checklist: What to Buy for Baby II

Hello!

Little one is almost 8months now and here's what I found very useful, I've also added notes on some items:
(thanks @pandoralover, I'm using post as my checklist)

Crib & crib mattress - 1 - we bought one that may be converted to a daybed, we placed it literally beside the side of the bed that I sleep on.

Crib Beddings - 3 sets - bolster cases, mattress cover and pillow cover (we have not used the pillow cover and pillows in the first months due to SIDS)

Mattress protector - 2 - Bought these at mercury drug is a quilted waterproof sheet, cotton on top sheet I lay before covering the mattress, this is to avoid pee or any liquid to penetrate to the mattress so I would just have to change the protector and mattress cover in case baby accidentally peed or vomited or any liquid spill on the mattress.

Pack and play - we love to travel thus this one is very useful

Crib Mobile  - 1

Baby Rocker    1

Stroller   1

Car Seat   1 (Very very very important!)

Swaddle blankets   5

Blankets   3 - we did not use this until later to avoid unnecessary accidents from happening since newborns cannot lift even the smalllest object, to avoid suffocation etc.

Lampin   2 dozens - I got a few more hand me downs - there's this shop where we buy lampin about 40% lesser than the mall price, it's hello baby garments in Bel-Air Makati. A dozen of curity diaper is priced at P300+ pesos only.

They also have a lot of baby clothes at a good price. They are all Philippine made but to be exported. The cotton of is of good quality, not banketa quality at all, very far from it.

Diaper Bag   1 - we are using the big bag with lots of pockets from Beabi, hubby carries it like it's just his bag and it does not look like a diaper bag at all. Been using it since baby was born, no signs of wear and tear just yet. Inexpensive but has a good quality.

Baby Carrier/Wrap   1

Bottles   14 - hoarding bottles during sales in Lazada, I got Avent bottles at 700++ (2 pcs 9 oz) that you can buy at P1k++ at the malls.

Bottle Cleaner   1

Bibs -  10 - we got a lot but we have not used it that much. Baby hates it.

Bottle Sterilizer   1 - Bought also during a Lazada sale - Farlin - 1,600++ regular price and I got it for 1,400

Breast Pump   1 - manual

Hooded Towels   2 - bought also at Hello Baby

Washcloths   - 1 dozen

Baby Bathtub   1 - hand me down from cousin - Baby 1st

Onesies  -  from Carter's and we bought also at Hello Baby

Sidesnap/Kimono shirts  - bought also at Hello Baby very useful during the first few months

Pajamas   - we're pairing this with the onesies, to avoid insect bites

Booties, socks  - 5 pairs

Breastfeeding strap - I bought a strap that you can attach to any cloth like lampin, scarf, baby blankets etc thus I did not have to buy the covers, easy to bring and I can change and laundry everything I use without the need to buy another breastfeeding cover to use as a replacement while the other one is at the laundry bin.

Nursing Tops   - I didnt actially bought any nursing tops, I always just used button up shirts.

Nursing Bras   5

Waist Binder   1

Walker - 1 - hand-me-down from a cousin too

High Chair - we bought a one that is convertible to a kiddie chair and table, the material is just like that of the Little Tykes

Yup yup! Glad I saw their pub mat online. Hubby and I went there kanina as today is for SM advantage/BDO rewards card/and Mom Card holders, and we were able to take advantage of awesome deals talaga!

We got good deals on Mammy Poko newborn diapers (we're CD-ing but siguro not for the first few days sa hospital), Avent bottle sets, Medela breast pump accessories, and Fisher Price and Chicco toys. Sobrang sulit ang punta, mga mommies! I suggest you go there early kasi medyo nakakapagod when it gets crowded. Sobrang daming preggies and mommies with babies

I checked on my son's old clothes last weekend and i think I need not buy tie sides as I have lots already and baby is just going to use them for a month or so. Sayang din.  The receiving blankets and other baby stuffs, I think I already gave them away so need to buy again. Just two or three receiving blankets will do since I'm due April. 
I'm still contemplating on what brand of breastpump to buy.  I used the single electric Avent breastpump on my first but I gave it away to my cousin when my son self weaned.  Now need to buy again.
Feb. 8 is a holiday so I think I will shop and complete my baby essentials (hopefully).  Tummy is getting bigger and heavier already.  So by holy week during the long vacation, all I need to do is wash all baby's clothes and needs, sort and pack my ang baby's hospital bag.
Next is beauty rest while waiting for baby's arrival. EDD is April 9.

