Easy Sweet and Sour Pork
http://www.yummy.ph/recipe/easy-sweet-and-sour-pork

Here's a very easy, homemade take on this oriental staple.

Serves 4
Prep Time 5 minutes,  plus 10 minutes marinating time
Cooking Time 15 minutes

1/2 kilo pork tenderloin, cut into 1 1/2-inch cubes
2 tablespoons liquid seasoning
1 cup cornstarch
oil for deep-frying, plus extra for sautéing
2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
2 medium red bell peppers, sliced into 1 1/2-inch squares
1/2 cup tomato ketchup
1 1/2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon butter
steamed rice, to serve

1  Marinate pork in liquid seasoning for at least 10 minutes. Gently wipe off excess marinade with paper towels, then dredge in cornstarch. Deep-fry and drain excess oil on paper towels. Set aside.

2  Sauté garlic in oil. Add bell peppers.

3  Add ketchup, honey, and butter. Simmer until butter is melted and well combined.

4  Add fried pork. Mix well and place on top of steamed rice.

whenever i make beef nilaga i usually boil* a big batch of beef para tipid sa lpg. Half of this goes into beef nilaga and the other half, i would set aside** and freeze and would use it for dishes like this. this is one of my lolo's sunday recipes. i tweaked it a bit to suit my kids' tastes:

beef in creamy mushroom soup

beef cubes, boiled until tender (i usually use bone in shank*** cause my daughter likes the bone marrow)
knorr cream of mushroom soup**** (dissolved in a little water)
potatoes, medium-sized cubes
carrots, medium-sized cubes
canned sliced mushrooms, drained
bell pepper, cut into squares

1) once the beef is tender, add the knorr cream of mushroom soup. (note: if the beef came from the freezer, make sure the beef and soup are hot before adding the cream of mushroom soup)

2) add mushrooms, potatoes and carrots. (note: you can also add other veggies like baguio beans, broccoli, etc...the softer vegetables should only be added once the potatoes and carrots are tender)

3) season with salt or patis. or you may add a dash of toyo to give the sabaw a gravy-like color.

4) add bell pepper

*when boiling, I add a whole white onion, dahon ng laurel, whole peppercorns and salt.
**make sure to set aside enough soup/sabaw
*** if using shank with bone marrow, do not overboil the bones or lose the precious marrow inside. I only add the bones once the potatoes and carrots are tender.
****i tried using the condensed soup type (campbell's, jolly, etc) but the taste is not the same as my lolo's version.

My sister is a culinary arts students and she has a lot of cook books on her shelf. On her birthday i gave her a cook book i ordered online, https://www.goods.ph/the-filipino-family-cookbook-recipes-and-stories-from-our-home-kitchen-16802.html

It's a compilation of Filipino meals and I think the recipes are too easy to follow. Though most of the recipes are for seafood meals.

Ginataang Tinapa with Malunggay

Ingredients :

Garlic
Tinapa
Malunggay
Gata
Asin
Paminta

Procedure:

1. Iprito yun tinapa at iset aside.
2. Pakuluan ang gata with bawang hanggang sa lumapot.
3. Kapag ok na yung gata, ihalo na yun tinapa. Pakuluan sa mahinang apoy, 5-10 mins.

Sharing recipe:
Rosemary and thyme chicken (parang yun sa Kenny Rogers)

Ingredients:
Chicken breast fillet
Rosemary (dried)
Thyme (dried)
Crushed garlic
Pepper
Salt
Olive Oil

Marinate everything overnight. Baliktarin from time to time hanggang maluto yun chicken.

sis pinakuluan mo ba yung chicken or inihaw? wala pa kasi kaming oven. interested ako dito. TY:)

Kinamatisang Labahita (dried Fish - tuyo)

Takaw kanin to...promis! :)

Ingredients :
Oil
Garlic (minced)
Tuyo (I use labahita)
Lots of Kamatis (ripe)
Taba ng baboy (optional)

Procedure:
Fry the labahita tuyo. You can make it crispy depending on your preference. Once cooked, debone and set aside.

Put oil in pan. Add garlic. Add taba ng baboy (cut into small cubes). Once malambot na ang baboy, you can then add the red tomatoes. Then add the labahita.

Salted Egg Shrimps

-1/2 big shrimps, alisin na yung veins and balatan but retain yung head and yung dulong part
-pepper, magic sarap, sugar and salt to taste
-6 red egg yolks only, mashed (sayang yung white part tinapon ko lang huhu)
-1 cup evap milk
-5 pcs siling labuyo, minced
-onions, diced finely
-garlic-minced
-butter mga 1/4 lang ng 1 block

1. Saute onion then garlic sa butter.

2. Add yung shrimps.

4. Then add yung sugar, pepper and salt to taste.

5. Pag medyo nagreduce na yung liquid and medyo nag thicken na yung consistency, add mo na yung chili. Pakuluin ulit until mabawasan pa yung sauce.Yung number of chili depends kung gaano mo sya gusto kaanghang.

6. Serve with steamed rice :) Sarap :)

Wala ako oven but we had a lot of ripe bananas one time. Found a recipe online for banana bread and I tried it and it was great. Made it 3x now.

you'll need ripe bananas, milk (or just water), egg ( eggless is fine too), flour, baking powder, baking soda, butter (or dari cream), salt. You can add nuts. I've also tried adding dessicated coconut.

after mixing everything, pour in the ricecooker pot lined with parchment paper (foil worked too) greased with butter or oil. two to three cycles of cook/keep warm, it's done around 45m.
