was just in NYC but wasnt able to go to manhattan kasi it was raining the day we planned to go. sayang nga kasi we wanted to eat at serendipity and try frozen hot chocolate. next time i'll make sure we go.

Hi everyone.

It may be OT, but I would like to ask which airport is better, La Guardia or JFK? I am planning  to make a sidetrip to NY for 2 days this September. I just want to see Times Square, Empire State, World Trade site, Central Park, Wall St, Manhattan, 5th ave,Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn bridge. I maybe on my own if ever my friend will not be available. Can i ask for a suggested itinerary so that I can cover most attractions in 2 days? thank you so much.

^sis, mas malapit ang La Guardia sa Manhattan. But if you find cheaper air fares to JFK okay lang since they're both accessible by public transpo.

^^JFK is very accessible if ever you get cheaper flights there. Just take the Airtrain from JFK and connected na yun sa train/subway at Jamaica Station. I'm here in NYC now until first week of September. Umulan kanina, parang bagyo sa pinas tapos biglang umaraw *weird* Hopefully tomorrow sunny na ulit.

If you're going to try Crumbs, i suggest you try Magnolia Bakery na lang.  IMO, too sweet yung Crumbs although malaki yung size pero since too sweet nga, hindi ko naubos. Better talaga Magnolia cupcakes.

@mamasqueak & iamsuperizch: Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be coming from Atlanta. Nagtitingin nga ako ng bus or train to NY para makatipid ng onti (kuripot mode) pero ang travel time naman ang tagal. I'll just look for cheaper flights na lang or use my skymiles (kuripot mode ulit). i have less than a month to research how close/far and anung okay pagsasamahin na must see places in a day. Sana mabigyan nyo pa ako ng suggestions. If di lang restricted ang budget, I also want to go to DC. Pero next time na lang (sana if meron).

Ilan ba ang airport sa NY at san ang malapit sa Long Island? How many hours din ang Long Island to Manhattan?

I wanted to know kasi I will be travelling on October there? and anyone knows any apartment in Cooney Island because my family and I will be staying there for good. Your inputs a truly appreciated.

^Both LGA and JFK are in Long Island. Depends na lang saang area ng Long Island ka pupunta. You might want to check the GT Overseas thread for help in your relocation para hindi ka off topic.

I miss new york. Been there for 3 months before, work related. Naisip ko nga pano ba yung feeling na mag isa ka sa isang foreign land and experienced it in NY, ang saya. Nawala yung pagkakuripot ko don kasi sobrang nag enjoy ako sa shopping na tipong pag uwe ko wala akong naipon sa per diem ko. Para bang naging comfort zone ko ang century 21 na halos twice a week ko dinadalaw. I wanna go back there hoping next year kasi malabo this year. Almost tempted to buy a round trip ticket kasi me promo ang delta ngayun. Wish wish wish!

I agree sis rics, grabe ilang AK and kenneth cole watches ang pinangpasalubong ko before. I bought it for around 30usd tapos when we checked the price here in Manila around 5k to 7k. Sobrang tipid same with the bags and shoes. Love it!

just recently discovered century21 and love it more than marshalls & tjmax combined! and for that alone, i want to go back to nyc.

when i  was in highschool i worked for this  company  for and yes napaka mura and the thing pa we get 20% discount kahit clearance na yung items, i miss those days na nakakasave ako ng mabuti sa mga pinamimili ko  .

1998 ako nung nagpunta ako rito. Nagsise talaga ako na hindi man lang ako nagpapasyal sa WTC bago pa ito bumagsak. 

Traffic rin talaga rito sa area na ito. Parang Manila version.

just got back from my one month vacation in NYC. I love their subway! Very easy to commute from point A to B.

Regarding Century 21, at first i thought replicas yung items nila kasi sobrang mura but nag-research ako and hindi naman daw.  They don't tolerate counterfeits "daw" according to one article i found online. I guess parang H&M collaborations sila; these designers design exclusively for Century 21 or they sell items from past season na.  Ganon yung assumption ko kasi yung items na nakita ko sa Century 21, wala sa mismong designer stores, even sa outlet stores.  I bought one MK wristlet (for me) and MK bag (for mom).  Dun sana ako bibili nang pasalubong but since hindi ako 100% sure sa items nila, I bought from Macy's na lang para sigurado (baka ano pa masabi nang pagbibigyan ko, hehe).

Hindi lang namen napuntahan yung Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, we only went to Queenstown in MD and Tanger in Delaware.  Hindi ko tuloy na-compare yung prices.

Happy ako kasi we were able to visit locations from SATC and Friends' series (e.g. Carrie's apt, Friends' building, the library where Carrie and Big's wedding took place, etc.) Hindi lang namin napuntahan yung Ghostbuster's firehouse (haha! babaw ko lang.) Balikan ko na lang next time  Even MOMA, MET and Guggenheim Museums hindi namin napuntahan, only American Museum of Natural History. Hirap kasi if may baby, kids and senior citizen 

I also love walking the streets of NYC. Kahit wala kang cash (and you have your Unlimited Pass Metro Card), mage-enjoy ka pa din kasi madami ka makikita.  Before, I told myself I want to live (eventually) in UK, now that I've experienced NYC, I'm having second thoughts na.  Mas convenient kasi sa NYC compared sa UK (wherein you need a car talaga).  In NYC, kahit wala ka car, ok pa din kasi very accessible ang subway kahit saan.

Going back to NYC next week for a week.  Though I was there last March, then May-June (under a month) -- I am excited to go back. Ngek lang long haul from HK,  really.
Let's see,  Breakfast at Norma's, The Plaza, & Sarabeths at South Central Park.  Lunch at Jean Georges & Per Se. Etc etc. hay Naku, the excess body pounds. 
Laduree & the shopping around there.
5th Ave.,  and Tante with his cuentos & the shoes he reserves for me at Sak's.
The Met - always.   Where I said goodbye to someone.  Hahaha

maybe. next time mag-hoard na ko, haha!  dami kasi tao sa branch na pinuntahana namen (near WTC), hirap mag-ikot. The one in Columbus Avenue mas less ang crowd but then again, madami naman branch ito.

we went there (bronx zoo) but wala pa sa 1/2 yung naikot namin, haha! Late kasi kami nagpunta.

yun lang, haha!  but i think generally, mahirap talaga pag-winter no matter kung saang country ka pa. kelangan ko ma-experience para malaman ko, hehe!  hopefully makabalik ako this December. *fingers crossed*

^ako naman i dont like to live in new york city although my family lives there. its enough that i visit every so often. i must agree that the subway system is good, pero i dont like lang how some stations ang dumi ang ang kitid ng platform. my mom nga got pissed when i compared the subway stations are here, siya sobrang tanggol sa ny subway, cant blame her sobrang loyal yun sa nyc 

the c21 branch i go to is not in manhattan kasi dami daw lagi tao in those branches. i go to the one in NJ. if you want to go to Woodbury, theres a bus from port authority that goes there and back directly.
punta din kayo sa flushing, the park where one scene from MIB was shot, the one with the globe. meron din zoo sa central park and also an aquarium at long island that is worth visiting.

if i get the chance, i would also like to see how Rockefeller is lit-up during the holidays.
