Tips for Traveling with Baby

Yes ako ang hilong hilo. Di ko malaman kung nasusuka ako or nagugutom sa hilo hahaha. Yun baby ko din kasi nung time na yun gusto pupunta sa gitnang part ng Innova or kaya naman sa papa niya na nasa passenger seat (katabi ng driver). My baby naman kasi is sanay sa byahe kaya di siya nahihilo. Although may 1 time na nahilo at nagsuka siya papunta ng Tagaytay, siguro nalamigan yun tiyan or something.

Sana masanay din sa byahe baby ko. Hubby kase takot itravel si baby kaya wala pa kame napupuntahan malayo. Maganda sigurong magstart na ko ngayon para ready na sya by the time na 1 yr old na.

Kung hindi sanay sis baka mabigla sa 8-hour drive. In my experience kasi, almost every weekend kung saan saan kami nakakarating, minsan malapit lang like Alabang, we are from Las Pinas, minsan malayo like Imus, Tagaytay, Laguna, Subic, Before siya nag Baguio, nag Zambales muna siya at 4 months or 6 months ata. Ang baby ko nga nakarating na in all 4 International Terminals dito sa Manila, ako isa pa lang haha ganun siya kasanay sa biyahe at traffic.

gala pala si baby mo sis.. hehe. ako ngayon pa lang namin siya simulan ipasyal. She's 6 months now. pinakamalayong napuntahan nya so far is MOA, we're from muntinlupa. ok naman siya nung byahe. may onting tantrums pero manageable.

mommies na may lo below 1 year old, binilhan nyo pa ba sila ng car seat na pang newborn? my lo is 6 months na and super bigat (he's 9.5kgs na) and nakakapagod na kargahin siya lalo na kung 2 to 3 hours drive. advisable pa bang bilhan siya ng car seat or tyagain ko nalang until pwede na siya sa toddler seat?

Buy a convertible car seat. Yung akin 4-70lbs ang pwede. And sinanay namin talaga baby ko na naka car seat. Minsan may crying moments parin siya lalo na if over 1 hours drive na.

I'm actually surprised na hindi uso sa Pilipinas ang car seat for babies and toddlers eh. Samantalang in other countries, it is required by LAW, at huhulihin ang driver + multa kung walang car seat yung bata. It makes sense to have a car seat, kasi hindi comfortable for baby at sa nagkakarga. Lalo pa pag stuck sa traffic ang sasakyan. Plus of course, the first and foremost reason why every one should have a car seat: your child's safety!

Kami din, sinanay si baby sa carseat. Me mga iyak moments din, lalo't rear-facing pa sya til now. Naiinis sya pag medyo matagal naka-stop sa traffic light. When we went to Baguio, natulog lang sya sa carseat most of the travel time kaya no stress din sa amin. When we stopped for wiwi break, gising sya nung one time so we took her out of the carseat para maka-stretch din sya. Balik din pag-alis ng stopover.

we're going to Manila early next year and I'm not sure if we should buy or rent a car seat we're renting a condo in Makati and then in BGC because we'd frequent that area lang naman so sandali lang byahe if ever.

I don't want our daughter to get used to sitting on my lap. Paguwi namin, baka WW3 pag inupo na sya sa carseat nya dito

Safer for your kid sis though for me, the baby sits on my lap nalang or sa yaya ayaw niya kasi talaga kahit sa stroller, ayaw niya matagal.

^^I am not sure if you would be able to buy a car seat sa Pilipinas na reasonable ang price, kasi nga hindi sya ganun ka common. If you have relatives there, baka meron silang pwedeng hiraman, but kung wala, maybe ngayon pa lang maghanap ka na ng re-sellers na pwedeng mabilihan ng car seat.

I bought a rear facing car seat and a toddler car seat and brought them home to Manila to use while we're there. I think I got really lucky with both and I've left them at our relative's house for us to use whenever we're in town.

Since next year ka pa naman mag ttravel, why don't you try to find a cheap car seat that you can bring along to Manila and iwanan nalang dun after? You can even try to find a second hand one if you're not too fussy, just make sure that you wash the cover and disinfect prior to your trip to Manila.

So far, nung kami almost whole day on the road. Baon naming fresh milk: 1 sa straw cup/bottle, then me extra kami 2 small tetra packs (250ml each yata yun) pang-refill na nakalagay sa small insulated bag with ice gel pack.

thanks sis! mga 8-10 hrs on the road.... ok din ba insulated bag? or yung cooler then lagyan ng ice???

also, I was thinking of flying Toronto-Manila... around 24 hours and byahe.... pwede kaya check-in yung 1 liter of fresh milk, then sa insulated bag with ice??? thanks!

^she's 23 months right now but when we travel, she'll be 2.5 years old

I also want to bring (handcarry or checked in - whichever is allowed) a litre of milk... sana pwede. The only workaround I can come up with is to fill up several of her sippy cups with milk equaling a litre

^sis di ba pag 2 years na si baby required na sila ibili ng seat sa plane??? suggest dalhin mo na lang yung car seat nyo then install nyo sa seat ni baby sa plane... yun na rin gamitin nyo while nasa Manila kayo....

^yes required na... ang hassle lang kasi ang daming bitbit... super stressful! We're bringing her pillows and her massive Elmo stuffed toy pa na karay karay nya everywhere she goes, pati pag tulog kelangan katabi

8-10 hours on the road, i would think pwede pa yung insulated bag with ice gelpack. Depends on your ice gel pack, some can last 8-12hrs naman.. if you have space sa car, ok din naman yung ice chest/cooler with ice.

Re long-haul flight, i would think pwede naman i-check in ang fresh milk. Risk lang na baka pumutok sa pressure, at kumalat sa loob ng luggage mo.. hindi ba available sa Manila yung usual brand ng fresh milk ni baby mo? Baka naman available dito, wag ka na magbaon sa check-in..
