Mestiza=Maganda???

I have a friend who told me that Mestizas=Maganda to guys.
I'm not 100% sold on this, so do share your thoughts!

When I heard the word mestiza, I always think of maputi, foreign ang itsura, walang bahid ng pagiging pinoy. Merong mga taong mestiza na maganda, meron rin namang hindi.

Correct me if Im wrong, si Lovi Poe, mestiza ba siya? Diba hindi? Pero ang hot niya para sakin =)))

mestiza means mixed heritage.
filipino-american, chinese-filipino, mexican-american heritage, pwede rin spanish-filipino-american heritage and so on.

dito sa pinas, pag sinabing mestiza, ang naiisip agad maputi, brown ang mata, brown ang buhok. pag sinabing mestiza, maganda na kaagad. Pero in reality, marami akong nakikitang mestiza na hindi kagandahan.

marami din akong guys na kilala na mahilig sa morena. but in general babae man o lalalki, nagagandahan sa maputi at buhok mais. Kaya nga kabi-kabila na ang ad ng whitening products e. At ilan na lang ba ang porsiyento ng mga kababaihan dito sa pinas ang hindi pa nakakapagpa-hair dye?

The term "maganda" is very relative. What may be attractive to me may not be attractive to others, kanya-kanyang taste pa rin 'yan.

but there are girls who are simply maputi na wala lang.

i'm a girl too. are chinese considered mestiza? kasi for me hindi. maputi sila. asian. mestiza yung parang sina bea alonzo, ganun. mestiza.

i used to think that pero with the advent of gluta/maxipeel/and other effective and famous whitening products that have become so commercialized, i dont think it that way anymore. minsan pag may nakikita akong mapuputing girls and i get this gut feeling na di naman talaga siya ganyan kaputi, iniisiip ko "thank you gluta". haha!

i'm a girl but i know it when a woman is beautiful. napansin ko walang "criteria" yung beautiful sa akin, just like what's handsome to me. iba-iba kasi sila ng histura. parang i saw a girl/boy then boom she's beautiful/he's handsome. i think it's in the way they carry themselves for me.

skin color is not beautiful in itself. What is beautiful about skin color is its social significance. Kung maputi ka, it could mean you're pampered, and thus you dont have to work. Or, mayroon kang dugong banyaga which means mayroon kang kaya.

Yan ang common idea about white skin (in the Philippine social context). But, as iwannabeasupermodel has pointed out, glutathion has leveled the playing field on the 'whiteness' game. Kahit sino pwede nang pumuti. The upshot of this is that naging cheap na ang pagiging puti, since it is more accessible to a greater number of people at a cheaper price.

Mayroong good news jan and bad news. The good news is, one can be "white" without the necessary cultural and social baggage. Hindi mo na kelangan magkaron ng Castillian heritage in order to be white. You can be indio and be white at the same time. The bad news? Social distinction has moved to a higher level.

In this day and age, "whiteness" is slowly losing its place as the sole definer of class status. In its wake, it has been replaced by verbal class distinction. Now people are beginning to put people into social categories by the way people speak. Ang good news, maski kasing itim ng uling yung tao, basta magaling magsalita at hindi matigas ang dila, one can still command respect from our polite yet hypocritical society.

^so true. I've met LOTS a people without a single trace of the mestiza look, yung by their looks iisipin mo mahirap, maitim, etc pero boom. When they talked your jaw will drop kasi they're very fluent and it's not the call-center fluent and accent. It's the "i've-lived-in-the-states-fo-some-time" accent and fluent.

i'd like to make a qualification for those people who've lived in the states.

the reason is,  nakita ko na sobrang linaw ng distinction between the educated Filipino expats and the "ghetto/california speak" of some Phil-Ams. yun bang tipong pilit na american english at mejo tagilid sa subject-verb agreement. yung tipong, 3 buwan pa lang sa states eh, mayroon nang sinalihang gang at baba-tuhod na yung suot na pants. that kind of english.

its hard to define, but you probably know what i'm thinking of. haha

Definitely a big NO NO!!!! advantage lang yung pagiging maputi nila pero pansinin mo rin ang facial features nila at times.

Sa mga celebrity lang hindi ako nagagandahan kay Kristen Stewart, ewan ko ba parang tingin ko sa kanya bruha kahit nakaayos.

Hindi ko na matukoy kung sino pa ang ibang mestiza na I don't really find them so pretty.

Being mestiza does not equate you to become beautiful. i agree with you guys, nowadays you can see a lot of super fair skinned people and some of them as white as wall but they are not beautiful at all. gluta is very much accessible to anyone who wants fairer skin. but their attitudes dont change. and most of them are (sad to say) are involve in not so good industries because they think the fairer they are the higher their price value. lil they forget that what's important is how they can command respect with how they talk and carry themselves. Ive seen a lot of these girls at the malls, lounges, escort services, you'd know immediately if they are really blessed with fair skin or its 'thank you gluta'.

Not true. To be considered maganda, bone structure is more important than one's coloring.

^an excellent example is angel aquino. she's so freaking beautiful! and she's more beautiful now more than ever. it's the bone structure. her cheeks are impossibly high though you also have to put into consideration her without-a-doubt expert and excellent mua. ang ganda talaga ng pakakacontour ng cheeks niya.

hahaha. kristen stewart talaga? para kasi siyang laging bangag na caught in the middle na naguguluhan sa mundo niya. parang laging nawawala sa destinasyon na ewan.

Ang maganda pang morena sina Assunta da Rossi pati yung kapatid nya. I forgot her name, but they have that olive-toned skin you usually find among mediterrenean women.

in my opinion, walang sukatan ang "Ganda".

Beauty is subjective which means open to interpretation, a question of opinion and judged differently by different people. to each his own. for the question Mestiza=Maganda???, i'd say NOT ALL THE TIME.

to be clear, first thing na naiisip ko about Mestiza are:
1. White freckled skin
2. Brown eyes
3. Pointed nose
4. Brown hair
5. Big boned

so basically i am describing Andi Eigenmann  who is very very pretty!
