All about making CAKEPOPS (share tips and recipes)
« on: October 03, 2012, 09:57:19 pm »
Hi All,

Been trying to look for this specific thread since I can't find one, I'm starting this thread.

I started making cake pops when I saw a demo on how to do this and it was a no bake one so I tried and I enjoyed making them. It's so easy. Then there was once I brought it as a gift and they liked it. It from I here I got my first order though I really don't ask for pay (I was said I can make it as a gift or just for the ingredients then) but he insisted. He ask if I can make cloud cakepops. I couldn't commit coz I really don't have any idea how until I i red from a blogger who gave me idea.

Cakepops can be make my using a moulder or cookie cutters. I am not a professional. Just a hobby I guess. I only do this by moods. And whenever I start one, nobody can stop me even if it will consume my time. That's the way I started to explore it.

Here's a few I made. :-)

very nice cake pops! i hope i can do more of these. I made some for my little girl's party last month. It was just simple round pops. wala na kasi akong panahon to make them into animals (which was the party's theme).

Here's a photo of it.

^ i've seen these molds in the baking supplies store. nice idea for those who don't want to risk about having their pops drop off the sticks.

You can look for any good white chocolate brand in baking supplies store. Madami naman sa Manila eh. there's a lot in QC, meron din sa quiapo, Mandaluyong and pasig. try nyo mag search online for those stores. You can ask the person in charge which chocolate brand they can recommend for cake pops. Kasi yung ibang compound chocolate di maganda mag melt, di smooth.  :) you can melt the white chocolate then just add food color.

^ yeah, i agree wi that. If no experience pa from here, you can start making pops by using the no bake cake pop recipe. Any desidred cookies, crushed it then add fristing or creamcheese to bind, fridge for 10-15 mins then insert the lolly sticks and rady to dip na. F

^ iba iba naman kasi components ng chocolate bars. one lesson I learned is that you cannot use one bar for everything (ganache, mixing for baking bars, etc.) because every bar has a different fat content, amount of cocoa butter and etc. so better to ask the staff which chocolate bar would they recommend for you to use. :)

I make these too, on whatever 'spare time' I can find before an ocassion. I baked normal sponge cakes (2 8 " round ones, vanilla flavor). I let them cool then used my food processor to blitz it. Here in Australia I use what's called CANDY MELTS (2 varieties-white and brown), I can't say they're chocolate, they melt easier than chocolate eh.It's made by Nestle. for frosting I used Duncan Hines na ready-made frosting. I really don't wanna use it again kasi super tamis! good thing yung candy melts hindi matamis. Each stick can sell 3 dollars apiece here ( an liit at ampangit nung benta dito sa David Jones cafe, 2.50 agad!) I made simple ones, round ones with hundreds and thousands for the white and coconut flakes (my hubby's fave) for the brown ones. Unfortunately may mga palpak naging cake balls, nilagay ko na lang sa paper patty cups (like for cupcakes only smaller). Wala ako mahanapan ng edible ink dito to make "faces" so I ordered molds and edible pen markers from Amazon. Hindi ko pa lang din na ta-try.
My hubby's boss  and co workers love eating them and lagi naka-abang for my "experiments" hehe.

sayang, i can't view your pics. anyway, diba wilton ang candy melts?  :) and i guess you can adjust the quantity of frosting you put para di masyado matamis yung cake pops mo. :)

you make this look easy! i made these and failed

i was just testing them, so i bought a pack of cupcakes and just crumbled that up -- too lazy too even bother with baking.

i managed to get a couple of good pops out of it, but there were some that just fell apart. i think its because i mixed in a bit of milk with the ganache i made for the frosting, so the cake became too moist and heavy?

i put them in the fridge to harden up, but i didn't make them into tight balls, so those that were too loose fell apart in the chocolate, and when i started making the balls tighter, they've melted already, so the chocolate took a while to harden and they slid off the stick. i had to put them back into the fridge. second batch was way better.

making another batch this week for my niece's birthday. hopefully i get it right this time.  :P

it could be that your cake was too moist, thus the sliding off the sticks. i've also read that if the balls are too cold before coating, it could also cause for the chocolate to crack and slide off (which happened to me).

Gumagawa ako cake balls pag may free time ako. I have a post in my blog on how i make them.

If youre planning to make these as giveaways, it is recommended that you make them a night before. If you will try to store the balls inside the fridge for days and you will serve them, mag sweat yung chocolate, mag mo moist. kapag naman may nilagay kang white lollipop sticks na paper, magkakaron ng brown stain yung bandang ilalim na pinagtusukan. maganda kapag plastic sticks.

To those asking, here it is

Try no bake cakepops and use any cookies. For example:

300g oreo cookies
250g creamcheese room temperature
Candy melts (meron sa chocolate lovers i think and another in fb who sells online)
Lolly sticks

How to make:
Crush the oreo using rolling pin in the ziplock bag or use food processor
Mix the creamcheese (cut into small cube for easy mixture in oreo) -
Mould into desired shape. U can use cookie cutter if you want
Place them in the fridge for 15 mins

For dipping, melts candy melts evry 10-20 secs and stir. Continue til it totally melts. You can use candy melts and color them using powdered or gel coloring. I recommend americolor. Other option is wilton

Dip lolly stick abt half inch then insert in the cakeball. Then dip the cakeball in candy melts and sprinkle them with desired sprinkles.

To avoid thickness of coating in the cakepops, add shorthening in the candymelts. Mas madali kainin ng kids kasi di makapal ang coating.

@ lakwatsa, di nilalagyan ng butter chocolate melts. I agree with sia kookie420.
Iba ina kasi sila ng component.

@bluegintonic, san ka sa auatralia. No need to buy in amazon. Meron online sa aus madami and aa shop na wheel and barrow sa malls. I think abt $7 for 35 pcs lolly sticks. Me nabibilhan ako lolly sticks wilton brand for $4.95 35 pcs na.
