subscribing to this thread. I try to fit everything in a backpack. naglalaba ako minsan sa hotel then dinadry ko using towel(to absorb water), tapos sampay then tuyo na the next day.

what about GT couchsurfing group, is there any here?

i'm mostly traveling overseas... so i can give some inputs on budget travels in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Morocco, Oman, India, UAE... For hotels, hostels I use Agoda.com, Hostelworld.com and tried couchsurfing too... for flights, I use Expedia, Makemytrip to compare fares but usually buy from direct websites, cheaper pa din... 

then i read travel blogs for food, itinerary suggestions... i used to have a travel blog din kaso wala nang time to update kaya nag lapse na ang hosting at domain...

first time ko pala to travel solo in Morocco last month... super liberating at daming na meet travel buddies...

Excuse my ignorance, pero ano ba ang usual na age range ng mga backpackers nowadays? A lot of them are solo travelers din, 'no? Always wanted to try solo backpacking kahit locally lang but am still too chicken and/or paranoid to actually go through with it.

in my opinion wala naman age limit.. as long as kaya mo pa and you really want to

most ng mga kakilala ko, 20s-30s. pero meron ding husband-wife na 40s-50s na.

I wanted to do backpacking in Indochina.. pero on hold for now. hehe

my friends and I went to Cambodia and Thailand last July, DIY Itinerary, no tour packages, got hostels for accom. Biked from SiemReap to Angkor Complex! Was a lot of fun!

I usually use Booking.com or Agoda for Hotels (whichever is cheaper after taxes&SC), then hostelworld for hostel/dorms.

I reseaaarch a lot. may pagkaOC haha, read reviews and tips, subscribe to travel bloggers.. mas nakakainspire mag travel when you read stories from others. nakaka-kati ng paa haha!

Sama ako sa backpacking group ah ive tried solo backpacking.. id like to try it with new friends
Madali lang naman magbackpack just remember to leave half of the things you initially packed and bring twice of your initial budget

Hi, sis! I did backpack around Europe in 2013 (solo) and again last year with my siblings. Kayang-kaya naman. Tipid pa! At advocate din ako ng DIY travel (though I have nothing against those who subscribe to packaged tours). When we were in Paris, we were able to see the Eiffel Tower in the morning, in high noon, and at night where it is in its most beautiful. This is where doing it on your own has an advantage - you have all the time in the world to schedule your visit.

^wow that's great! just wondering pano makakapunta sa heart of the city coming from airport? worry ko kasi baka pag nag euro trip ako tas gabi ang arrival ko, wala ng buses or transpo to get you to the city. ayoko sana magcab kasi baka super mahal lalo pa't di naman consistent na malapit ang airport sa city. TIA

^Choose an airline that arrives in your destination early in the morning (kahit na hindi 'yun ang pinakamura). That's what I usually do. Para makapagcheck-in ka before noon (or maiwan mo 'yung luggage mo sa storage room ng hotel) at makapag-ikot-ikot ka na. Hindi practical na pumili ng gabi ang arrival ng plane kasi baka nga limited yung transportation out of the airport at saka added gastos yun sa hotel mo.

^it depends on where in europe you'll be backpacking, but train service there is efficient. I relied heavily on it. Im excited for you

^thanks sis! ill be travelling around, paris-barcelona-rome-venice-athens. i pray na sana hindi ako mahirapan magcommute. dapat sana madrid ang spain destination ko kaso parang ang complicated ng madrid kesa barcelona kaya hindi ko na lang pinili ang madrid. huhu...
