Re sleepy babies, yes it is normal too for newborns to be very sleepy. You can tickle the feet or the side of the mouth so he will suck again.

Bakit feeling mo di na-e-empty breasts mo? It could be:
1) your baby is only 10 days old. Hindi pa na-e-establish supply kaya there's the feeling of fullness & Hindi "nasisimot".

-OR-

2) it could be because you are supplementing. Kaya by the time you try to make him latch, Hindi niya nasisimot. Remember formula is heavier on the tummy. If busog pa from the formula, how can you expect the baby to drain your breasts?

 Ang question, is she making the baby latch? How often? Cause no amount of sabaw, milk and healthy diet can help if Hindi naman pina-pa-latch ang baby.

^Im relieved now sis coz got a message from my bestfriend na finally may milk na daw cya she's been trying to latch the baby for 10 minutes each time the baby is hungry kahit walang milk na lumalabas... good to know na may milk na cya now

my bestfriend gave birth to her first baby 4 days ago and wala talaga cyang milk she wants to breastfeed her son so badly but walang lumalabas. Umiinom naman cya ang mga sabaw, drinks milk and eats healthy... I wonder how long kaya cya magkakaroon ng milk for her baby? or may mga moms ba talaga na walang milk? sad naman.

like hunny_ally said, wala pong nanay na walang gatas and super rare lang din na mangyari ang ganito if meron man. i remember someone posted here na meron daw cyang hormonal issues kaya nagkaproblem sa supply BUT nevertheless the point there is walang nanay na walang gatas. eh para saan pa na ginawa ng diyos ang boobs ng babae?

hi mommies!

1 week old na ang baby big boy ko, and i've been bfeeding him for 5 days now. kaso, my prob is nagkasugat na ang nipples ko. as in nagbalat na and nagdugo. everytime na si baby would feed, masakit pero tinitiis ko na lang. minsan to the point na naluluha ako sa sakit. maliit kasi ang buka ng mouth nya, and my nipples are kinda big. me pwede ba akong ilakad na ointment or cream or anything na makaka-sooth ng pain ng soreness na di naman harmful ke baby?

The same thing happened to me. As in I would shriek in pain everytime I'd breast feed during my first week. And we couldn't find any nipple creams in stores. So we did cup feeding for 2-3 days to let my nipples heal. I thought talaga I'll be cup feeding na ever but sa umpisa lang pala talaga masakit. After 3 days I tried direct feeding again, it wasn't as painful and after a week I think my nipple got used to it na. Sa umpisa lang talaga masakit. Hang in there!

Sa mga nagintroduce ng pacifier.. When did you start? I tried kasi giving my 7 week old baby last night ayaw nya haha and nakakaguilty pala feeling ko there;s a foreign object sa bibig nya LOL or maybe I should get used to it. Parang feeling ko kasi when I gave him a pacifier niloloko ko sya and he should be  drinking my milk instead. Kaso naman di na ako minsan makakain sa sobrang takaw ng anak ko lagi gusto mag feed x_x So far ayaw pa din nya mag pacifier niluluwa nya haha will he get used to it ba?

me namention ang friend ko na cream, [textspeak!] mustela daw na nipple cream. effective ba ito? also, sabi nila [textspeak!] palmer's din daw na breastfeeding cream. has anyone used these products before?

Help!! Im Still BFing my 17 month old baby boy. Now, he's addicted to it to the point he'll cry and have a tantrum when i cant give it to him. Usually this happens every morning, ginagawa nyang pacifier and nipples ko.  if i turn my back at him, he would hit me naman and ang worst na ginagawa niya, inuuntog niya head niya sa head ko.  haay.. He eats 3times a day and drinks milk pero konti lang. I know Breastfeeding is good pero its now turning him into a monster when he cant get any. What should i do?? Di ko naman matiis kapag umiiyak siya and he wants my milk. Now he's controlling me.

Elise, are you spending enough time with your boy? Kasi Baka feeling niya breastfeeding is the only time he can spend solo & quality time with you. I noticed with my 2yo after I gave birth to our youngest, he nursed more often. As in every time he sees his little sister nursing, he wants his turn too. So every morning & afternoon, I bring him out for a walk. Spend 30mins to an hour solo time. He still nursed often pero at least nabawasan. You should make him realize that there are other ways na Puwede kaya niya ma-solo aside from breastfeeding. Wag mo siyang basta bastang talikuran. Kasi for them they see it as rejection. Just offer other activities that he can do with you.

had my period after almost 9 months after i gave birth. we are still EBF / pumping at day. i had chills and fever the night that i had my AF. i'm not sure if it was and adverse reaction of my body to hormones or what pero i didn't took any medicines.

nag fluctuate pa ang milk supply nyo when you had your period? galing kasi kami sa 5 day holiday kaya baka walang changes sa milk supply ko. is it true that milk supply decreases pag may period due to hormone changes?

