when I was studying, I worked sa hospitality industry, then got promoted to Asst Manager, then Manager... all that time, i was still looking for an IT job tapos I started off as a Service Desk Analyst, then naging Senior Analyst, then naging Coordinator. Ngayon, napromote ulit ako. My HP stint (my first ever IT job), nagwork lang ako nun for 2.75 yrs. Tapos I moved here na sa current company ko. 2 yrs and 8 months na ako dito currently and have been promoted 3 times.

Work hard with quality. Anyone can do work but only a few can work with quality. It pays off and you will get recognised

I was sharing in a different thread nga na finding job pala in Aussie is a challenge. My bf who stayed in Canada for quite sometime is now in SYD and medyo hirap makahanap ng work. Tried searching sa SEEK pero wala pa rin. Parang masyadong mailap yung chances. Anyway. 5 months pa lang naman sya and he has until December before maexpire ulit yung visa kaya hanap hanap pa rin...Ask ko na lang din, mostly sa SEEK lang ba yung parang jobsite nila? (jobstreet sa atin)

Pahirap na ng pahirap ang maghanap ng work nowadays, especially kung ang  dami na ng migrants, tapos yung dami ng work di nman ganun din kabilis ang paglaki. Gaya nga ng payo ng iba, kung wala ka ng budget, kahit anong work subukan mo. Malay mo it will lead to somewhere.

^berrycherry...I'm not in IT industry but best way to check are the job websites. Flag IT and Inner City/Melbourne then monitor it daily. Pag mga recruiting company lagi nakikita mo ,baka di talaga ganun karami.

6 weeks before the big move to the land down under and I am trying my best not to read depressing job hunting experiences from fellow pinoys sa mga forums. Haha! ang akin kasi if I feed myself with negative news lalo lang ako madi-discourage. I personally know someone who found a job in 2 weeks, she is in the IT field although ang role nya is lower than her last job in PH, same kami ng skill but different domain so yun na lang lagi ko iniisip para ma-inspire. I am open to do casual/odd jobs din while waiting for a "real" job offer, mas okay na din yung may kinikita kesa nasa bahay lang ako.

really interested in moving to Australia but got scared din of stories in forums na mahirap nga daw makakita ng job. i guess with hard work and some luck, one can find a job naman so i think i just need to get enough courage (and savings) to do the big move

Here in Melbourne. Mahirap daw makahanap ng work sa IT. I know someone 8 months na dito wala pa din work. Pero depende pa din sa skills + luck yan. Kung impressive talaga CV and interview, di ka na papakawalan ng employer.

galing kang pinas, 5 years sa P&G kunwari. talagang may papansin sa iyo. pano pa kaya kung 10 years ka. baka pag agawan ka pa. but that is more of the exception. hindi para sa majority.

the problem is kasi, are the laws in australia. employers need to comply to certain laws pag dating sa training. ayaw nila gumastos. better invest in someone with experience and hack it out sa sweldo.

unemployed rate for below 30 years of age is 11.5 percent. official yan. wala pa yung un official or those who lied sa survey.

recently may nakausap akong kid, galit na galit kay abbott. pano konti ang internships, arte ng employers.  check out brotherhood of st. laurence. may findings sila diyan. tapos kung ano anong cuts pa ginawa ni abbott when he promised na hindi siya mag cucut.

but bottomline is, regardless of the s**t you hear. you have to do something.

grabe. dami ko nang nakikita na nagkakatrabaho dahil sa contacts, mas pinipili yung walang experience kesa meron. broken english over dun sa mahusay. my dad in his old job manages one big operation and his boss was LAGING WALA. when his boss finally got pirated by another company, hindi napromote tatay ko when he was next in line. i heard him over the phone talking to his boss's boss, "i've been running this for so long in his place, why not me?"

dad was so pissed he left later. got a better job. irony is, after he left, takbo pa sa kanya yung company to ask for help. it took my dad 2 years din to find his next job... just like the other person i mentioned. kelangan lang talaga. focused. bilib sa sarili. marami kasi sa pinoy kasi mapaghusga at mapagmata.

savings, important yan. kasi kanya kanya dito. pera mo, pera ko. you need savings to pay for further learning. kaya sa western world mas practical ang tao. every bit counts. there's even income insurance.

^Yup that's true. Yung kilala ko na 8 months na wala pa work came from a big company back home. More than 10 years extensive experience. Pero di naha-hire. Baka personality din yung problem, baka pag interview hindi mukhang impressive.

Yung isa naman na kilala ko, pagka-landing nagchange ng location sa Linkedin. Same day nicontact ng headhunter. Pinagexam, pinainterview sa dalawang clients. On the third day, both clients offered a job. Hindi pa niya kinailangan magsimula sa mababa. Prepared siya to start na mas mababa kesa sa position niya sa Pilipinas pero yung headhunter mismo nagsabi na wag, kaya niya.

So depende talaga yan sa skills,  and me luck din. Pero wala makakapagpredict niyan kaya leap of faith talaga.

IT jobs are a lot in Canberra ang Adelaide. a friend of mine who is working in Sydney for a very long time, applied for a permanent residency in Adelaide and Canberra. He got a better offer in Adelaide kaya andun na siya.

After March2014 when my Case Officer asked me for updated credentials like tax records, employment records and my new dependent's information, wala na ako update. 

I filed for Visa 175 last June2009. Yes, that was 5 years ago.
I only got an update from them asking for updated medical records starting Dec2013 up until March2014. And then after that, wala na naman movement. Wala din feedback maski sa email.

Meron din ba umabot ng ganito katagal sa inyo?

After I submitted my latest records last April, my Case Officer replied na naka vacation daw sya until end of month. So nun May, 2x ako nag-email. Auto reply lang nakukuha ko lagi dun sa Brisbane inbox nila. Maski mag login ako sa immi account ko, wala dn update.
Sana man lang magkaron ng decision na this year. Kesa yun I'll put my life on hold (purchase own house, have a new baby) dahil sa pag-antay ng sagot nila.

dami na din nagtatanggalang sa trabaho ngayon. sa workplace ni hubby ang dami permaent employees tinanggal. wala din sila mga bonus since last year pa.
