Malapit lang by bus or car ang Philly. Puwede rin ang DC & Boston.

Ok lang kaya i-solo travel ang New York City?

It is doable. But as with other big cities -- be smart about it. Plan your itinerary well and if you're going to use public transportation, map it out ahead of time. NYC is not known to be the friendliest city in the world. So if you do get lost, it's kinda hit or miss to find someone who'll be really helpful. Try to always be in populated areas and always be aware of your surroundings. Let's be real here... this is NYC. It's not scary, but it's not called a "jungle" for nothing.

hi mga sis! starting to backread na ko pero baka may makasagot naman while backreading to this thread. We are planning for a trip NYC-DC for 5 days. doable naman ba? iniisip ko kasi june 11-13 sa NYC kami tapos june 14-15 sa DC. bale flight namin will be june 10 ng gabi from seattle then june 11 morning nasa NYC na kami. Also, baka may masuggest kayo na hotel/airbnb na mapagstayan sa NYC and DC. Thanks

First time kasi namin magpupunta ng NYC on July 3-8(6D/5N) we are a family of 3, including an 18mos. baby in tow, so safety and easily accessible subway is a must. We narrowed down our hotel choices, can you help us which would be the best based on safety, accessibility and nearness of tourist spot. Here's our choices that fits our budget:

Pod39 Hotel - 145 East 39th Street, Murray Hill, New York City,
Homewood Suites - 312 West 37th Street, Garment District, New York City
City Club Hotel - 55 West 44th Street, Midtown Center, New York City
Hilton Garden Inn Chelsea - 121 West 28th Street, Chelsea, New York City
Holiday Inn Manhattan Financial District - 99 Washington Street, Financial District, New York City

If may suggested hotel pa kayo, painform na din. thanks a lot

^will be in NYC at around the same time you wil lbe there although will be stay upstate. Try to check trivago.com and see hotels near times square para malapit lang kayo sa mga attractions.

Try to book a hotel room already since july 4 is a mjaor holiday, prices will be high and it will be quite hard to get a room

^ahh talaga sis! summer sa nyc niyan noh? we are trying to book nga this week sana pero di ko kasi sure if safe yung neighborhood ng mga hotel na nasa list ko. yung mga hotel kasi na super near sa time square, di pasok sa budget eh! hehe..kayo sis, anong hotel kayo?

Pod39 Hotel - 145 East 39th Street, Murray Hill, New York City, Only the green line runs on that side of Manhattan so that's the only hangup of being in that area. Otherwise, it's pretty good. But it's also not quite that close to all the touristy spots.
Homewood Suites - 312 West 37th Street, Garment District, New York City Close to the Herald Square/Madison Square Garden/Empire State area. I'm not a huge fan of the area though.
City Club Hotel - 55 West 44th Street, Midtown Center, New York City Heart of Times Square right here. Might be your best bet if you're wanting to be somewhat centrally located.
Hilton Garden Inn Chelsea - 121 West 28th Street, Chelsea, New York City Again close to Herald Square/Madison Square Garden/Empire State. Little more downtown. Little better area.
Holiday Inn Manhattan Financial District - 99 Washington Street, Financial District, New York City You'll be closer to the Statue of Liberty/Battery Park but not everything else.

^ Hiya sis, you sure you'd want this kind of setup? It's a hostel. I'm not sure this will work out for you with a small child. In any case, it's close to the Herald Square area.

Yes -summer na yan, and touring season na yan. If you need to add a bit more sa budget mo, maybe you can just adjust. kasi if you  have a small child, it would be better if you are closer to the attractions.

There's this mall na malapit sa Ground Zero where you can find good deals. Century 21 yung name. I used to stay at hilton hotel near Time Sq so i would take a subway, yun lang as far as I remember pag weekend change route yun mga subways. Check nyo na lang sissies not sure if may changes ngaun. Mejo matagal nako huli nakapunta NYC.

@junetwentythree thanks sa help! We already booked Yotel. Hindi masyadong malapit pero hindi rin naman malayo sa mga tourist spot. sis, advisable ba na bumili ng sim for data only or marami namang free wifi area? thanks

^ I've stayed in Yotel before. I liked it there. Reasonably-priced and in a good location. Rooms are clean and well appointed. And medyo bago-bago pa siya. Very nice & efficient ang staff.

Don't expect much for breakfast. Usually muffins lang and coffee / tea / milk (?). But still not so bad.

We stayed for more than half a month in NYC, so we opted to get a sim card. Depende siguro kung gaano kayo katagal doon. Marami rin namang areas na may free WiFi. But getting a sim card was a better option for us kasi we needed to do calls, lalo na when booking rental cars, etc.

^yey! thanks for the feedback sa yotel! okay nga ang price niya compared sa budget hotel may free coffee/tea at muffins pa! 5D/4N kami sa NYC, hindi na lang siguro hanap na lang kami starbucks! Hahaha

We stayed at shoreham hotel 55th st between 5th and 6th st. Super near south central park, halal guys, times square, rockefeller, the plaza, bryant park and grand central station.... Btw loved tina's cuban cuisine by 56th and 6th lang 😍

Hi, much better you take go link shuttle from NYC airport its far cheaper only $17 per person that's what we had used when we were in NYC.
