my in-laws are also pro formula. but they respect my/our(hubby and i) decision to exclusively breastfed my kids. kahit na 2years old na yung son ko noon, they see it, it's not normal to them but they respect us naman.

pain during breastfeeding - actually nursing should not be painful sa totoo lang. may pain kapag nagkaron ng milk blisters or plugged ducts, iyon tinitiis ko pain nun. maliban dun wala. as long as your latch is good maayos nursing nyo  ni baby :)

huwag na breastpump kasi mag sasag - ay marami na ako narinig na comment na ganyan. o ayaw mag nurse ng iba kong friend kasi lalaki nipple sasag boobs. wala ako paki alam. i will give what is best for my kids. besides kapag tumanda ako papangit pa rin naman skin natin. ang importante nabigay ko purpose ng boobs ko and nabigay ko best milk sa kids ko.

if 6months old na baby - why not try sippy cup or cup feeding instead of bottle? yung 6mos old ko kasi ayaw mag bottle and ayaw mag milk if not direct. when i encountered a problem lastweek and no option but to pump and discard my milk, uminom din sya thru cup feeding. nag enjoy din sya.

exclusively breastfed my dihia for 2.2yrs
my syoti is 6months as of yesterday and counting.
i want my syoti to continue nursing and drinking my milk until 2yrs old at least

amen to that sis mom.of.inchikoy (regarding purpose of breast). wala din akong pakialam kung mag sag ang breast ko as long as it is the best for my baby. minsan nga sinasabi ni hubby kinawawa na ng anak mo iyang dede mo kasi nga nagbabalat at nasusugat pero okay lang sabi ko nga.

ang plan ko is to EBF sya ng up to 1 yr old kasi I plan to go back to work na kapag 1 yr old na sya. ang problem ko is ipapasok namin sya sa parang daycare center kasi walang mag aalaga sa kanya sa house. wala kasing maid dito (sa Japan) and I don't know if puwede breastmilk ipainom kapag nasa daycare center na sya. now pa nga lang nahihirapan na akong mahiwalay sa anak ko. kung may way lang sana na hindi na ako humiwalay sa kanya. sabi ko minsan kay hubby gusto ko sya ibalik sa tiyan ko para akin lang sya at forever kami magkasama. hehe... :'(

^hindi ba possible sis na ipadala mo with a cooler bag yung expressed bm mo? in that way sis mas magtagal pa supply mo. then direct feed na lang after work. well i know, easier said than done but baka lang naman possible. :) sa US kasi they allow bm to be given to baby, provided that once di naubos, it's discarded na. so yung ibang mommies, they put smaller serving of bm, like in 4oz bottle each.

Grabe! Wala akong sinabi sa mga mommies dito na years na nag b-breastfeed. Kami ni baby 7 weeks pa lang. Exclusive din.  Nung una iniisip ko 1 year lang. But now, I'm thinking of going way past the first year.  I'm just taking it one day at a time.

Hirap lang kasi si baby gusto laging nakadikit sakin. Hindi ako makalabas labas.

sa mga 1 yr and beyond nagpa bm, did u experience having low supply in your bm? what did u do to increase it? kasi ako i pump na every 2 hrs. i stop pumping lang pag night na kasi i direct feed naman but still nanotice ko humina supply ko. never ako nagmix feeding. care to share what helped you the most in increasing your bm supply?

@ladykristinn, you can leave a cooler bag containing cups or bottles of your expressed milk for your baby to consume while at the day care center.

@kawaii doll, rather than seeing yourself trapped in the house with your baby all the time, look at the bright side.  I think this is perhaps the only stage in your child's life that she will need you 24/7.  Pretty soon (and children grow up fast), you will be missing this time when all your baby needs is you.

If you are a working mother like me, you will really treasure the days when you were with your baby 24/7.  Sa case ko, hindi ko na maibabalik iyong time na magkakasama kami ng kambal ko 24/7 and most of the time, it makes me feel a bit sad and wistful.

^ +1.

kawaii doll, cherish those times. i used to have the same complain before, but since mantra ko ang "if there's a will, there's a way", nakakalabas naman from time to time but it is a struggle since every 2-3hrs humihingi ng dede anak ko and dun palang ubos na sobra oras ko sa labas and it's quite hard to go around rin. my son is now 20mos and still breastfeeding him but mas manageable na ang feeding times na. he doesn't breastfeed that much pag nasa labas (not unless super antok or pagod, he will really go to me and try to grab my top) but if we're just at home, the usual parin ang feeding time nya.

sis geekchiq, we have the same decision na until may milk upto 2yrs magpapa bf ako.  I am a mother of a super premie baby kaya lahat nasa hospital encourages me to produce milk. Kaso dahil premature sya wala talaga akong milk for 1month with all the help of lactation nurse buti di sila nag give up mag bigay ng payo sakin coz I almost give up kasi super stressful na sya sakin that i can't even sleep thingking of it.  But seeing her with all tubes and wires nag iba na yung decision ko kasi only my breast milk can make her live, kaya while nasa Nicu sya nag pump ako every 3hrs interval and ayun eventually padagdag din supply ng milk habang increase yung demand nya. Ngayon 1 year old na sya and continous bf, happy to see her growing at di nagkakasakit. I will make sure to produce milk and bf her upto 2years old.

