second week ko na and di pa din ako nag ppeel. SIguro manipis na skin ko kasi i've had 3 sessions of TCA na eh.

Wala din akong purging. So I dunno if this really works. How long kaya bago makita yung result?

^ ok lang naman sis kahit nasa bahay naka sunblock same as ruffa at claudine kahit nasa bahay naka sunblock din sila sis, kc yung ilaw, oven, computer at yung lutuan nakakasira din ng skin yun kapag nadadarang ka sa init eh and like other celebrity they use sunblock din sa bahay makinis ang skin nila and effective naman sya kc my skin looks good din naman so for me is o.k lang naman sya.

^agree. may incidental UV exposure din from lights and computers, not to mention from light seeping through the windows. Although yung wavelengths naman from computers and lights very minimal lang, it doesnt hurt to be safe :) and the skin needing to breathe is a myth. It only needs rest from using too many actives that can irritate your skin, pero kung ok naman regimen mo, consistency is key.

^depende sa formulation ng sunscreen. Usually chemical sunscreens can last for a max of 2 hours, after which you have to reapply or mas todo damage kesa not having used sunscreen at all. For physical sunscreens naman, pwede na one application lang, basta hindi ka naman in full sun exposure, pag nasa beach or outdoors, apply every 2 hours to be safe.

ako I have 3 kinds of sunblock pag sa loob lang ng bahay I use spf25  enough for me for the whole day then pag lalabas na iba naman gamit ko I use spf 50 +++ then sa body naman iba din so 3 gamit ko, maarte kc ako sa mga sunblock hehe  ;D    at may nabasa ako sa isang magazine ba yun( japan )  that they don't use beach sunblock sa for everyday daw kc madami syang oil para mag stay sa skin during activities sa water kaya mga suncreen ko din hindi pang beach since hindi naman ako nag pupunta beach.

^^ True. That's why I prefer sunscreens may physical blockers (i.e., zinc oxide and titanium dioxide)

I don't find it practicable to reapply sunscreen every few hours kung wala naman sa beach.  Sobrang kakapal ang mukha ko literally.

^sa ingredients sis - usually physical sunscreens have a combination of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide or one of each as the active ingredient. Chemical naman has avobenzone and a bunch of other ingredients to keep it stable. It gets kinda complicated actually, if you want to know more about sunscreens, you can google info on sunscreen stability, etc.

^^ chemical sunscreen - a term they use to refer to sun protection ingredients that absorb UV rays. chemical sunscreen usually degrade over time upon exposure to air and/ or sunlight, that's why you have to re-apply. Upside is, most chemical sunscreens does not give the skin a white cast.

physical sun protection ingredients (sunblock) - are ingredients that reflect uv rays (as opposed to absorbing them). they don't degrade under the sun, particularly zinc oxide (titanium dioxided degrades but only a little). There are only 2 of them zinc oxide and titainium dioxided. If it stays put, there's no need to reapply. But if you're on the beach or in a non-airconditioned environment, it might be removed by sweat or water (i.e., swimming). Downside, since it reflects UV rays, you can get a whitecast.

Note: A sun protection product can contain both chemical and physical sun protection ingredients.

For more info, there's loads of available articles on the net.

hi guys! i read in this thread that 2x tretinoin use is recommended for first time users. is it okay if i start at once a week? my first and only application of 0.025% tret was last sunday and up to now i still experience minor peeling and skin tightness. last monday din medyo namula/nagdarken skin ko. i really don't want to experience the ugly stage of tret. my derma only gave me tret to decrease pore appearance. may effect pa kaya tret even if once a week na lang? she also gave me obagi melamix, hydroquinone for sun spots. after reading articles online, ayaw ko talaga masyado pagsabayin tret and hydroquinone. i was instructed to apply both on my whole face, not just on affected areas but right now sa dark spots ko na lang nilalagay melamix kasi nga ang dry pa rin ng skin ko. to combat dryness, i use moisturizer din. i feel the tightness lang after washing my face.

what do you think guys? thanks!

Has anyone experienced the same?

@rowan and @mhing_myaw - better not to use tret than to just it once a week. The most you can go by is two nights off tret, tapos back to tret on the third night. Tret works by irritating the skin to force it to produce collagen for repair. If there's too much rest period, the skin reverts back to its original state. Studies have shown na stopping tret also reverses its effects, yan ang isa sa mga disadvantages niya.

Ok to use tret 2x per day as part of a very aggressive regimen, you actually get faster results, but chances are you'll be red and peeling for the first two to three months. If you can afford the downtime, go for it, if not, stick to the more gentle approach to avoid further irritation. In any case, use of sun protection is imperative as tret increases the skin's sensitivity to the sun, making it more prone to sun damage.

And it is ok to use tret on the eye area, just use with caution - apply sparingly or mix with your bland moisturizer. 3x a week is enough. Research and don't believe everything your derm tells you. Local derms are known to prescribe prolonged use of hydroquinone and careless prescription of oral isotretinoin without the necessary bloodwork usually required.
