Philippine General Hospital - PGH

My ob is only affiliated with 4 hospitals. Cardinal Santos, Medical City, St Lukes Global & PGH. January 2012 pa naman due ko but would like to hear some feedback. Preferred sana namin St. Lukes Global but I live in Malate area and the closest hospital na affiliated si Doc is PGH. Aside from that, preferred talaga ni OB ang PGH kasi laking tipid daw and with what I can save I can buy more things pa daw for the baby and set aside money for  other medical emergencies. It's the most practical decision daw and di pa ako mahihirapan sa pagtravel. We truly appreciate her concern yet, we would like to hear some feedback.

Ako rin sis waiting for feedback sa PGH. Im chosing between Madocs and PGH. Sabi nga ni OB malaki raw matitipid dun. Plan ko puntahan this month to check facilities of UP-PGH. Sabi ni OB nursery lang daw ang ayaw nya dun kase room in daw dapat agad si baby.

Sana may magpost dito ng experiences nila sa panganganak sa PGH.

^Ilang months ka na sis? I'll have my perinatal exam in PGH next week. If okey pakiramdam ko, baka I'll check din their facilities. Gusto rin ni hubs sa Madocs kaso di pwede dun ob ko kaya we're considering PGH or St Lukes Global.

Medyo expensive rin sa Madocs eh that's why im thinking twice.

Okay naman sa PGH, kung nasa payward ka, yung room mo halos walang difference sa private hospitals especially sa Madocs, parang mas maganda at mas malaki pa nga sa PGH. Sa hospital bills, mura talaga, sa doctor's pf lang magkakatalo. Kasi ako, malaki doctor's pf ko, sabi ng friend ko, yung ginastos ko sa PGH, ganon rin daw quote sa kanya sa Madocs.
Pero, piece of advice lang, magpareserve nang maaga para sa room, hirap makakuha kaya yung iba kung walang kakilala, sa ward napupunta or dun sa biggest suite.

^sis how much inabot bill mo? pano yung reservation sis eh di pa naman sure kung when sakto manganganak? yun nga rin ang fear ko eh baka walang avail na room eh.

tama if private room kayo okay naman sa pgh kaya lang ako natrauma ako dyan sa rude na ob resident nung nag- threatened abortion ako.  Dati advise rin ng ob ko nung id&c ako sa pgh na lang para mura pero kung may baby daw she wouldn't advise.  Feeling ko dapat magmadocs na lang kayo,  hindi naman sila nalalayo ng price ng pgh tapos private and maganda pa service sa madocs.

30k yung sabi nya sakin private room at private pedia daw. sa Madocs naman 35k ward yun.

^Ganyan din quote sa akin ni doc sis, cs pa daw yun. Mas mababa if normal delivery.

hi sisses! i am a microbiologist working at pgh. yes, ok naman daw to give birth at pgh cost-wise, as per advice from my friends who gave birth there. ako kasi i gave birth at Capitol Medical Center since nandun ang OB ko.

just a warning though, very high ang incident ng hospital acquired blood infections sa mga babies sa nursery ng pgh, mostly involving multi-drug resistant strains pa. you may want to consider direct rooming in para hindi na mag-stay ang baby ninyo sa nursery.

^ Thanks for the headsup sis mai_mia. I just came from PGH for my biometric doppler scan. Thank God, normal yung result. Si Doc Cacas yung perinatologist na nag assist sa akin. Ang bait niya , very sweet & accomodating. Di ako minamadali and ilang ulit niya pinasadahan yung tummy ko baka daw magchange position si baby and makita na yung genitals. Kaso, iniipit ni baby e. Ayaw pakita....haha...pero happy ako sa 1st lab test ko sa PGH.

  Dun siguro magkakatalo yan mga sis, the way they handle their patients sa st. Lukes kasi parang baby ang pag aalaga nila sa pasyente. Walang masungit, wala kang mararamdaman na naiinis sila kahit anong request mo.  I just dont know with pgh. Pero sa mga naririnig ko, magagaling ang mga doctors nila sa pgh.

Im still torn between Madocs and PGH...

Sa Madocs we'll get the package(ward) at 37k for normal pero resident doctor, Sa PGH 40k ward rin pero yung OB ko. Kinakabahan naman ako dun sa nursery incidents na yun...

I gave birth in PGH as Pay Patient in 2007 and ok naman ang experience ko. My bill was around P40k ata with philhealth na... cs ako.

re nursery sabi kasi sakin ni ob (resident) kung healthy baby rooming in agad yun. i gave birth at 130pm and jnakyat si baby agad sa room after that. i had to stay in the recovery room until 7ish pm which i didnt like kasi medyo tagal at nakakainip na. overall i was happy i chose pgh and baka dun din ulit ako when i give birth this march

btw sa mga malapit na due pls let us know yung current prices sa pgh ha? mukhang palpak kasi yung philhealth namin ni hubby this time so i want to know the current rates

40k normal...80k cs quote sakin ni doc...ewan ko kung bawas na philhealth dun...payward lang yun...mahal diba? Lake kase ng pf nya...hayyyyyy

^Wow ang laki ng 80k sis. Baka pwede pa tawaran sis. I'll ask din my ob how much sa kanya. Nakakataranta na mga hospital rates ngayon.

wow malaki nga ang pf nya kung ganun sis kasi sa experience ko 3/4 ng binayaran ko for cs eh pf ng doc, anesth, and pedia... id better talk to my doc kung old rate iapply nya sakin

yung payward ilang tao sa room daw sis? yung nakuha kasi namin dati 2 beds in a room pero since walang ibang patient nasolo namin yung room im not sure kung anong type ng room yun

Siguro nga sis... kanya kanya kasi yan eh, yung ob ko is also a specialist so i felt deserve nya naman pf nya nung nanganak ako dati. Ill find out sa checkup if same pa din. importante kasi na comfortable ka kay ob lalo na pag normal delivery so sa next baby ka na nga magpalit.
