Solo Travel (Thread 3)

itching to do some solo travel to Kalinga, to visit Apo Wang-Od for the traditional tattoo.. kaya lang i have no idea on the details of going there (i.e.  saan pwede mag stay, ano bus pwede sakyan, what to bring for Apo or magkano charge nya, etc).. andaming documentaries sa net, wala naman ako makita na pwede pagtanungan ng tour package.. plus the bf is also itching to join kasi gusto rin nya magpalagay ng tatt.. haist...

For me, masarap magsolo traveling. Nakakarelax kasi nakakapag soul searching ka. You manage your own time, mas makikilala mo sarili mo and you're free to do whatever you want! Agree ako sa sinabi ng ibang sis dito, feeling fearless and adventurous ka, pero masaya. When I travel alone, I stay in a decent hostel (dependeng on the country or city) where I get to meet different people from different countries and backgrounds. It's a great experience! Travel while you're young and free!

i've travelled alone a few times already, but most of the time, i've already pre-arranged to meet friends or family in the target destination.

first ever solo travel ko was in Copenhagen, Denmark. i had no pre-arranged plans, i just went where my feet would take me, and took a last minute city tour.

being a solo traveler in a city where i don't speak a word of the local language was a fun and liberating experience for me and it forced me to move out of my comfort zone and i had to rely on the kindness of strangers (asking for directions and whatnot).

hassle lang was the part where i had to resort to taking selfies (hindi uso ang selfie stick sa europe), or beg random strangers to take my picture with a landmark. haha!

I'm thinking of going to Hong Kong this December for my birthday, solo trip.

How was Denmark, goddessella? May Visa ba sila dun? How was the food?

Nakakamiss din magtravel solo.. This year i might go to a solo trip ulit, maybe before the wedding. Kahit sa malapit lang.

Denmark was amazing! convenient din dahil may hop on hop off (HOHO)bus&ferry around the city. i went during the winter time (early january 2014) and the HOHO tickets were good for 48 hours, so sulit.

you need to have a schengen visa, pero dahil i was studying in sweden at the time, my swedish resident permit was enough. the food is fantastic.. Denmark is known to have one of the world's strictest food regulatory board so you are assured na the food served is fresh and of high quality.

home din sila ng mga michelin star restaurants, pero as i was in a student budget, dun lang ako sa mga tipid places kumain. tee hee!.

Nakakapag shopping ako mag isa at nakakain sa restos magisa but mag solo travel ito ang matagal ko ng gustong gawin na hindi ko talaga magawa. Pag anjan na nauunahan na ko ng takot hayss!

I am so excited to go on a solo travel next month. A full week in HongKong, then possibly cross to Macau and some parts of China. Come what may. That's the beauty of solo travel. Can't wait!!!

sa mga sis na nag solo travel abroad did you book a tour kahit yung 1day lang? for a country you will be visiiting for the first time?

i'll be doing a solo travel to beijing last week of march. i'm thinking of joining a one day tour. i'll also be going to shanghai. bale 9days ako sa china. first time to be in china kaya super research ako. i think kasi pag may tour i can meet other people para hindi naman super alone.

^Depends sis on the place.  Pag mahirap ang transpo (kunwari mountains, etc) or language barrier na halos wala english signs at mahirap magtanong sa locals, I book myself a tour pero kung madali lang like Paris, Sydney, i just roam on my own.

^^Beijing is easy to do solo if you'll just be going around the city center. Just take their efficient subway trains. If you plan to go beyond the city pwede pa rin naman solo but medyo effort because of the language barrier. I have entries in my blog of my visits to Beijing and Xian (bawal lang to post links here but you can click on my signature). Technically not solo since I was with my hubby during his company trips but I go around the city on my own while he's working.

Huhuhu. My mom wont allow me to go solo to Sagada this weekend -- my birthday weekend. hays.

^first solo travel ko di alam ng parents ko na solo ako. alam nilang aalis ako pero di nila alam na mag isa lang ako. di din naman nila tinanong kung sino kasama ko so hindi na din ako nagmakeup ng kwento lol. nung nalaman ng mom ko nasa ilocos na ko. eh yun yung day na lumindol sa Bohol so sobrang worried sya baka daw lumindol din sa ilocos. hehe. after ko makauwi at safe naman, wala na kong problem sa pagpapaalam sa kanina when traveling solo.

^ Talaga? You did it when the Bohol quake happened... intense! Grabe sa timing! Anyway, for those who never tried solo travel ever, try it at least once and after that, for sure... you'll be hooked. Super liberating experience. Plus, it will really push you to go outside of your comfort zone, in turn, you become more maabilidad, bolder, more daring & open-minded, too! Well, speaking from experience... Again, results will vary depending on how it goes, but I say, go for it, kahit na once lang ever!

^Definitely liberating! You become more confident in facing the world. And do it while you're still single because it's easier. Once you get married and start a family it will be more of a challenge to travel solo. Ibang adventure na kasi pag kasama na family mo.

Mga sis, pag 21 year old na girl, saan pinaka-okey mag-solo travel? Okey ba sa Korea? Graduation gift kasi sa niece ko. Siyempre gusto ko di siya mahirapan at safe siya. Korea niya gusto kaso worry ko yung visa, pwede ba ma-approve ang ganun na fresh graduate pa lang?
