Is it really safe to book rooms/apartments via airbnb?  I'll be going to New York this year and am considering getting accommodations from airbnb rather than a typical hotel that is really very expensive!  appreciate your replies!  TIA!

Nagbibigay ba kayo ng copy of passport to airbnb website as requirement nila for verification?
Hindi kasi ako makapush through sa booking ko kasi "it needs to get verified" daw, then isa sa mga IDs na pwede is passport. Safe kaya i-upload ang copy of passport sa airbnb?

i've tried airbnb twice na. i did the  booking myself once. okay naman kung sa okay. both i've tried have overflowing glowing reviews (lol). but the "hidden charges" na essential where not mentioned. like the one in puerto galera, of course di naman kami nagdala ng kotse papunta dun, the place is a tad bit far from the famous beaches so i understand na transpo is needed. yung caretaker ng house offers a transpo, of course it was convenient na sila na lang din kunin di ba, eh di sana isama nila yun dun sa details part, just saying. para well planned yung budget part ng itinerary.
another is, when i did the booking, i just "messaged" the host but it turned out na it's like a request to book already and he gave me 24hrs to book. so ayun, nabigla lang ako. i was just inquiring about the place tapos biglang pressure na kailangan bayad na etc. of course gusto ko yung place so i paid na and all, ayoko naman mablack list.

Just booked with Airbnb last week for a three-nights stay in a condo in Ortigas. The listing was clean naman and the host (even the caretaker) responds fast! Free access pa sa pool and parking.

Overall, I was satisfied with my first Airbnb reservation and am looking forward to more travels with them!

^^as long as you do the transaction over the airbnb app/site, you're covered in case the unit owner didn't live up to the end of the bargain.

Hi sis, it's not really the host pressuring you to book the place within 24 hours.  For us hosts, Airbnb computes how fast we respond on messages by potential guests.  They give us 24 hours to accept or reject an inquiry; whether it's only asking for a direction or clearing up some details regarding the listing.

Unless the host really worded their chat to you as, you need to book within 24 hours, then it's actually Airbnb's system doing that.

^Hello Sis Simang!  Nagcheck nga ako sa tagaytay area, may nahanap ako kaso when i checked sa mismong website nung place, iba ang rate nila pag for wedding. that's because may mga ilalabas silang gamit for wedding (chairs, etc.) naisip ko lang kung pwede kaya magconduct na wedding dun pero for the airbnb price. hehe.

Sisses, how do you contact your hosts when using AirBnB overseas? Will I need to buy a local SIM so I can contact them? Locally ko pa lang kasi siya na-try and I'm quite hesitant using it abroad.

^--- I would assume you're talking about SMS messages... yeah, buying a local sim would be the best.  Messaging thru Airbnb would be the norm.
