Tonsilectomy

Hi all! I  just had Tonsilectomy last Monday... grabe..it really hurts... lalu na nung nagsubside yun anesthesia.
Gusto ko lang malaman if meron dito natanggalan narin ng tonsils?
What are the effects afterwards? if meron man.
Ano yung mga kinain nyo nung nasa recovery period pa kayo?

is gargling betadine okay? kasi i know it heals wounds faster.

oo nga eh. my mom really dont want it... pero the last time na nagkasore throat ako andami nya ng nana..so sabi ng doctor, better remove it nalang.

Meron palang thread na ganto dito. Gusto ko magpatonsilectomy dahil sa tonsil stones. Ayaw ako tigilan. Nakakapagod naman check ka ng check ng tonsils mo. Nakaka cause kasi din ng bad breath. Worth it ba to? Almost 3yrs na rin akong check ng check ng tonsils ko. Everytime na magshoshower ako lagi ko yang sinislip. Minsan wala pero pag pinisil mo may lumalabas. Its gross I know. Kaya desperada na ko patanggal to.

You may want to try first TheraBreath products. It is so effective, see if it will works on you before considering tonsillectomy

I'll be having my tonsillectomy on Thursday, takot talaga ako. My ENT recommended to remove my tonsils kase Grade 3 enlarged tonsils daw yung akin and he said that meron na din akong Obstructive Sleep Apnea Syndrome. Hay, gusto ko nga magpasecond opinion. Well actually other ENTs checked this already and they noticed that my tonsils are big pero isang ENT lang ang nagrecommend to remove it.

Anyway you can also try TheraBreath products nga while waiting.
I am using their toothpaste, mouthwash and throat spray. 
These products really helps me to totally prevent my tonsil stones from coming back = no sore throat din. I can enjoy eating sweets now without fearing na mamamaga nanaman ang lalamunan ko after eating such. Medyo pricey nga lang kaya tipid mode ako sa paggamit. But it’s definitely worth it!

supercalley - hi sis. got my tonsils removed  2 mos ago and so far ok naman. Mabilis din kase recovery ko and naging maayos breathing ko. Halos magkadikit na kase yung tonsils ko kaya factor sya sa poor respiration ko.

im doing good... no complication after the op!
no more sorethroat but i am always taking vitamin C na kasi madali ako dapuan ng sakit. kahit noon ata na di pa to natatanggal but then the doctor said that the tonsils are like filters din daw kahit papano.
so yun ^_^

I also get tonsil stones pag nagkaka sipon or allergies ako, namumuo talaga siya, then I just try to cough or spit it out. Basta wala akong post nasal drop, wala naman akong tonsil stones.

Yung tonsil kasi natin parang shield yan to infections, so usually yan ang unang magkakasakit. Umiiwas ako sa matamis and always drink water para hindi sumakit tonsils ko. Takot kasi ako ma-operahan so I just take care of my tonsils na lang.

Sa nagpa tonsilectomy, ano daw ba side effects sabi ng doctor? Magkakaroon ba ng long term voice change? Saka pano na nga daw yun defense mo sa infections pag wala ng tonsils?

Also, mas masakit daw magpa tonsilectomy kapag adult na. I'm in my 20s.

I really hate these tonsil stones.

Hi sis snowpea. Ang sabi ng ENT ko prior to my surgery wala syang effect sa voice kase malayo daw ang voice box sa tonsils and so far tama naman sya. I can still sing and boses talaga ang puhunan ko sa work ko at no changes or effect at all sa voice ko. i had it removed since Oct 25 and until now di pa ko nagkakasakit or colds di tulad dati. siguro because i'm taking vitamins din. Masakit talaga sya sis, pero yung worst pain hanggang 4th day lang then after nun kaya ko na ng walang pain reliever.

thanks for the info sis. ask ko lang who is your ENT and magkano inabot lahat? balita ko kasi umaabot siya ng 30-60k.

My Doc is Dr. Romel Mercado..sa Bernardino General Hospital sya sa Novaliches sis. Yung akin inabot sya ng 63k. Wala naman ako binayaran kase sagot ng Health Card ko lahat. 18k yung sagot ng phil health so yung 45k sagot ng HMO ko.

Kakagaling ko lang kanina ng makati med. Nirefer sakin sa information desk si ENT Dr. Ramon Lopa. Omg. Suuper pogi nya kahit mga nasa around 40+ na sya. Sulit pagaantay ko. Haha.Ang hot nya lang tas ang bango and neat nya manamit. haha ayun kinikilig ako habang kausap nya ko. Umaygas. Lande. Haha. ayun. magaling sya na specialist. straight to the point sya. Inexplain nya kung saan at pano nabubuo yung tonsil stones. Tas sinabi ko sakanya na 6yrs na kong may ganon at nakakapagod na maglinis ng maglinis then nirecommend nya the only way to get rid of it is also get rid of it your tonsils. I asked him kung magkano magpatonsillectomy sabi nya more than 60k daw. And andun din pala sya sa PGH so mas mura pag dun namin gagawin yung operation. And then meron din pala akong post nasal drip niresetahan nya ko ng steroid nasal spray. Ayun lang. Yung tonsilectomy will definitely do it as soon as possible. I'll update you guys. Btw, he charged me ₱1,680.00 for the check up only just so you have an idea of you're planning to see him.

Successful sa tonsilectomy. 5hrs ago.Still in the hospital. Not bleeding. Baka bukas pwede na ko lumabas. Haay. Free of tonsil stones na. Thank you Lord.

^^update us of your recovery sis. I have read posts na matagal ang recovery ng tonsillectomy pag medyo adult na ginawa yung procedure. and your immune system naapektuhan din daw.

^sorry sis ngayon lang nakapagopen, ok na ko. Fully recovered na. Tama nga sila 2weeks lang recovery sa mga adults. Masakit lang talaga sya for 2weeks. Pero tolerable naman yung sakit, for me ha. Mataas kasi pain tolerance ko eh. Haha. Yung immune system ko ganon parin naman, di naman ako sakitin kahit dati pa. Ayun. Update update na lang sa mga balak magpatonsillectomy jan ha. Hehe. Goodluck.
