^she's 23 months right now but when we travel, she'll be 2.5 years old :)

I also want to bring (handcarry or checked in - whichever is allowed) a litre of milk... sana pwede. The only workaround I can come up with is to fill up several of her sippy cups with milk equaling a litre :-\

Why not buy single serving size packs. Not only would the airline not allow a one litre bottle/pack but there's also the risk of spillage. Plus the ice you would need to keep it cold. At least with single serve/tetrapack you can easily dispose after each feeding without the worry of spillage or spoilage.

i recently traveled new york-manila with my 16-month old. don't bring milk cartons in liters or gallons, instead buy the smaller ones available in packs of 12 or 18 (tetrapak kung tawagin sa atin). im not sure kung available sa canada ang horizon organic milk (or find something similar), but they last long even in room temp. yun ang dala ko.

nothing will prepare you for the long haul flight coz anything goes. in my case, hindi tinatablan ng benadryl or any form of anti-histamine ang baby ko (we tried 3 different types and nothing worked; nag-try kami months before traveling). just bring extra clothes for possible vomiting (for u and baby), etc and lots of milk and playtex bottles/drop-ins. have a safe flight!

8-10 hours on the road, i would think pwede pa yung insulated bag with ice gelpack. Depends on your ice gel pack, some can last 8-12hrs naman.. if you have space sa car, ok din naman yung ice chest/cooler with ice.

Re long-haul flight, i would think pwede naman i-check in ang fresh milk.

sorry sis... carry-on ang nasa isip hehe....

We're bringing her pillows and her massive Elmo stuffed toy pa na karay karay nya everywhere she goes, pati pag tulog kelangan katabi ;D

attach mo yung car seat nya sa carry-on baggage nyo.... parang ganito.... sayang naman yung paid seat ni LO if di magamit....

We're not bringing a litre of milk in just 1 tetra pack or bottle. Super hassle nyan to make sure it won't break or spill! We're already bringing a lot of things that my head is already swimming in a fog, so I won't add any more to the list of "stuff to worry about".

The airline said you can't take more than 1 litre of liquid and no more than 100mls in any one container. So you can take more than one container, as long as the total is equal or less than one litre. Since we're bringing in several of her sippy cups, might as well fill them up with milk.

bylan, I've seen that but no thanks. We're using FAA-approved child harness instead (CAReS is what they call it) from http://kidsflysafe.com/buy-now/. I really can't imagine bringing a car seat, plus her pram that we have to pack and unpack from its travel bag, plus her pillows and stuff toys that are too big to fit in anything, plus her nappy bag, PLUS 4 carry ons (mine, hubby's, daughter's and my mum's), and finally, my shoulder bag. My Mum can't do heavy lifting or pulling so really can't count on her to help with the luggages... all she can do is look after our daughter. Just thinking about the amount we're bringing makes me  :o

^ ganyan din yung gamit ng cousin ko for his toddler. And if above 2yrs old, di naman na required na naka car seat sa plane e, sa pagkakaalam ko.

Does CARES provide as much protection for my child as a car seat?

Yes. In rigorous dynamic tests conducted by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), CARES, restraint was certified as an ELOS – Equivalent Level of Safety –to a car seat. It is the only harness type child safety restraint that the FAA has certified.

^sure I'll update you!

Does CARES have an expiration date?

There is no expiration date for CARES. The webbing might need to be replaced if there were tears, cut or worn edges, and/or damaged stitching. However, even if CARES was used every day it would probably take years before you noticed this kind of excessive wear and tear.

after much consideration, deliberation and most importantly GUILT, we decided to just book economy fares for our family instead of business class. That time I was about to book our airfares, nagkataon I was also reading the news and ang dami daming nakaawa, mahihirap, may sakit na nasa news. Naiyak talaga ako :( Made me think "tapos ako eto pnproblema ko? If she'll sleep on the plane?" ::) get a grip, gumdrops!! (Thanks for that wake up call, God!)

