seriously, I'd rather choose to apply na lang directly to a bank, or in the case of Citibank and HSBC na walang branches dito outside of Manila - send the application directly sa offices nila or apply online sa website nila.

mga sis question, si bf meron BDO CC. 1st quarter next year baka mag abroad sya. pwede ba nya kong gawin supplementary?

anong card nya sis? i just requested for a supplementary card of BDO Shopmore Mastercard kahapon. they asked me to fill out a form with my and hubby's (sya ang primary card holder) signatures, and submit a photocopy of our IDs and the credit card.

here's where you can download the form.

https://www.clg.bdo.com.ph/bdo-theme/forms/credit-card/BDO_Supplementary_Form.pdf

i tried to fax mine dun sa number na indicated dyan. but it's not working so i went to the branch na lang. sila na ang nag-process. pwede ka din tumawag sa customer service for instructions.

Sis, you can just request over the phone para less hassle sa'yo.  Nagrequest ako ng supplementary card for my husband. Mine is the gold one.  Siguro mga after two weeks (or less?)  pinadala na sa house yung supplementary card ni husband.

What kind of error do you encounter, sis?  BDO Mastercard din ang CC ko, but so far, I didn't encounter any problems, whether for local or international purchases.

sis, i have a question, actually nangyari kasi ito sa friend ko na napaka naive about CC.

background:  nagaapply sya as nurse sa US, so nung nag apply sya ng visa, nagpasok mama and papa nya ng show money sa isang bank.  so, itong bank na ito, since nakita na malaki balance ng account nya, nagpadala ng activated CC worth 100k and credit line.  si friend, ayaw nya nung card at tinawagan nya ang bank na di nya tatanggapin and sinabi nya na paki delete na records nya sa CC na yun.  in other words, di nya ginamit, nakatabi lang sa kanya.  for some reason, naisip nyang ibalik through registered mail.  at syempre, along the way, nawala ang card, hindi bumalik sa bank.  after a month, may bill sya worth 70k.  yung kumuha ginamit ang card, nag shopping galore.  now, with all the interest, nasa 100k na ang utang nya.

-in other words, wala nang way para ma-trace sya ng bank

I think it's too late for @tpm225's friend to cut the credit card and report the fraudulent activity na rin. Damage has been done. Nasa huli ang pagsisi. Best not to make the situation worse.

I have this impression na collection agency na ang nangungulit sa kanya. Avoiding CC bills sa residence, change of landline number, cellphone, etc? Tama ba ako?

Yun nga lang kahit na aalis siya sa place of residence, yung mga kamag-anak naman nya ang kukulitin, or iha-harass.

I know my comment will not solve anything, but I just have to say na bakit naman hindi dineactivate ng bank yung credit card eh tumawag naman pala na hindi nya ia-avail. May we know which bank this is?

Even yung BPI cards (which I am using) are already activated pagkakuha sa courier.

I hate this practice, really. It would have been better kung i-activate ang card via phone or internet. Mas maganda ang ganitong arrangement. I will suggest this to the bank. I own another debit card (na based sa US) na via internet ang activation.

I've heard a lot of stories sa mga kababayans natin who were able to get out of the country, ran away from those kinds of debts and lived a happy life ever after outside of the country. Yep, definitely blacklisted na sila locally for being delinquent. Maybe for now makakatakas sya, since papunta naman siya ng US... but we don't know for sure in the future should our local banks decide to share credit history with other countries such as the US or if there will be new laws that will affect VISA applications or even not permit a person to get out of the country without settling down debts. Yun nga lang siguro it will take a matter of years or decades to implement this. Not now. The internet makes the world smaller everyday.

As far as I know, our own Citibank and HSBC already share credit histories to other countries where other Citibank or HSBC banks reside. Baka in the future ganyan na rin ang gawin ng ibang local banks natin - share credit histories with other countries, probably starting with the US.

Pray and hope rin na huwag ireport ng BDO ang problema nya sa mga US credit bureaus.

At bakit pre-activated ang card? That itself is dangerous enough. Pano kung nawala sa mail yung card? These banks will get sued if that happens abroad.

Dba, pag pre-activated card kailangan mo pa ipa-activate through phone bago mo magamit? Di pa kasi pwede gamitin if hindi activated.. I-validate pa kasi yan sa banko if sayo talaga yan credit card before nila ipa-activate yan.. Yan ang ginagawa ng BDO.

Sorry ha, pero ito ang pinaka-st*pid thing na narinig ko about credit cards - ibinalik ang credit card through mail. Bakit niya naisip ito? Nakakaloka!
