GT Engineers in USA

  hi! Sana may mga sis tayo na engineers in US.

Just want to know how you started your careers in US, requirements na kelangang dalhin from pinas and if required pa talaga ang magtake ng state boards.

Hi sis I'm not a Eng grad or an Engr here in the states but  i  did have a cousin who  is an Engr that  migrated here kaso  nadisappoint sya when he couldn't practice his  Engr  degree .

Here are  the reasons that  they  told him , he should go back to school  even if he passed his board exam in Phils because he did not graduate to  any  US Institution and when he goes back to school  and finish then he has to take  the  state board for Engr which is mandatory of course if you want to  work as a  Engr.

So in other words even naka grad ka na and even passed your board exam as a certified Engr sa Phils , [textspeak!] sa states they  don't  acknowledge it .

Dahil sa super disappoinment nya  , he went back to Phils kaysa naman daw magwork lang sya  [textspeak!] as a gas boy or a cashier sa grocery  or kung [textspeak!] pa makuha nya  or mapasukan na work.

Now he migrated to  Australia with his wife and kids ( his wife's family kase is in Aussie na so ayun) and there both of them were able to  practice their Engrng degree .

Actually, medyo nagba-browse na rin naman ako sa net about sa requirements for engineers sa US. Gusto ko lang sana nung mga actual experiences ng Filipino Engineers. Mas madali kasi makarelate

And yun nga, parang mahihirapan nga ako kasi kelangan ko talaga magtake ng state board. Wala nga kasing bearing dun yung license ko dito.
It's been 8 years since i graduated so matinding review ang kelangan ko.

My hubby is a US citizen din kasi so hindi pa option sa amin ang mag migrate sa ibang bansa.

I know it's depressing kaya di ko din masisisi mga nakilala ko  [textspeak!] na iba ( ibang lahi  ) na Eng sila kaso  ayun they can't even work as Engrs here dahil sa rule nila na yan and d agad basta basta na pede take ng board kase dapat [textspeak!] pa  naka graduate ng engr degree .. hay  kaloka which reminds me of my  cousin in law na lawyer na atenean pa nga ayun , she can't work as a lawyer, hindi  nila acknowledge ang credentials nya  kaya  gusto nalang nya umuwi  sa Phils.

i have friends who are working as engineers in the US. however, galing kasi sila sa pinas and worked as an engineer sa US-based company. after some time, the head office made it possible for them to transfer to the US branch.

My husband is a Professional Engineer (or PE) in California. But he moved na rin in Canada last 2009. OK din na may license siya sa US kasi hindi na niya kailangang mag-take ng mga theoretical board exams sa Alberta para naman sa PEng. Professional Ethics na lang.

Now pano naging PE si husband sa US? Nag-take siya ng EIT (Engineer-in-Training) exam tapos nagwork ng matagal sa isang engineering consulting firm. Tapos yun, eventually na-allow na rin siya mag-take ng board exam for PE. Inaassess kasi ng Board nila ang eligibility to take the exam. Ang important pag di ka graduate sa US ay work experience at recommendation ng supervisor na PE. Tapos syempre nagpadala rin ako ng mga transcript of records niya from Mapua.

Mukhang mejo mahaba nga talaga yung process na pagdadaanan ko. And im not that confident na magtake ng board ulit, it's been 8 years na kasi since i passed the board exam dito sa pinas.

Actually,mejo OT na siguro pero naguguluhan din ako kung ano ba talaga gagawin ko pagdating dun next year. We're planning pa lang din kasi ni hubby to have a baby. Our first.so di ko alam kung paano ko ihahandle yung changes sa buhay ko at sa career ko pagdating ko dun.
Im hoping na nga lang na makakuha ng job dun na somewhat related sa career ko dito.
