Mga sis, i need your help. My baby is still in the hospital, and my breasts are so tender na from milk. I have been trying to pump it out 2x na pero patak lang ang lumalabas. I cannot frequently offer it to baby due to being hospitalised. I am thinking of putting hot compress again, after that what can you suggest to do para maibsan na ang engorgement?

Sis Daveigh, yes. Pahinga ka muna. Relax and try again. You really need to empty your breast.

Sis GirlCrush is correct, massage your breast before pumping or hand expressing. You can search the net for videos on how to properly do it. Also, think of your baby while trying to relax.

Oo nga, can't you visit your baby to directly nurse?
na-confine rin panganay ko when she was a baby and I was allowed to visit her in the nursery to nurse. Merong ibang mommy who was allowed to make tambay in the nursery also to nurse her baby.

^ sis, i can only visit him some time kasi CS ako, natatakot pa ako sa binat-binat, baka lalo ko syang hindi mabisita.

I will be bringing my pump to elongate it.

^wala sa size ng nipple or ng boobs ang capacity ng mommy to breastfeed :) you can start between 4-6weeks old.

^^^^i highly encourage you to direct feed your baby as much as you can everytime you visit him, aside from you'll have a hard time breastfeeding your son pag hindi mo naagapan yan, you will have supply issues for sure and your engorgement can also lead to mastitis kasi your breasts don't get emptied.. to encourage you a bit, a friend of mine also had CS tapos twins pa babies nya and they were in NICU for a time since they were preemies (28wks lang ang babies so they have to stay in NICU for a while), but it didn't stop her from breastfeeding :) she always bring BM to her kids and direct feed. what i'm trying to say here is, kaya naman as long as gugustuhin natin :)

^methergine. pero so far nagstop na bleeding ko so stop ko na din sya itake. ang sakit sa loob itapon yung milk, narealize ko how much i love to breastfeed my baby than to give formula, iba yung bonding it gives talaga.
btw sis nakabuy na ako ng life oil sa mercury, once a day lang ba sya? sana it works for me as well

^check this website sis if your medicine appears here (i tried but leads to another drug): http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/sis/htmlgen?LACT

for me it's effective naman. yup, 1x a day lang. my baby seems to know kasi when i use fenugreek eh. he doesn't like the milk much. kaya lifeoil is a better alternative for me. you may also check this blog, it has series of posts which coins 31 days of making more milk.

browse on october 2012 posts and you'll see her tips. :)

my 9 month old is not drinking her milk... nag worry ako, kahapon 4 oz lang nainom nya (at konti lang ang napump ko while in the office, di ko alam kung coincidence) pero she ate solid naman daw sabi ni yaya.

another concern eh minimal lang ang weight gain nya 8.05 kg lang nya at 9 months 3 weeks. sabi ni pedia dapat 10kg daw sya pag nag first birthday... nakakpressure at ayoko sanang i compare sa growth chart ang baby ko kasi she look ok, and i think she is healthy. pedia is not insisting on formula naman, solids actually ang pinapadagdagan nya.. plus excessively malikot kasi ang baies at this phase... ganito din ba ang babies nyo?

^my baby is 1 yr old already pero hinde sya 10kg. tingin ko kasi maliit ang built ni baby ko. at 6 months she started eating solids ng pakonti konti...mga 9mos she started eating breakfast, lunch and dinner (lugaw style na rice with chicken broth, potato, carrots, onions etc.) then 11 mos she is eating whatever we have on the table kaya effort talaga na medyo masabaw ang mga ulam namin.

Mga sis, do you know where I can buy medela nipple formers dito sa Pinas?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000WHL2TE/ref=asc_df_B000WHL2TE2834574?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&tag=googlecouk06-21&linkCode=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B000WHL2TE

Baka kasi makatulong sa paglatch ni baby. Sa ngayon kasi i need to pump it out manually pa.

kaice, don't fret re: weight gain as long as your baby's hitting his/her milestones and healthy naman. once magstart na kasi sila maglikot (6mos onwards), weight gain tends to slow down. and with regards to her milk intake, must have something to do with her solids. and take note also that the growth chart for breastfed babies is different ha.

Mommies, may questions ako hope you can help me.

My baby is 5 weeks old, he sleeps at night approx 6-7 hours, do I need to wake him up para mag feed? In the morning and afternoon I breastfeed him naman regulary.

If I feed him with 1 breast pa lang sumusuka na siya before or after burping, is it okay madalas sumusuka ang baby after feeding?

She will wake up at 3am and 5am, express na gamit ng mommy ko. Then 8am direct feed na ulit sa akin. During this time, yun na yung time na madalas lumungad si baby, kahit na after burping.
IMO, since straight tulog ng baby mo, she tends to drink a lot of milk from you, kasi gutom na gutom na siya. Most of the time hindi na kaya ni baby kaya sinusuka niya. I tink better kung kahit once, gisingin mo siya to feed, para hindi siya gutom na gutom sa morning.