upside is... we're traveling with my mum, F&MIL, hubby's grandmother, my SIL and hubby, my BIL, and my MIL's sister and brother in law... in short buong baranggay :P so we'll be fine, I'm sure! We traveled naman na kami lang ni hubby and DD, ok naman :D

first time ni DD to go on a long haul flight when we go to the US next year. She'll be 3 that time so hubby and I are hoping she's a bit easier to distract na on the plane. All rules are out of the window :P she can be on the ipad/tv for as long she wants basta magbehave sya. We're flying AirNZ from Australia to break up the flight duration a bit. If Melb kasi stopover namin, I think the flight to LAX would be 14-15 hrs. If Brisbane, a bit shorter. So we booked AirNZ para even shorter. I think 12 hours lang sya... a bit more manageable than 15 hrs :o

what I'm more worried about is the jetlag :-[ so reading a lot of articles on how to help toddlers cope with it

Flying with my 16 month old to the US in 2 weeks time. He has a solid routine/schedule so im really dreading the jetlag tapos no yaya pa, just me and hubby. From what i read, follow your schedule/routine when you reach your destination. Goodluck!

^ Where to?

How I wish I can manage next year without a yaya.  My husband's family wants to go to Galapagos.

Travelled with my husband and baby to Japan. Two weeks kami. Sa flight papunta, wala kami problem. Nakatulog naman sya. Or if hindi sya tulog, kain lang sya or read ng book. 5am departure namin. Kawawa din.. i let her latch pag ganun (i wore nursing-friendly top). Buti towards the latter half of the plane ride na lang yun.

Babywearing helped us a lot. We used our Tula, salitan kami ni hubby. Pag hindi crowded at hindi kami nagmamadali, we let her walk/run.

Kasi we made sure na hayaan namin si daughter magising on her own. Then paggising, me konting play time pa before we finally start preparing for our day. And kahit nasa labas kami, we always try to squeeze in a nap (or two) for her. Again, babywearing helped us kasi nakakatulog sya while being worn and comfy sya.

We used Playtex drop-ins so pag nasa labas we only brought 1 nurser, 2 teats, tapos drop-in liners na me fresh milk. If kinulang, madali lang to buy fresh milk sa convenience stores. Usually, pag inaantok tsaka pag snack time lang naman sya nagmi-milk. Meal times, kumakain naman sya ng maayos.

In less than 2 weeks, domestic trip naman kami. Medyo kakapagod lang talaga mag-travel with an active toddler, dagdag exercise, hehe.. tsaka kelangan kinda flexi ang itinerary, to suit toddler's mood + diaper changes, etc.

We have 6 weeks to go until our flight to Singapore (7ish hours), then to Manila (3-4 hrs). Arriving 11pm in Manila which is 1:30am our time. Heaven help us - daughter will be grumpy as hell for sure :-\

We're travelling with my parents' in law, grandma in law, sis in law+hubby, brother in law, cousin in law, my MIL's best friend, my mum and hubby. As in all in the same flight :o magkakatabi pa seats namin.

hayy... after this, I bet my MIL will be an expert na as to how our DD behaves on the plane :P never mind that I have travelled with S 4x more than her ;D

Bumyahe kami from HK to Manila  tapos road trip to Zambales then back to Makati then HK nung Christmas holidays. We took the last flight out of HK (10:25PM) kasi yun ang sleeping time ng 10-month-old baby ko. Okay siya! As in tulog siya the entire flight. I think latest flight na kukunin namin mga 7pm next time.

Haha hindi nagpatulog si baby until nag 3AM. puyat nanaman the next day.

Flight back to HK, we took the 7PM flight. I requested for window seat kaso wala na daw eh, binigyan kami ng option to upgrade at iwewaive daw yung saakin at si husband lang ang magbabayad. For US$15, sobrang sulit ng bayad namin kasi ang luwag! these were called "Choice Seats" on PAL, just behind the 1st class. Ayun we had so much area to play with our son while on the flight.

More tips when travelling, if possible, mag change nappies na sa airport instead of the plane kasi sobrang cramped daw. :)