Haay... mejo naiimberna ko sa OB ko. I asked her before if Makati Med supports breastfeeding 100% and she said yes, tapos she also said that she's a breastfeeding advocate. Pero naman when I told her that I wanted to room-in with baby after I give birth so I can breastfeed agad, her question was "Sigurado ka? Kasi mahirap magroom-in agad after delivery coz exhausted ka pa nyan, sakit ng boobs mo, sakit ng stitches mo. Tapos walang mag-assist sayo, ikaw agad mag-alaga kay baby. You might want to rest first." She's suggesting na the next day na lang daw ako magroom-in with baby and sa first day eh sa nursery muna. Diba if she's truly a breastfeeding advocate, she would agree with me na magroom-in agad so I can breastfeed on demand...

I agree with you. In Med City laki na ng pinag-iba. I had my first 2 in 2009 and 2010. That time they make the baby latch upon delivery and really encourage that i breastfeed the baby. I roomed-in them nga lang the following day pa. pero this year when i gave birth to my third they said na baby-friendly na ang TMC and totoo naman. Di na suction yung nose ng baby para linisin pagkalabas, kasabay ko na si baby pagpunta sa room paglabas ko ng recovery room. They even have a lactation consultant visit you daily to help you breastfeed the baby and talagang tinuruan ako kaya nga sa 3rd baby ko lang talaga ko naka-breastfeed nang matagal. in my other 2 kids, naka-2 weeks lang ako i gave up na agad. plus pagka-discharge, walang naka-prescribe na formula unlike before na may field talaga dun sa discharge form for the formula to take.

^^ valid pa rin naman yung concern ng ob mo about rooming in, i don't think that makes her less of a bf advocate. siguro ang important is ipa latch mo agad ang baby sa yo after you deliver and strict instructions not to give the bottle.

Sis.. ako ginamit ko yung pigeon nipple cream.. ako din napagdugo nya sa 2nd day nya.. sa una lang naman masakit.. ako nga.. sabi ko parang di ko kakayanin.. pero inisip ko yung para kay baby.. kaya nakaya din.. and it helps din talaga yung pigeon nipple cream.. bumili na talaga ako nun before manganak.. para ready. And i asked kay pedia nun kung safe ma latch ni baby yung nipple cream.. she asked me what brand,, sabi ko pigeon.. ahh ok lang.. safe yun.. sabi nya.. tsaka bumili din ako nung nipple shield.. ginamit ko lang naman yun.. nung sobra ng sakit yung nipple ko... lalo na yung time na parang sobrang daming gatas na ayaw lumabas... pero ngayon.. 5 months na kaming EBF.. Thank's God!

When my baby was born, he weighed only 2.2kg.  Now that he's 4 weeks old, he's only 2.3 kg. Exclusively breastfed naman. Di ko na tuloy alam ano gagawin. Balik ulit kami ng pedia on friday. Ubos na nga oras ko kaka breastfeed pero ang bagal naman nyang lumaki.

^According to our pedia newborns tend to lose weight on his first 2 weeks kasi they lose pa water and shed lanugo or yung hair so I guess normal lang yung konti lang na-gain na weight ng baby mo

kaya lang kasi, low birth weight na sya to start with eh.  dapat daw kasi at least 2.5 kg ang newborn. but mine is already 1 month old at di pa rin umabot sa 2.5 kg.

also, we had him vaccinated sa health center this morning and anlalaki ng babies ng ibang mommies.  mine was the smallest. they kept asking if he's premature. ilang beses akong natanong. kaka frustrate. baka daw di ako kumakain. eh 30 lbs naman na gain ko while pregnant. feeling ko tuloy kasalanan ko.

^ My twins even weighed less at 1.15 and 1.22 kg, respectively.  And they lost weight too during the first few weeks.  Nakakapanic, totoo yan.  But, as @rexyloise correctly said, newborns tend to lose a little weight.

Listen, if your baby is thriving and seems to be satisfied, do not put yourself through endless worrying.  It may affect your supply.  Relax.  Lalaki rin ang baby mo.  Pretty soon, you will complain naman na napakabigat na ng baby mo at hindi mo na makarga.

Did you have gestational diabetes or high blood sugar levels when you were pregnant?  Are you small-framed?  What did your doctor say about your baby's birth weight?  Hindi ba na-monitor iyang weight gain ng baby when you were still pregnant?

^ sis, i am small-framed, and only 5 ft tall.  my weight pre pregnancy fluctuates between 99-102lbs.  i did not have gestational diabetes nor high blood and my baby was actually born via CS because when i had an ultrasound at 38 weeks pregnant, they found na baby only weighs around 4lbs. To think na he is on his 9th month na, dapat mas mabilis ang paglaki nya.  Sakin naman, bumagal yung paglaki. So my OB decided to do an emergency CS kasi it's better for the baby to thrive nalang outside of the womb rather than keep him inside when he's not gaining enough weight naman na.
