^observe the cough muna. normally doctors dont prescribe meds kasi ng basta basta sa infants. and yes BM for now should be enough.

^^depends on the baby but feeding gets more frequent and longer during their growth spurt (please google nalang i cant remember exactly which weeks ang growth spurt) and this normally happens around 6weeks, 9weeks etc.

hi mga sis i just gave birth yesterday,they gave her formula kasi daw shes having feeding problems masyado daw konti yung iniinom nya na milk. Now that were home tinatry ko sya ipalatch sakin how long should she latch? sana magkamilk nako

ano daw problem and what hospital to? based on my observation and hospital they prefer to give baby breastmilk if the baby has problems pagkalabas. and this is violating DOH's unang yakap protocol ata a.

the only way for you to produce milk is for you to let baby latch. please dont even think that you dont have milk coz this is the wrong notion. (assuming that you didn't let baby latch RIGHT AFTER giving birth and hindi kayo nag skin to skin contact ni baby)

thanks sis shes latching but i still dont have milk. pag hungry sya pinapalatch ko muna hoping na may milk pero wala pa rin so fomula muna good thing lang marunong sya mag latch because of her feeding bottles pero gusto ko sana mag breast feeding talaga since mas beneficial yun for the both of us

^sis, hayaan mo lang siyang mag-latch nang mag-latch. ditch the formula! Yung paglatch ni baby ang magi-stimulate sa paglabas ng milk mo. Yan namang formula ang magiging cause ng tuluyang hindi paglabas ng milk mo. Why? Kasi mabubusog dyan si baby, hence tatamarin na siya or hindi na siya magsa-suck sa breast mo. that will send a signal sa body mo na there's no demand for milk, so your body will decrease/stop milk production na. So please, please drop the formula. Give your breast to baby at every chance kahit pang-comfort feed para ma-stimulate. Don't wait for baby to be super hungry before you give the breast, baka mag-away lang kayo. Kailangan pareho kayong relaxed and comfortable. Tiyaga tiyaga sis, when my baby was 1-2 months lang, halos maghapon siyang nakadikit sa akin at dumedede, parang hindi nabubusog. our goal is NOT to make our babies botchog with those sugar-dosed formula, but to fill them with our nutritious, God-formulated breast milk. I can't say that breastfeeding is easy but we were designed by God to do it. 

to all mommies, be confident that you can produce milk for your babies. sa mind magsisimula ang lahat. Nung unang panahon, wala namang formula nabuhay ang mga tao. Anong silbi ng mga suso natin kung hindi para magpakain ng mga babies natin. Hindi yan display!

i failed breastfeeding my daughter when she was a baby so guilty talaga ako.. she didn't have a strong sucking ability so konti lang nabreastfeed nya sa'kin.. i don't know pero siguro mali ko din kasi we bought a formula a week after we tried and tried.. i would force her to breastfeed minsan mahigit isang oras na ganun.. she would cry and cry kasi di sya makadede ng milk even if punong-puno at super bigat ng dibdib ko.. naawa na kami si bought a formula until sa nagstop nakong magproduce ng milk..

i am now pregnant with my 2nd baby.. this time, i will make sure that my baby gets enough until she's 2 yo..

pano kung lets say after a week, hindi parin maka latch si baby? basta ipilit lang idikit sa breast hanggang matuto?

yan kasi kinakatakot ko. baka mataranta ako or si hubby kasi gutom na si baby so baka mag formula kami kung pareho kaming hindi alam dapat gawin.

^best to consult a lactation consultant to correct baby's latch IMO. it's better to be proactive ika nga. getting the baby to latch correctly takes some patience i must say. if mali ang latch it should be unlatched right away and let baby latch again. you can check on youtube to see how a correct latch looks like.

^^^ +1. I have been saying this over and over here regarding ditching the formula as it compromises the milk supply.

paano ka magkakaroon ng milk if you keep on giving formula milk to your baby? which hospital ka nanganak? bawal yang ginawa nila a coz if they think they need to give formula, sa dropper dapat binibigay and hindi bottle, that's one more thing. coz giving the bottle too early will definitely cause nipple confusion and make baby TOO LAZY to latch and suck on your breast.

mamaya ako manganganak at etong hubby ko ay namimilit bumili kami ng formula at magdala ng bottle kasi paano daw kung wala akong milk. ganon daw kasi ginawa sa friend niya. pinag formula dahil walang milk ang mommy. ( hospital ito somewhere in commonwealth. di ko alam saan exactly)

sabi ko nalang kasi sa St Lukes pro breastfeeding, tsaka di magugutom anak niya kahit first few days walang makuhang milk basta kailangan ipa suck lang ng ipa suck para ma stimulate ang breasts.

