All about Breastpumping part 3

sis gil12, ano bang brand ang preferred mo? honestly, mabigat yung avent. yung medela freestyle magaan yun. but one advantage of avent is that it is a closed system which means the milk will not be contaminated and will not go into your pump. i have a unimom allegro (which is lightweight but nasira kasi hinila and nabagsak ng baby ko) and avent isis iq duo.

sis m_lim,  medela is an open system which means milk may go inside the pump (unlike ameda, avent). all the parts naman is pwede i-sterilize. it's hygenic to use na once sterilized.

wala pa kasi sa akin yung pump. sa december ko pa makukuha sa SIL ko pag uwi nila from the U.S. second hand ito, gamit niya.

^sis try mo yung pigeon w/ peristaltic nipple nila. malambot and somehow greatly resembles our nips.dun naging okay si baby, walang nipple confusion. 2months din si baby nung nagbottle kami.

Mga sis, question din about storing breastpumps, saan nyo nilalagay pag di nyo ginagamit? Dba maexpose pag nakatiwangwang lang? wala kasi lalagyan yung akin..

^ nilalagya ko sa ziplock then sa insulated bag ko yung akin when i go to work, that's after i sterilize sa bahay. then evry after use sa office binabanlian ko ng maiinit ng water then dry tapos zip lock ulit.

yes, i love it. actually i plan to buy another unimom yung hospital grade. i can get 10oz in the morning with unimom while sa avent 7oz lang. naku, gusto ko na talaga ibenta yung avent ko. magkaextra lang ako. LOL.

yung flanges and tube lang ang need linisin. yung tube no need to sterilize, padaanan mo lang ng alcohol then dry it up. nothing to do with the pump. okay din yan sis. laking tipid mo.

iristacey, sa totoo lang sobrang clueless kasi ako sa magandang brand or model na breast pump. kailangan yata todo backread ako sa breastpumping thread. kahit gusto kong gumastos at gawing investment breastpump wala pa kasi ako idea sa magiging flow ng breast milk ko. mas okay kaya if I buy after I give birth? gusto ko sana double electric breast pump..

^i suggest after na lang. you need to establish your supply before pumping. i had unimom and avent, double electric pareho but i prefer the unimom over avent. nakakainis lang kasi nasira ni baby. bonggang bagsak. sad lang kasi out of warranty na. this is the advantage also of not buying agad while preggy pa lang. magrun na yung warranty. kapag wala na talaga, bibili na lang ako ulet ng unimom. medyo di ko gamay yung avent. nung una lang okay. nalalakasan ako eh. gusto ko na talagang ibenta. haaay.

Mommies, may nakakaalam ba ng local prices ng Medela Swing and Avent Single Electric? Online, mas mahal ang Medela by $70. Ito yung 2 na pinagpipilian ko. Mas maganda ba talaga ang Medela Swing than Avent to merit that difference? Or okay na ba yung Avent? Thanks!

according to this site, 9x /week maximum pwede gamitin ang breastpump. pag nag pump ba once or twice a day lang? akala ko kasi several times a day para ma empty yung breast for the day.

^nope. just airdry before using it. btw, for working moms like me, i pump 4x a day at work. i also pump before leaving the house since my baby prefers fresh ebm than refrigerated ones. my system is last in, first out. this is just to have him drink the freshest bm as much as possible. yung extra, i either donate or give to my pamangkin.

Hahahahaha...nakakatuwa naman pare pareho tayo nakaka experience niyan....about naman sa direct and bottle feeding, mas uncomfy ako sa bottle feeding plus the fact na tinatamad ako minsan maghugas ng horn and bottles. minsan nga nagsisisi ako bumili pa ako ng breast pump.  :-(

Maganda ba yun unimom kesa medela pump in style usually kasi 4 oz lang nakukuha ko for every pump in 10 mins, or siguro malakas lang talaga supply nyo.

Hi mommies,

I am going back to work in a few weeks. I have been direct feeding my 3 month old daughter, and i need help choosing an electric pump. I have a tommee tippee manual pump but honestly i can only get 4oz at a time and it's so tiring. I checked out Rustans and i really like the medela swing, but i dont like the price (13300+). I am considering the pigeon silent electric (9k) but i did some backreading and saw some comments about Unimom. Can anyone tell me about the Unimom pump? I am thinking of getting the Forte double electric from babymama. Is it noisy? :-/ i'm so lost! Would appreciate your feedback Thanks in advance!

sis ghichy, personal experience ko is i get better result with unimom than avent. most likely its because of the horns. mas maliit yung sa unimom and mas sealed while sa avent, it leaks kasi. medyo malaki sila sa akin. i just bought a pumpin pal super shield. sana it will work. otherwise, i may have to buy another unimom pump if my old unimom will not be repaired.

sis kaice, i asked babymama to check my pump kasi nga its not working properly anymore. she's very accommodating as ever.
