@gypske - isn't it against the law to grab someone's bag ang inspect it themselves? Even the police needs a search warrant, right? or kung gusto nila iinspect, yung person in question mismo ang dapat magbukas ng bag niya at mag-empty ng contents nun while they watch. Pwede pa nga tumanggi yung person in question na ipainspect yung gamit niya unless a formal complaint was filed para i-search siya. Di pwede pakiaalaman ng ibang tao yun kasi personal stuff niya yun. (I don't know if this is right, siguro yung mga sis natin na lawyer jan ang mas makakapag-explain at mag-verify nito).

may isang beses na i was staying at a hotel in makati for an event and naka-shorts lang ako kasi i don't want to wear my "event clothes" for malling. i wasn't expecting to go malling kaya lang nagkaron ng fashion emergency that required my friend to go buy something. sinamahan ko eh napa-impulse buy ako since matagal na akong di nagawi sa greenbelt area. walang pumansin sa akin sa isang store in greenbelt tapos nung magbabayad na ako, biglang parang may nag-ha-hover nang SA. i made sure to tell the cashier and the manager in a voice loud enough to be heard by the hovering SA (in perfect English of course) that no one assisted me and that no one should get any commission or credit from the sale.

I really don't like window shopping kaya I don't really enter high-end stores. Pang mid-range brands lang talaga or when it comes to skincare and makeup brands. Personally, I don't mind pag hindi ako inaasikaso ng SA's. I usually do tons of research on the products that I'll be purchasing naman kasi and I prefer checking them out on my own, and when I need assistance, they're accommodating naman.

Although wala pa naman akong nightmarish encounter with an SA sa medyo upper-class na store, yung mga nagpapainit ng ulo ko are the people in local supermarkets and lower-end establishments, super nakakaimbyerna.

I actually report sloppy and unprofessional wokrers na ganito... and yes, with no sign of remorse despite the knowledge that they don't earn enough. Why? because I am a good customer! Walang ere ere, I smile at them, talk to them politely, if bellboy/waiter/bag handler and the like I give generous tips and address them by their names (if may name tag) Thus, as a paying customer na courteous in every possible way, I want the same level of respect.

Pag ganito na ang scenario I usually do 2 things:
1) If malaking company/corporation ito, I take note of the employee's name and report to their superiors.
2) If private owned business, I might call the attention of the manager or simply stop going.  >:(

There was a time we went to this Perfume Shop. my husband is looking for perfume supposed Christmas gift for parents and in-laws, this Syrian lady assisted us all throughout, nakabili si hubby ng perfume worth 45K, for me, for hubby, for father in law at sa tatay ko, we receive free evening clutch, free Lacoste canvass tote and we won 15k worth Lacoste gift card! so parang 30K lang nagastos ni hubby for those perfumes. So nice! galling mag salestalk ni SA  8)

this is happen 2 years ago sa camera house naka short lang kami ni bf when we enter no one assist us yung isang guy na pinagtanungan namin regarding sa camera eh ang tipid sumagot tapos yung attention nya dun lang sa foreigner na ang tagal tagal tumingin ng mga SLR so buti nalang may lumapit na may edad na salesperson dun in fairness mabait sya at inassist kami lahat ng tanong sinasagot nya tapos nung titignan namin yung camera syempre bubuksan lang nila yun kung bibili ka sabi nung girl "pag bibilhin po dun lang bubuksan yung item". so sumagot ako agad "bibilhin namin yan".

Tapos dalidali nya binuksan yung cabinet, then yung other guy na tipid pumansin sa amin di naman bumili yung foreigner sa kanya.  at sa lahat ng pumasok dun kami lang naman bumili and hindi naman mura yung camera na binili namin, so sayang commision na sana ng isa yung kung inassist kami hehe..

So far never pa naman.

Pag feeling ko nababastos ako or walang respeto.

