my son is super gulo pa naman mag sleep. Like sometimes he even sits down, roll around etc while sleeping (changing positions). I dunno how we'll manage a long haul. But we're booked already for the states and I am hoping it wont be as bad.

anyone tried benadryl or virlix on a long haul flight?

^ my Tita suggests na mag-business class kami if matuloy kami US next year, para at least daw me bed si baby at mas may space to move around. And we're thinking of taking MIL din para at least me makatulong sa pag-alaga..

Bahala na. We'll check our budget din muna, ang mahal if business class kaming 4. Unless me magpromo soon.. And we'll consider the logistics when in the US (like car rentals, carseats, domestic travels if any, etc). Last year, 3 lang kami ni MIL and husband bumyahe, super-packed yung SUV car rental namin so pano pa kung me carseat and all. Baka kelangan van na, haha! Pag naoverwhelm ako, we might postpone long-haul trip muna for when baby's older.

Good luck talaga to us! 😄  we are also going to the US in November for a month.  With hubby and my 2 boys (would be 3yr old and 20mos that time). And hoping that I won't regret booking our flight via CX instead of PR. Hay.. I remember when my eldest son was just 1yr when we brought him to the US but I was also 5 mos pregnant that time. Ang Hirap Hirap talaga..

@vain_kixie, sis I got my pedia's ok with Benadryl last time we went to US with my eldest but I dont remember it being effective haha.. Don't know why. We took Delta and it was a day time flight so maybe that's why he was so wide awake.

my daughter, who was 5 months old when we first traveled, had really bad eczema so she was always very itchy, allll the time. Our flight was ADL to SIN, na thankfully natulog lang sya the whole time (in my arms). Ayaw nya magpababa sa bassinet at all. Pero ok lang, at least tulog. We bought Benadryl just in case but didn't end up using it. We had a long layover in Changi so we got a room in their transit hotel to sleep in for the rest of the night. Our next flight to MNL was at 9am so we were refreshed and ready to go by then. Pauwi kami was a red eye flight. Ayaw rin nya magpababa at all so puyat kami ni hubs.

Our second trip naman, she was 15 months old, we traveled ADL to SIN, then SIN to HKT. She slept in her bassinet which was a relief! This was easier na for us because she was already sleeping on her own unlike the first time. Pauwi was also easy.

our next trip will be in Feb, and she'll be 2.5 years old by then. The flight to MNL, I'm not worried about because we're sleeping in Singapore overnight. It's the flight back to ADL ang anxious ako. Kasi di ko alam kung pano sya matutulog ng nakaupo lang eh she lovveesss her bed and pillows!

Definitely, US will be our first place to visit when our youngest turns 3. And we only have one daughter right now ;D so I dont know kami makatravel ng long haul. Basta si bunso, kelangan at least 3 nun. Or else, I know di kami mageenjoy.

yes, 3 or 4 medyo ok na i-travel. As long as they can already walk, or when they're most likely potty-trained na, so no need to bring lots of diapers, or when they can drink milk from a cup na, so no need to bring bottles...pwede nga din fresh milk eh so no need to bring powdered milk at timpla timpla pa.
And at that age they're less fussy na and you can explain what's happening (in the plane or wherever you're going), naaaliw na rin sila bigyan mo lang something na pagkaabalahan like books, papers, crayons, toys, etc

Good luck on your travels with your youngsters...it'll get better don't you worry! they grow up so fast before you know it they'll be pulling their own luggage na ;)

I can only imagine na if i bring the baby now, sobrang gulo na niya for sure.  During our hk flight, the baby just slept papunta and pauwi.

If you have more than one luggage, pwede mo paghiwalayin, para in case me mawala or maiwan na luggage e meron ka pa matirang water.

Were going to Australia as he turns 1. 8 hours flight din yun.

Question, pwede ba na i buy a seat for him (infant on car seat) pero i wont bring a car seat and on take off and landing eh infant on lap siya? Para lang may extra space/seat kami.

on our next trip, ADL-MNL, economy kami papunta sa Manila pero maututlog kami sa airport hotel. Our flight is during the morning so baby can just play and maybe siesta for an hour.

Our dilemma is the flight back to ADL kasi red eye flight (almost 12mn ang alis sa Singapore). So we decided, on this leg of our trip, mag business class na para kay baby. Ayaw namin sya mahirapan, at ayaw rin namin mahirapan shempre! I just don't know yet kung anong airline kami... singapore airlines, cathay or emirates

Priceless

^^You can check with the airlines or ticketing office mismo, because if you buy tickets online, some airlines will automatically prompt the fare for infants (less than 2 years of age) which means that they don't get a seat.

^Kung limited ang budget, I suggest that kahit 1 biz class seat lang ang bilhin, take turns nalang to sleep beside baby lalo kung flat beds ang available. You should also consider quantas, sometimes the fares are really value for money. Take note lang na most airlines, the child fare is about 50%-75% of the full fare (2-11 years old).

We usually choose flights that are closest to my son's usual sleeping schedule. Not that it makes any difference kasi I think he is very much like his father na pa-taxi pa lang ang eroplano, tulog na kaagad. Then he just wakes up pag eating time na.

^we need to buy one business class seat for her too kasi she's gonna be older than 2 when we travel. And we're not sure if papayagan ang economy class passenger to go to the business class area. So we thought, fine. Tayong 3 na!

Priceless

^That's great. I actually think that if traveling with baby especially kung long haul, talagang i-push ang business class, kasi the space and the ability to lie the bed flat para makatulog si baby nang maayos is really worth it. Although now that my son is more than 2 years old, I think mababawasan ang aming long haul trips, lalo na we have to pay a lot na for his ticket.  Sa domestic or short haul (i.e. less than 6 hours), pwede na magtiyaga si baby ng economy, minsan mas makakatipid din kung budget airline.

Try to look into PAL din, dunno kung may direct flights sila to Australia, but it might save you some $$$  and time din. I doubt kung lie flats na ang biz class nila (last time I took them hindi pa), pero at least may space pa rin.

^I also think the lie flat bed is worth paying extra :) kasi IMO, holiday yun, so as much as possible, we don't want to get stressed. And if our daughter is stressed, shempre kami rin. Pero pag red eye... ay nako, the bubby lovers her sleep as much as I do. Kawawa si hubby pag 2 kaming nagtatantrum dahil gutom or di makatulog haha!

I checked PAL too, mas mura sya (4k AUD MLA to MEL for us 3) pero I don't like the seats. Singapore I think merong promo cuz I checked and 7.1k AUD na lang yung MLA to ADL flight nila... compared to Emirates 7k AUD but only from SIN to ADL.

We're planning on a road trip by the time my baby turns 1, mga 8hr drive. any tips? worried ako baka di namin kayanin kase unlike sa plane pwede maglalakad-lakad si baby pag nabore, pag sa car pag may stopover lang makakapagstretch. kakayanin na ba ng 1yr old baby ang ganitong trip?

Sis if possible sa gabi kayo mag byahe para sleep lang siya most of the time. He was 1 lang din nung time na yun.
