Solo Travel (Thread 3)

^ I've never brought kahit swiss knife lang in any of my trips din because of that reason. Well, that and I seldom travel with checked in baggage kasi, e 'di naman 'yun pwede sa carry on.

I do bring a whistle, though. Pantawag ng attention if anything ever happens to me.

^ tenks. yep, baka dalhin ko na lang din whistle ko. i used to bring spray and whistle with me everyday. whistle and payong na lang dalhin ko talaga. payong para puwedeng pamukpok.

ang top must-have ko sa solo travel ay "data roaming", thanks to Globe's flat-rate. either that or pocket wi-fi. basta may internet, i can survive solo travel dahil GPS at Google lang ang katapat niyan. haha!

^i appreciate this too pero minsan mas masaya pa rin kumausap ng tao, magtanong ng directions and all. Although admittedly hindi na talaga ganun kasafe ang kumausap ng stranger kahit saan. Haha.

I never bring any self defense item with me when i travel solo. Di ko lang naisip na kelangan lol.

^^^just do it sis!:-)  Solo travel is a little bit like driving, only the first few days are scary, and then you get the hang of it. And just like driving, every day doing your solo travel is like "practice", with different scenarios and situations.

My first consciously planned solo travel was going to Australia for a ten day break about four years ago.  And it was so much fun!  The thing with being solo is you begin to rely not only on yourself but also on the kindness of others.  And it makes one feel alive, sa totoo lang!  Now I live in Eu, I love going on trips on my own.  I still go on trips with friends etc, pero kelangan ko ng trips on my own to refresh etc.  Iba rin ang solo travel, masaya!  You get to interact with people and unlike when you are with travel friends wherein you are in a bubble, alone, you are more likely to interact with locals, chat with them and you know, get a feel of their lives.  So go, do it!  Enjoy Europe on your own! :-)

Good to stumble on this thread. I am planning my solo travel this coming december. First time ko if ever. I always travel with my friends. I'll do solo on December sa 27th bday ko. I'm planning Singapore or kung wihtin the country sa EL Nido ata.

After so many long years... i will go solo this coming May 31, 2015...Pinayagan ako ni hubby.
well... iw ill just attend an over night seminar in Manila and stay in a hotel alone. 

Excited na ako...but for sure maraming calls eto to check on my kids.

wanna try this solo travel pero parang hindi ko kaya..
havent done this ever and wanna do it this time.
how do you handle this fear guys? what to do? where to go?
who to approach when in one place na?

for a first timer san pwede muna pumunta...? commute lang...

^ You technically don't have to need anyone's help as you could read up on the web for ideas on places to go and things to do and see before your trip, but if you still feel confused or lost in the place, ask the locals for help. In my experience, people are generally much nicer to solo travelers hehe laging may hint of concern.

Kung mej may hesitation ka pa, 'wag muna sa malayo. Dun ka muna sa long bus rides lang like Sagada or Ilocos. Kung feel mo pa rin to repeat, that's the time you go further.

^Ilocos, kayang-kaya i-solo travel. kaso ako tamad sa long land travel so nag-plane ako to Laoag then bus to Vigan. ang saya mag-solo sa Vigan! foodtrip galore!! tapos sarap mag-emo sa Calle Crisologo. lol!

and please dont forget to bring a flashlight on a solo trip, yon din ang weapon ko, kasi it gives you light at pwede mo na rin ipamukpok ng ulo :-)

My trip to Turkey & Greece is now over. I joined tour groups but for Istanbul & Athens, I was by myself. True that-- masaya to interact nga with locals and other tourists. And true that you get to rely on the kindness of strangers. Dami kong ligaw moments! Pero ok lang. I came back in one piece hehe.

I didn't bring any pamalo or self-defense items. Wala na din kasing space sa luggage. And wala, nawala talaga sa isip ko hehe.

Ano bang mga bet mong gawin sa travel mo? Sagada is totally recommended for solo travelers, but August might not be the best time.. Correct si sis simplepink baka delikado ang weather, aside from malilimit ang activities mo, delikado din ang travel papunta doon.

Kung land travel lang gusto mo, Baler or Ilocos (or Baguio if hindi ka pa nakapunta dun).

ang lalakas ng loob nyo mga Sis i'm so afraid to travel alone talaga. even to buy something in the store near our house nag papasama pa ako. that's the weird part of me. gusto ko lagi ako may kasama at kausap.

When i first travelled solo to Baguio, i stayed in Hotel Henrico in Kisad. Medyo lumang hotel na sya, nothing posh, pero malinis naman at safe. Several meters away from main road, so may uphil walk ng konti. Sa pagkaalala ko less than 1k per night ang rent ko nun.

I guess pwede din mag transient house, but most of those are for large groups eh. You can always check airbnb for options.

I did a pseudo-solo trip to Los Angeles. Pseudo-solo kasi i was alone in the trip, but for the most part i met some friends from grade school, college, colleagues from work. Si technically sa mga pasyal ko I was with different set of friends everyday.