Whenever it happens to me, binibilangan ko ang sales person ng 3 strike haha pag naka 3 na tsaka ko binibitawan ang mga litanya ko na sisimulan ko sa
"Masaya ka ba sa trabaho mo? Dba  part ng trabaho mo is to be nice to people, especially to a paying costumer?"

I get annoyed with guards/bantay wearing casual clothes. Usually guys sila, they go around the store pretending to be a customer din yata pero obviously they are checking on other people. I hate it when someone follows me around, minsan na-ooffend ako kasi feeling ko mukha ba ko magnanakaw, lol.  ;D

This also happened to me. My sis and I wanted to buy Lacoste shirts. When we were browsing on the shirts, the SA approached us and asked if we were looking for 'ON SALE' items. Then we replied 'no' then deadma to her. As in she asked us again thinking that maybe we did not understand what she was saying. Grabe, just because naka-short &, flipflops lang kami doesn't mean that we cannot afford to buy regular Lacoste items. Feeling insulted, we left the store na lang.

never pa naman sa mga lux establishments.  plus it helps that i don't put myself in that situation by avoiding those places if i can.  few times that i've gone inside the shops at rodeo drive,  the SAs have been accommodating and friendly, so no complaints there.
the only instance that i've experienced rudeness is from a supermarket cashier of all places!  he didn't say anything naman,  i just felt that he wasn't a nice person.

I've experienced discrimination at stores several times na, though I wouldn't call these luxury boutiques.  Simple lang ako manamit, most of the time naka-jeans and ordinary shirt ako and sneakers, no jewelry and simpleng bag lang.  Nakakairita yung ugali ng ilang retail employees na nangmamata por que hindi lang naka-todo postura and makeup and alahas yung customer, kung tratuhin nila e as if invisible ka, or worse e somebody that they need to get rid of.

One of the places on the list is Rustan's. A few years ago I was looking to buy a non-stick iron and a sturdy ironing board, so I went to check out the Tefal irons with the ceramic base and whatever options other brands had sa Makati branch.  I noticed out of the corner of my eye a security guy that spoke with a guy na naka-civilian clothes, akala ko wala lang.  But napansin ko na the guy in street clothes e sunod ng sunod sa akin nung umiikot ako ng store, turns out he's a plainclothes security guard.  Nainis ako sobra, instead of asking me first if I needed assistance e pinasundan na ako kaagad sa security guard nila.  Simple lang ang suot ko nun pero in good condition, hindi rags ang suot ko, malinis naman ako and hindi gusgusin.  I got so pissed off, magnanakaw agad ang treatment sa akin.  And hello?!  Paano ko naman ipupuslit yung plantsa out of there e hindi naman yun magkakasya sa tiny bag na dala ko and hindi ko naman matatago yan sa clothes ko.  On my way there I was considering buying some stuff for the kitchen din like baking pans to give as a gift for a friend, pero sa sobrang inis ko e umalis ako dun ng walang binibili.  I went and bought the stuff sa Abensons and SM na lang.

Another instance was when I was looking at bags.  May guard na sunod din ng sunod.  Nairita talaga ako, to think na hindi maganda yung mga naka-display and ang konti ng selections nila (Rustan's Gateway to), mas marami pang better options at other boutiques and even online.

Then there was the time when I was looking for a dress.  A security guard kept hovering a few feet away, staying in the background.  Nakakaasar, after I paid for the dress gusto ko siyang lapitan and sabihan na "Happy now?  Or di ka pa rin ba convinced and are you still going to follow me around?!"  Nakaka-offend e.   Walang lumapit na SA to offer assistance even though I clearly needed their help, ako pa ang lumapit sa kanila.  Pero ang bilis ng security guard nila na i-judge ako as a shoplifter and tail me.  I felt like taping the receipt to his face talaga.

