How do I find the right product to use since I am a new user of tret pala? Help!  :(

For tret use, I generally advice to consult with a dermatologist, to help you create a regimen specifically customized for your skintype. Wala kasing single effective formula that's effective for everyone. But if you're really eager to use tret without professional help, then just go slow:

AM
Physiogel/Cetaphi Cleanser/Dove white soap
Physiogel/Cetaphil moisturizer/something similar - if needed
SPF30 sunscreen or higher

PM
Makeup Remover
Physiogel/Cetaphi Cleanser/Dove white soap
0.025% tretinoin, use every other 2 nights, alternate with moisturizer
*Apply Physiogel/Cetaphil moisturizer/something similar - if needed, after 20-30 minutes of applying tret

You can also use the moisturizer before applying tret to further buffer or if very sensitive ang skin mo.
You can adjust tret use to every other day to daily, depending on your skin's reaction, after at least 2-3 weeks of use. Moisturizer use also depends on your skin type and your skin's reaction to tret, basically it minimizes the irritation and it's efficacy na din. So if your skin is very tolerant, you can do away with moisturizer.

I say go slow kasi tret can be very irritating and the irritation is usually a lot harder to reverse and uglier than the original problem you were trying to treat. A few people I've known have also sworn of tret completely because of this.

eleynskii, yan ba yung parang toner na nasa blue bottle? Yan ata yung pinakamababang percentage, it's only 0.01% -- maybe ok sya sa mga nagsisimula, kaso as far as I know, tretinoin is best in an airtight container kasi it breaks down upon exposure to air and UV rays. Kaya most tretinoin creams are packaged in tubes.

When I bought 0.025% Derm A na nasa tube, na shock ako on my first squeeze of the  tube, parang half nung tube puro hangin. What gives?!?! Uubusin ko pa din sya but I won't buy it again.

Finally, nakabili na din ako ng tret Derm A 0.025%. May kasama syang moisutizer ata yun with spf15 use it daw every morning.
Pwede bang yun na lang gamitin as sunblock or kailangan talagang spf30 ang sunblock??

In my own experience mas nagkaroon ako ng irritation with Differin than tretinoin... I switched na to Tret and no purging,irritation..dryness during those cold days lang (ex. December) very mild and occasional peeling pero rare...
It helped clear out my pores, but I stop using tret pag 3-4 days prior to diamond peel,I noticed those rest days from tret nagkakaroon ako ng whiteheads.. Natatanggal nadin naman pag nakapagpa facial na... Tret really helped with the breakouts from differin...and combined with regular diamond peel and facial umaayos na skin condition ko, a lot better than a month ago..the acne marks konti na lang, yey! And hindi na rin depressing applying concealer! Hehe.. Wont stop using Tret na... :)

Retin-A is a kind of tretinoin right?

I started using that one about 4 nights ago eh. How long before I can see the results?

I have open pores all over my skin eh.

Hi sis!  I started with Derm-A .05% last december then I switched to Stieva-A .1% nung feb.same effect naman both saken... :). Ubusin ko lang 'tong Stieva-A then Ill switch na to a lower dose for maintainance..
Yung Derm-A 20gms saken lasts for about 3-months w/nigthly use, yung stieva-A 25gms I have been using for 3 months na,now half full pa yung tube..

Agree. Close na lang ang windows and curtains to block light. Kahit na minimal UV Exposure lang sa artificial lights, baka maka-affect pa din sa effectivity ng tret.

huh? wait are we suppose to apply it right before we sleep? kasi sabi lang ng derma ko, "at night"... and i apply it around 2-3 hours before lights off....?

^I agree din na those using the tret+hq combo should stop every few months.. Personally, i rest after 3 months of continued use, kahit anong sabi ng derma. I've asked a derma who advised continued use of the combo as maintenance and sabi niya limited lang naman daw cases of side effects but I've read about the side effects and nakaka-praning din, better to be safe na lang.

anong side effects? also, so it is possible to use retin-a alone without hydroquinone? My derma instructed to mix pea size of these two and apply every night eh.

Im using tret from my derma pero i only use it 2x a week nalang for maintenance. It really helped clear my skin kasi last year dami ko talaga breakouts because of stress.
Heres my daily routine

AM
Celeteque facial wash
Celeteque alcohol free toner
Clindamycin lotion 2% from derma
Dr. Jart BB cream spf 36 - as my sunblock and moisturiser. My derma advised me not to use moisturiser kasi mainit na daw at nakakablock ng pores.

PM
Makeup remover
Celeteque facial wash or Cetaphil pag may peeling
Ceteteque alcohol free toner or eskinol cucumber pag di ako naglalagay ng tret
Clindamycin lotion 2% from derma
Eye cream
Tretinion cream from derma
Illumenence cream from derma

Question: is it safe to use tretinoin on the undereyes? may wrinkles na kasi ako :(

@oshiawase:

how long before you can see results? based on articles and based on what people said in the previous 4 tretinoin threads that came before this one, you'd have to use it for at least 3 months to see visible results.

On pore size:
Tretinoin did not help me significantly.

Can you expect purging soon? Based on what GTers mentioned in previous posts, you will purge if you have pimples to purge.

Are we supposed to apply it right before lights off? Ideally, yes. Because artificial light has UV rays too. Only not as much as the sun. So if you're really conservative and you want to get the most out of tretinoin, you might want to do that. In my case though, as long as I put it at night, I'm good.

Hydroquinone side effect: Google ochronosis. Yes it is possible to use tretinoin without hq. Your derm probably prescribed to mix the two either because you have dark marks/ uneven skin tone or you mentioned that you want lighter skin.

@eleynskii, other toner-like tretinoin formulations: vmv superskin toner (but this one has clindamycin phosphate in it.

maxi-peel, rdl, baby skin (but these ones have hq naman).

^ super thank you sa informative reply! :)

That means, we are obliged to use sunblock everyday even if we are staying home as long as we are on tret because of UV rays?

thanks girls and guys! :)