Yeah, ditch the formula, esp st lukes ka pa manganganak,advocacy ng breastfeeding yun. Please dont bring any bottle and formula.baka kasi matempt lang kayo magbigay kay baby kapag nappresure ka bec you dont have milk yet.may mga lactation interns dun/ nurses na tuturuan ka para maglatch si baby sa iyo, in that way masstimulate breast mo to produce milk, kasi nga may demand,like what our other GT sisters said.tska baka hindi rin kayo payagan ng pedia ni baby bigyan kaagad ng formula. And yes correct ka, hindi magugutom si baby, 2-3 days makakasurvive yan with just few drops of your milk, lalo na first na lumalabas is colostorum. Dont worry and dont be stressed out sis!

Mommies, to those with 4-5week old babies, how much expressed milk do u give to your babies? Ang alam ko kasi at least 2oz pero just yesterday parang Bitin na sa baby ko sa 2oz... I'm afraid naman mag overfeed. Next week pa kami Balik sa pedia Niya and first time mom here. O Baka malakas lang sa milk baby Ko

^baby ko 15days old, nakakaubos na ng 3 to 4 oz.. Pero mas madalas 2oz muna give namin pag kinulang add nanaman..

my colostrum just arrived today yey! how long does it usually last? nahihirapan si baby and hindi ko makuha yung position na gusto nya kawawa naman sya pag naiyak nagkukulay talong na  hindi ko na alam gagawin ko

^ sis tyaga lang ganyan din problema ko nung una at hangang ngayon may times na di ko pa rin makuha ang tamang pagpapalacth kay baby.. nung una pag di ko mapalatch, binibigyan ko ng formula   lalo na nung time na di na ako makabangon sa sobrang antok at kikirot pa yung tahi ko...pero di ko naman sinasabi na gayahin mo ako hehe.. Lagi ko rin iniisip na marami akong gatas and i think it works, kasi dati si baby saglit lang bibitaw na at iiyak, ngayon kakatulog na siya sa breast ko    Tama mga ibang sissies here wag ka bibili ng formula kasi matetempt ka talaga na bigyan siya, more than two weeks na si baby, yung maliit na can na milk na binili ni hubby till now meron pa, kaya kahit papaano yun ang basehan ko na mas maraming times pa rin siya na nag BF sa akin..

Ganyan din nagawa ko sa panganay ko premie kasi panganay ko (pati yung baby ko ngayon) both of them, hirap na hirap magsuck kahit  sa bottle, pagkakaiba lang dito sa pangalawa ko mas desidido ako sa pagpapa BF..sa panganay ko sumuko agad ako...

nakakataranta pala talaga pag umiiyak si baby, tapos namumula ng sobra.

wala parin akong milk whole day. pero pinapalatch namin siya every 2hours. sana naman magkaron na bukas, kawawa naman kasi frustrated walang ma suck na milk.

si Zeny Feliciano or Rich na lactation counselors di naman sumasagot sa tawag! gusto sana namin magpaturo since first baby namin.

I think that's normal, my milk came in mga 2nd day but super konti lang. I ended up mixed feeding they might be busy due to the holidays, can your OB or pedia help you?

^^sis pwde ka magpa-assist sa nurse na naka assign sayo or yung nagpapaligo kay baby, tuturuan ka nila. Yung sa ob naman iguguide ka paano mag massage ng breast mo before breastfeeding. Take care sis!!! Paggaling ka!

sis m_lim saan ka nanganak? ako kasi sa st. lukes qc and maayos naman ang lactation specialist na naka assign sa akin, si miss dinah. kahit 3 months after giving birth, pag may question ako sumasagot agad, pag na miss nya tawag ko, sya na tumatawag.

i gave birth saturday pero tuesday na talaga ako nagka milk. naiiyak na ako that time kasi dry na ang lips ng baby ko. i resorted to ask my parents bring the sterlizier, feeding bottle and buy a formula milk ng monday pero nahuli kami ng mga nurse at pinapipirma kami ng waiver.

New babies need very little food in the first few days. Don't be tempted to give him a bottle if he refuses the breast.

Then, kailangan ma empty muna ni baby yung isang breast para makuha nya yung hindmilk and hindi puro foremilk.
