to give you a background, my mom was diagnosed with adenocarcinoma (a type of lung cancer) in Sept 2010. No symptoms except for a lump under her jaw which turned out to be a metastasis. So she was rated as Stage 4. Doctors are pushing for treatment. Best time to get treatment daw kasi no symptoms to deal with. Pero mom chose alternative treatment. Takot kasi sa chemo. We went to this doctor (Dr Navarro) who claims to be able to tell if you have cancer through urinalysis. Juicing, vegetables, supplements were recommended. She's drinking tons of carrots+green apple juice. no meat. alam ko meron pa flax seed and flax oil. all organic.
Starting mid 2011, noticed mom losing weight, not eating as much, having pains sa lower back. Gradual yung symptoms and easy to ignore. By end of Oct, she's in pain na, cannot eat, and very weak. when tested, cancer has spread all over na - bones, brain, abdomen. Docs are again pushing for treatment. Pero mom again chose alternative med. This time, we went to Dr. Merced. It's all so confusing to me kasi I cannot understand the concept of "healing crisis". Sabi Dr. my mom will get worse before she gets better kasi papatayin yung mother tumor. She's being given high dose vitamins, then something that will poison and kill the cancer cells. More juicing, and enema are recommended. Tapos meron pa raw egg whites to boost her albumin. we also bought this machine from Dr Merced that's suppose to deliver low dose electric current to kill cancer cells, bacteria, virus, funghi). through all this, mom is in pain, very weak, hardly eating, vommitting. sabi brother ko healing crisis. she's complain about pain in her legs, Dr. Merced suggested na i-massage namin but it's not helping. until the time that she's already in so much pain and asked to be brought to the hospital. ayun, nagblood clot na pala. worse, nag pulmonary embolism na (some of the clots went to her lungs) which is a fatal condition.....
After that, thankfully she finally listened and went for treatment. It's a big turnaround. by summer 2012, she's feeling well enough to go out again. she can walk, be independent again. Mom didn't get well. Upfront naman dun ang mga doctors. But at least na extend yung life nya by 18 months, 15 of which were really "feeling better"time
both my parents chose alternative over conventional treatment (my dad naman went to this doctor in Tarlac who is promoting Boston-C. A huge disaster din). I'm not a fan of alt treatment and would not recommend it.
And another thing, alt treatment is not cheap ha. Except for Dr. Navarro, kasi naman urinalysis lang gawa nya + supplement, grabe ang mahal ng alt treatment (compared to Medical City or St Luke's)
