going in December pa naman. Pictures palang inlove na ako sa Halong Bay.