Then there was the last time I stopped by the Shu Uemura counter sa Rustan's Makati.  Ang antipatika ng SA dun, I don't know his name, some gay guy.  I've bought makeup there before and mabait yung SAs na nag-assist sa akin before, but I don't know if they don't work there anymore or baka it's their day off kaya natapat ako sa masungit na SA na yun.  Kita mo na yamot siyang i-assist ako and answer my questions.  I was smiling at him and trying to be pleasant pero ang frosty pa rin niya and he kept acting like he wanted me to just buy stuff without asking any questions.  Bibili na dapat ako nun pero naasar ako sa treatment niya sa akin, so I went to a different department store and bought Shiseido instead.  Ang dami ko pa naman binili, if the Shu Uemura SA had been nicer to me he would've gotten the big commission sana.

I used to love going there when I was a kid, I remember shopping with my parents for all sorts of stuff--clothes and pillows and sheets and appliances and glassware and perfume, I remember how comfortable it was to shop inside their store and how nice the staff were, how awesome it was that they had the stuff that wasn't available at SM or Robinsons.  Those nice childhood memories are the reason why I kept coming back to the store when I was an adult na and earning my own money.  I kept buying makeup there even though it would've been more convenient to buy makeup at SM or Landmark, and whenever I needed something like a dress or stuff for the house they would always be on my list of places to check out.  But na-turn off ako sa treatment nila sa akin lately, ang snooty and offensive.  Kaya ngayon tinatamad ako pumunta dun.  Mas mabuti pang pumunta sa crowded stores or bumili online instead of being treated that way again.

^ naku sis oo nga kahit yang mga hindi naman sobrang luxe stores like yung home essentials or cosmetics most of the time talaga they will follow you pero di para mag assist. It may be an order to them or job requirement talaga pero nakaka offend talaga. Haha!

Yikes. I haven't experienced a guard dressed as a civilian following me around at Rustan's even in Gateway but I experienced snotty SAs who act as if they own the place. Pero hindi lang sa Rustan's. Minsan mas malala pa sa smaller malls and boutiques which is precisely the reason why I like Rustan's better than any other malls here in the country. Sorry you had to experience that because like you, I have good shopping memories when I was a kid.

I don't go inside high-end stores that much, but on the rare occasion that I do, accommodating and friendly naman yung mga SA na nakaka-interact ko. While wandering around the Shoppes at MBS recently, medyo nahiya pa nga ako kasi wala naman talaga ako bibilhin haha, but they were nice and professional. Ayoko rin yung nagho-hover at salita ng salita while I look around.

My friends and I did experience some discrimination last year...at a fruit stand in el nido! One of us wanted to buy something but was given some lame excuse that it wasn't for sale. After a few minutes, this european walked up and was able to buy the same item, this time with no comment whatsoever from the tindero. Wow. Wanted to confront to him right then and there, but we're on vacation and I didn't want to ruin the mood. Medyo masama kasi ako magalit, I admit. Kasi di ba, anong reason? (I will be back in el nido next week and will be taking down the name of that establishment, kasi lagi tinatanong sa akin, kaya lang nakalimutan ko i-note, LOL.)

No, not yet.. Pero sa mom ko yes.. Mommy ko kasi, simple lang talaga tingnan unlike me 😄 im the maarte and mukhang mayaman in the family eh.. Hehe Tapos mom ko naghirap pa sa buhay one time so it really took a toll on her white skin..ngayon brown skin na sya and nasira na sa kakabilad sa araw...so one time,  bakasyon ako sa pinas.. I took her shopping.. Sya muna nauna sa store  I had to go to the toilet.. Aba pagpunta ko, nobody was assisting her, lahat ng SA don were ignoring her lang... I asked my mom kung nakapili na sya.. Sabi nya, She asked for a size pero di daw sya pinapansin nong SA... Tapos pagkakita sa akin.. Sa akin sunod ng sunod asking me if I needed any help.. Aba sabi ko, im with my mom tapos I told my mom sa harap nila na take anything you want mommy, malaki naman allowance mo ngayon.. Ayun, assist na nila mommy ko.. Kainis lang!
Dito kasi sa pinas, kung dika naka porma or mukhang can afford eh  kala nila, wala kang pera. Hmmmp...
