@metasassy, how did you feed the baby with formula?  Through a bottle ba?  If so, it is a classic case of nipple confusion.  Your baby is crying because she has been used to the faster flow of the artificial teat/nipple and could not wait for your letdown.  Then, because she could not properly suckle, there is not enough stimulation for your brain to signal the milk-producing hormones to start production of milk.

First thing to do - ditch the bottle, ditch the formula.  Re-train your baby to latch.  It is challenging but not impossible.  If there is a will, there is a way. :)

Here's a link on relactation:  http://www.ennonline.net/pool/files/ife/who-chs-cah-98-14-relactation-document.pdf

The BEST way to stimulate the breasts to produce milk is not through the consumption of malunggay caps and other galactagogues or pumping (though it could help somehow) but rather, through the suckling motion (make sure it is correct) of the baby on the breast.

Thank you sis for your very informative post.

TIA! :)

^^di kaya too early to sleep thru the night si baby? will it be possible to offer your breast after 3-4hrs? if not i suggest you pump in the early morning para mastimulate pa rin production mo. you can store it as panghalo sa food nya eventually. or donate. :)

^i think that's a good sign na nauubos ni baby yung milk mo. your body has well adjusted to his need.

What do you do pagnaninigas breast? I apply hot compress and massage before and 10 min after pumping then pump again pero tigas pa rin e

^^ Alternate hot and cold compress.  Then massage the breasts.  Avoid taking galactagogues or supplements muna. Make the baby latch.  Only the baby can resolve the engorgement.

Do not pump.  Maraming cases nabugbog ang breasts because of early pumping. Sabi yan ni Zeny Feliciano pati Dr. Silvestre.  Again, the baby is the one who can resolve the engorgement.

^ Of course. Some pumps have really strong motion pero kapag sobrang engorged na ang breasts, hindi na kaya ng machine ma-extract ang milk, in which case, one risks damaging one's breasts, not to mention incurring mastitis (kasi hindi makalabas ang milk).  The pump just mirrors a baby's suckling motion and creates demand artificially.  Remember the science behind breastfeeding.  A baby latches, signals get sent to the brain to release the milk-producing hormones, the milk kicks in.

(napabasa sa relactating kasi feeling ko mawawalan ako ng milk from my 2 week hiatus of not directly feeding)

My baby was born 6 lbs Kasi. right now at 10 months, she's 16.5 lbs. sa history Kasi ng family nila 8 lbs -10 lbs Ang range ng mga pinanganak na babies. Paulit-ulit sinasabi, Ang gaan-gaan ng baby Ko, Ang payat daw, ang liit daw blah blah blah...which as a mom, nakakasama ng loob Kasi anak Ko Ang Pinag-uusapan dito.

Reading at kellymom and la leche league I learned that they should not look at the weight. Look at the baby. I'm confident that my baby is Healthy Kasi she's playful, feeds well, very alert and Has never been sick.
Para bang we are not conforming to the social norms. When in fact, pediatricians recommend breastmilk nga as the best milk for babies.
But nevertheless, I am still confident about breastfeeding. I know my baby is healthy and LEAN.