Hi Mommy ghye! Are you a working mom? If yes, may I recommend Medela Freestyle Breastpump (double electric) or Spectra S1 or S2 Hospital Grade double electric breast pump din. Both brands can be used quietly sa work, and can be used multiple times in a day. My sis-in-law swears by her Medela pump, pero I've heard several good reviews rin on the Spectra ones, and cheaper pa.

^yes po, I'm a working mom so I really need a breast pump and I'm considering Medela as I saw lots of good reviews.  I'm comparing also prices of Medela and Avent double electric for I will be ordering them from UK.  Avent is much much cheaper there.

I'm already planning to buy baby stuff. Will actually purchase them on my 30th week which is a month away from now.

I plan to exclusively BF and I'm going to be a stay home mom as I have already resigned from work. I just wanna know if I still need to buy an electric pump (keen on buying Medela) and/or manual pump. 😀

What happens also if full and milk supply ko and ayaw pa naman mag feed ni baby?

^kami naman maaga namili. 24th week bumili kami ng second hand Graco pack and play crib. 1,300 ko lang nabili. tinawaran ko pa from 1,500 na price sa olx.ph.

26th week pa lang namili na kami ng other baby things sa Grand Baby Fair.  Ang dami namin nabili ng husband ko for our baby. almost complete na kami sa baby things, except for the car seat, stroller, binder/girdle (to be bought sa department store), breast pump (later pa ko bibili after i have established my supply), cooler box, ice packs and toiletries (i plan to use Human Heart Nature baby care products and detergents for my child).

Naka 12k ako sa baby fair, pero almost complete na. di na kami bumili ng carrier kasi my cousin gave me a SaYa stretchy wrap. sa newborn clothes like white tiesides and pajamas, binigyan niya rin ako kaya di na kami bumili nito.

gustong gusto ko yung mga Carter's na onesies around 8 ata binili ko. Nakabili rin ako ng:

2 Next9 nursing covers
1 rubber changing mat
1 generic (non-branded) wearable blanket for only 150 *(compared sa Halo sleepsack).
1 pink terno t-shirt and shorts set
2 sets of comforters and pillow sets for only 1,000
1 set baby pillow case and bolster cases for only 70 pesos
3 swaddle/receiving blankets
2 hooded towels
around 12 washcloths
12 Enfant white gauze lampin
12 colored Enfant gauze lampin
3 pairs mittens
3 caps
6 pairs socks
1 Pigeon nasal aspirator (well-recommended ng friend ko)
Pigeon disposable breast pads (36 pcs in a pack)

Goon (japanese brand) disposable diapers 48 pcs in a pack (*will use Next9 cloth diapers pag tapos na sa newborn stage).

4 pieces na Pigeon bottles with peristaltic nipples. Ang mahal pero well-recommended kaya bumili ako kahit 4 lang muna kasi malaki yung discount (well-recommended)

1 Looney Tunes sterilizer+dryer for only 1,400 (well-recommended din ng friend ko, original price niya ay 3,000)

1 Bath tub for only 250
1 bath net for only 175

yan lang yung mga naaalala kong items, pero basta marami yun. sobrang happy.
tapos may swag bag pa na maraming laman.