Working mom here but still ebf my baby (kudos to me! lol)
I plan to breastfed my baby hanggat my milk supply pa.
i heard about that "nega" things about breastfeeding, pero sabi ko wapakels! i want to give what is best for my baby..

@sis kawaii_doll: Haist, how I wish I can be with her 24/7..tama ang ibang sis natin dito cherish that moment!

@sis chooga chooga: 6 mos pa lang akong nagpapa bf but na experience ko na rin yung low milk supply since I'm working fulltime nga. Na bisita ko na rin yata lahat ng site sa internet regarding how to increase your milk supply  ;) and ang sagot is: si baby  :D it's a law of demand and supply so the more na mag milk sayo si baby the more na mag po-produce ng milk ang body mo  ;)
ako nag pa-pump every 3 hours dito sa office then direct feeding kay baby pag nasa house + drink plenty of water and syempre kain ka ng healthy foods. Umiinom din pala ako ng malunggay capsule and I think nakaka tulong talaga sya  :)
At syempre kailangan positive thinking lagi!

babad si baby sa breast ko, i guess comfort feeding sya kasi most of the day nasa office ako, especially sa night i dont feel she ever sleeps kasi naka suck sya sakin all throughout the night.

Saludo ako sa Mga mommies here with premie babies. Iba Talaga ang dinadaanan with that.

Mabuti Mga at may ganitong thread na, that helps us Ebf our babies...

Low supply - sa pagkaka alam ko, Tumatagal na Kasi ang interval ng feeding ng baby as they grow. So yung supply nag adjust din.

Yes cherish every moment with your baby. I have three boys with 3yrs age gap, mahirap to be full time mom, and super dooper handson with them. Minsan feeling ko Hindi pa rin enough, kulang pa rin. Pero in the end, mapapaisip ako I'm blessed Kasi sandali Lang sila maging baby and masaya ako Kasi nandun ako sa tabi nila while growing. Hirap insipin na iba na yayakapin nila Hindi na ako :(

Yes, tama ka sis dapat ma condition mo sarili mo na maka produce ka ng milk. Di rin totoo na walang milk ang isang mommy pagkapanganak nya. Ako matagal yung milk production kasi I gave birth on my 30weeks but I condition myself to produce milk kain ng tama, drink plenty of liquid, at nakatulong ang pag inom ng malunggay capsule and massage. Ang supply ng milk at laging enough for your child basta you bf at baby's demand. I'm also a working mom at this point at di ko nakitang balakid sya to produce milk.

mga sis pwede pa rin ba ako makapag-breastfeed kahit mag-6weeks na si baby? nagpump ako nung mga 2-3weeks eh konti npump ko ayaw ni baby maglatch because of nipple confusion. eh may nagsabi pwede daw magpalatch gamit nipple shield/protector  try ko sana kaya lang magkakamilk pa kaya ako? may natulo pa naman from my breast ko na konti. tia. :-)

I think what stressed me the most was when i saw the amount how much my baby should take in a day which is 24-30 oz. When i pump, i only get 1.5-2oz per session and that bothers  me. Di ko maprovide
milk intake niya. Her diaper also has few urines when i directfeed na unlike before. Tapos since 4 mos baby ko 6.1 pa din timbang. She's 6 mos now 6.1 pa din weight niya. These bother me.

may nakapagtake na ba dito nang cerazetter for 2years+ ? I am on extended breastfeeding (ayaw pa magstop ni baby and i am following the baby led weanig) and kaya ako naka cerazette since this is safe for breastfeeding. Ang side effect of cerazette is hindi ka dadatnan nang period since tuloy tuloy ang inom walang break from the pills. Yesterday i had a light bleeding which has never happened while i was on the pill. I checked if i missed a dose pero hindi naman. I plan to go to an ob if it happens again but i just want to know if this is normal or has anyone experienced the same. thanks!

^^^ Try harder to have the baby latch to you as pumping will not replace the actual suckling motion of baby's mouth in stimulating the breast to produce milk.  You do not need a nipple shield for this, I believe.  Check videos in you tube for guidance.

^^ What is your pedia's opinion regarding the weight of your baby?  May height and weight chart specifically for exclusively breastfed babies.  Please check kung within the curve ang baby mo.

Is your baby restless, irritable or not otherwise thriving?  These are signs that your baby is hungry.

Ang pumping output mo na 1.5-2 oz per session is perfectly normal.  If you wish to get more, try to pump more often.
