one more question...
pag nag send ba ko ng letter of request for cancellation... with death certificate... i stop na nila charges nun?
or dapat i-settle muna talaga yun debt to proceed with the cancellation?

^normally, mananakot sila na dapat mo isettle on behalf of your deceased loved one.

If it's credit card debt, then probably what was discussed above (the debt should be dissolved with the death of the owner) applies.

I've read around (sorry, didn't bookmark the links related to Philippine law). Looks like the debt doesn't really dissolve with the owner. The estate could be bank accounts, real estate, investments and other assets named after the deceased.

After the debt has been paid and estate taxes had been settled - doon pa lang makukuha ng mga beneficiaries ang natira sa estate at paghahati-hatian... assuming na may natira pa after paying the debt.

Seems like a pretty complicated matter lalo na kung maraming assets ang namatay. I'd really consult a very good lawyer to help me settle this one, including that of credit card debt. It may be possible that you may have to file a case against the bank for the harassment they give.

Need your inputs.. Just this morning I received a letter from bdo offering me dual gold cards.
Last yr ko pa gusto magapply for cc only because of the tablet na gusto ko bilhin and of course this is my preferred bank since andito savings acct ko.
Also kung kukuha ako, wiser ba for me na humngi nalang ng lower limit like shop more? At least shop more 900 lang..

^ sis, in ulta.com kasi, the credit card allowed should have a US billibg address. that's precisely why I'm asking kung meron bang philippine-issued CC with a US billing address. :)

Sis, I forgot about this card. Maybe you could try this - bibigyan ka ng personalized US address daw. Yun nga lang, this is a debit card - so you need to load enough funds first before spending. But at least it might solve your problem of shopping from US sites that strictly require having US address.

Having credit history helps you get approved with loans. Do you have plans to set up a business? Get a house? A car? The credit history you earn from paying bills with the credit cards would help (but this is not the only way to get approved).

Tama lang ang iniisip mo, the annual fees can be a pain. Pero there are people who are able to get the annual fees waived. I don't own a BDO card but I heard that there's a minimum spending requirement each year to get the annual fees waived which depends on every card. However if you want higher credit limit then usually there's no other choice but to get a higher level CC.

I think okay lang naman as long as makiusap ka lang sa kanila. In my part kasi, parating naka waive yung annual fee at madali lang din. I always call every cut off.

thank you sisses!
sa dual gold cards kasi 2400 yung annual which is sayang din diba. Kung tutuusin interested lang ako mgcard for booking travel online and perks (sana madami ;). kaya nga plan ko cc nalang gagamitin for groceries and bills basta ready lang naman yung cash pangbayad para lang magamit (i'm paying bills thru online banking). nakausap ko na kanina yung CS, 180k annually daw need to spend para mawaive annual fee, ang laki naman  :o yung 20-30k limit nga mgwwork na for me eh, mostly for personal stuff ko lang kasi.
ayaw nya din ako mgshop more card kc mas mababa daw yun.. hmmm pano ko ba siya mcconvince na ichange nalang yung binibigay na cc? hindi pa naman considered na sakin na yung gold card kc hindi ko pa tinatanggap and wala pang card, it was just a letter tapos ayaw ako payagan sa shop more??

Try mo kayang sort of i-threaten ang CS - that you will not accept the gold cards instead. Try telling him/her that you will get Shop More or just pass up the opportunity to get their gold CC.

Pero willing ka ba na walang CC just in case they do not really like you to get the Shop More card? Hehe.

Anyway meron pa naman ibang banks...

hay etoh might as well try this tutal waived naman yung first annual...
and I noticed mas mataas annual fee mas mbaba yung finance charge.. siguro nga it would make sense na dun nalang ako sa mataas na annual na malaki yung possibility mwaive kesa fc yung mlaki para just in case gamitin ko for emergency yung card hindi ganun kalaki fc ko.
nakakabother lang 2 cards namin, di ko talaga need yung isa eh, papapalitan ko nalang after a year :)
appreciate your inputs sisses!

If you are paying the bill in full on time always before the due date, then the finance charge doesn't matter. Kumbaga, what price you see on the item is what you pay.

For emergencies, it's not wise to use the CC or any other loan - dito nagsisimula ang pagkakalubog sa utang. Better raise an emergency fund for that.

Having high annual fees to pay doesn't always mean that there's a higher possibility to get it waived - baka mas mahirap pa yan. Mas favorable for waiving yung mga big spenders (that is why BDO imposes a minimum spend per year)  and/or those who hold several CCs with high credit limits from the other banks.

Payong kapatid. Wag mag-credit card if you don't intend to pay the full amount. It sounds like a lot of people treats credit card as extra money. If you still need a credit card for purchases, opt for the secured one.

^ Tama!

yes sis, I intend to pay in full talaga unless my bibilhin ako na 0% installment kaya nga gagamitin ko nalang to for groceries and bills para lang magkapoints eh. pag ayaw iwaive ipapacut ko, at least madali magpacut pag walang balance ;) and yes, dapat talaga my savings pa rin for emergency. credit cards should complement our lifestyle hindi yung tayo yung ngffollow.. that's exactly the reason why I initially opted for Shop More - madalas kasi ko mgSM and sayang discount/points.

ok lang ba while I have this card apply ako for Shop More?
(ayoko talga tigilan ang shop more hahaha)

Haha.

I could not see why not, but I am not sure - kasi tingin ko upgraded card na ang hawak mo. I'm not sure kung magiging shared ang limit sa gold card mo or separate.

Note, if you hold another card, that's another annual fee to waive and worry.

^ I don't worry much about shop more's annual fee kasi 75/month lang naman and iniisip ko, pag nakakuha ako ng 10% discount sa purchases ko mababawi ko din yun.
I'm not sure if I am understanding this right pro sabi sa site you get additional 10% discount if you shop on the 1st 2 hours on the 1st day of 3-day sale pero dapat yata maka5k..