Sis sa babyfair ka nakabili ng generic sleepsack? Huhuhu anong name ng stall/store? Meron kayang big sizes pang toddlers? Xlarge na kasi size ng toddler ko sa halo eh i only have 1 palang. I use it so he wont be able to jump out of his crib lol

^yes sis. naku di ko natandaan ang name ng store. meron ako nakita sa olx, 280 pesos ata benta niya. yung binili ko yung pinakamaliit. sayang. andaming big sizes dun. puro malaki na nga yung natira kaya isa lang ang nabili ko.

Nagenjoy din ako sa swag bag. Dapat ata pinaghiwahiwalay ko yung binili ko para naka more than 1 receipt ako ng 3500 para madaming swag bag... Hahahahaha... Pwede ba yun? Sayang! Lol

Gusto ko sana bumili ng swing, wala naman sa fair... Lungkot! San ba nkakabili ng murang swing ng fisherprice na battery operated or electric or mamaroo? Meron ako nakita ol, kaya lang baka may other option pa.

Dami pa kulang sa checklist ko but i think next month na ko magresume ng shopping para diretso nesting, linis linis and laba laba haha

^ yearly ata yun sis eh. Yun ang alam ko ah, not sure, first  timer din ako eh. Pero sana nga meron pa ulit kasi dami ko pa kulang, sandali lang kami dun andami kasi tao tapos nkakapagod umikot ng umikot, sumakit yung balakang ko. Hahaha

Hi sissies! hubby and I will buy our little bear's (that's how we call out baby) essentials on my 7th month pa. I'm 6 months and 1 week preggy now and we followed the pamahiin of his mom and my lola not to buy baby things before I hit my 7th month. Though my mom said that I could buy some things na pero if it will be kept too long before I deliver the baby kaya baka maluma agad. I'm super excited and OC din kaya kating kati na ko to buy, least that I can do is to prepare my checklist.

More Tips:

When buying baby stuffs, know to differentiate essentials from nice to haves. If budget is limited, you could do away with the following items, or you can always find or create your own alternatives:
a. Walkers
b. Baby carriers
c. Baby gym

^took those items out of our list before going to the baby fair pa. essentials lang ang plano ko bilhin. ayoko kasi ng kalat and unnecessary expense.

with respect sa walker, ang balak ko bilhin yung andador--yung native na walker na gawa sa kawayan...pero matagal pa naman yun.

^my first son's walker is still good and to be used by the next baby.  Also we have a pink high chair that was used by my niece 6 years ago when she was staying with me.  It's a pink one but still as good as new until now.  My son used it also and again to be used by the incoming baby.  I don't care if it's pink as long as it serves the purpose and it's for indoor use only lang naman.  For the crib, we still have the wooden crib used by my niece and nephews then was turned over to me when I was expecting my son 4 yrs ago and to be used again this time.  I'm just lucky that the expensive items are all still preserved well so a big cut on expenses.

^after weeks of hunting for a car seat, nakabili na rin kahapon. yung for newborn to toddler. Baby 1st ang brand. we bought it for 3,600 sa Robinsons Metro East. about sa stroller, napag desisyunan namin na saka na lang bumili kapag nakapanganak na at malaki na ang baby. mas gusto kasi ng husband ko yung umbrella stroller para hindi masyadong bulky.

Namili kami kanina ng konting baby clothes at worth 2k plus na agad nagastos ko. My goodness! Super gastos pala talaga magkababy. Btw, 6mos preggy pala ako at first time mom. Yun 2k plus na yun super kulang pa ha. Ang mga nabili ko pa lang 3 tie sides na sleeveless, 3 tie sides with sleeves, 3 pajamas, a couple of mittens, booties, bonnets, bib and 1 receiving blanket. At take note nakasale pa yung iba dyan. Wala pa ko ibang necessities like crib, stroller, baby bath and grooming essentials, feeding bottles, yung iba pang damit na need ng baby at linens, etc.

Yung mga binili ko yun lang kasi naalala ko na needs ng baby. Wala pa kasi akong list. May alam ba kayong website na merong baby essentails list? Yung mga nakikita ko kasi iba-iba nasa list. Nakakaoverwhelm! Hindi ko na alam kung alin dapat ko sundin.
