As far as reading goes, I'm  the type who prefers short, quick reads. I am the type who like faster paced books. I read a lot of YA and graphic novels. So for someone like me whose attention span with books is short, Count of Monte Cristo is by-far is the agonizingly longest book I've read. Took me quite a while to finish but I tell you, every single second was worth it. It's not hard to understand since it uses standard english.

Oh dear me too, I was hooked with this book. It was a present from Papa when I was in High School. Imaging I read this for only 1 and a half day! And until now I read it all over and over again.

Pride and Prejudice is also one of my sweet favorites.

Loved Madame Bovary! This sounds creepy but I could actually relate to her when I was reading the book.

Liked Animal Farm a lot, too. Easy read. I liked the ending.

my top, unchallenged, favorite for the longest time has been Little Women -- and its 2 subsequent books... also jane austen and charlotte bronte's work... i love the strengths and flaws of their female characters...

for the same reason, i also love noli me tangere and Urbana at Feliza

Seriously needs to catch up on reading Classic Novels. I will start with Little Women.

I love Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility.  Maybe I should reread them, last time I did was more than a decade ago pa.  We have a copy of Mansfield Park at home pero I haven't gotten around to reading it yet.

Kay Charles Dickens naman, I've read A Tale of Two Cities, Great Expectations and A Christmas Carol.  Depressing yung first two books, and when I was reading the last book I couldn't help thinking why Bob Cratchit was letting Scrooge be so mean to him.

I've been planning on reading Anna Karenina and Madame Bovary, but I've put it off kasi medyo depressing yung stories.

Animal Farm is actually not bad, and putting it as part of the classics is a good move by some publishers. So far, this novel is one of the achievements in blending history and literature :-)

Has anyone consider The Little Prince as a classic? I will petition to make the novella as part of it :-(

my old time favorite novel is Jose Rizal's Noli Me Tangere. even nung student pa ko. between Noli and El Fili, mas gusto ko ang Noli. i wanna read the little women, mataas ratings niya sa goodreads pero di ba may anime na little women tuwing tanghali dati. napanood ko na siya so baka naman umulit lang ako.

Read Les Miserables and Oliver Twist in highschool... and Charlotte's Web, hehe.. Then The Thorn Birds, it's a modern classic they say.

Like others, I was also trying to read Anna Karennina, pero di ko rin matapus-tapos. Ewan ko ba, ang dami ko nang natapos na ibang novels, stuck pa rin ako dito. Di ko yata masyadong trip mga characters like Levin...

Also tried Mary's Secret Garden, pero hirap ako intindihin the way the characters talk, old english na parang slang na may mga apostrophes. Ugh! Hindi na lang...

But I'm gonna try the other books listed here.

Been trying to read classic books since last year. So far I love The Count of Monte Cristo! Deception at its best hahaha  George Orwell's 1984 and Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird were also excellent reads.

Sobrang nakilig dinako sa Pride and Prejudice. ("He had done all this for a girl whom he could neither regard nor esteem. Her heart did whisper that he had done it for her")

Yung  Lord of the Flies, okay lang sa akin pero interesting yung story. Gusto ko din basahin ang Noli and El Fili pero in English Sorry po Rizal (and others), pero I have a hard time understanding long Filipino text

^I've had that book on my reading list since I was a kid pero hanggang ngayon aabutan na ako ng 2nd book e di ko pa rin nasisimulan.  Maybe I should read it bago pa ma-release yung 2nd book, buzzer-beater ang dating, hahahaha     Kaya lang medyo heavy yung story, I don't feel like reading heavy stuff at the moment.

Medyo hangover ako sa Lord of the Flies. I really liked how it was written, feeling ko nasulat lang siya early 2000's. Hehe

i love Pride and Prejudice ilang ulit ko na syang binasa. i tried reading Love in the Time of Cholera pero di ko natapos nabo-bored ako.

Finally nakahanap ako ng ganitong thread! 

Always loved the classics. Maybe because of the mystery, the romance and the way they lived their lives on those days na uso pa ang pagiging prim and proper ang mga tao.

Local classics:
Loved El Filibusterismo since highschool! Ewan pero ilang beses na akong pinaiyak ng librong yan..haha! Sadly di ko pa sya natapos though nalaman ko na ending nya. 

World classics:
Shakespeare and Austen will always have a soft spot sakin. Gusto ko sanang simulan yung LOTR pero nong nakita ko yung book, napalunok na lang ako. Haha! Since maraming may fave, I will try yung The Count of Monte Cristo, yung summarized book kasi yung nabasa ko non.
