Hello po! Can those who have been to Myanmar recommend good hotels? Did you join a travel group? Thanks!

Went to Myanmar last Feb 2014. Don't bother staying long in Yangon, one day pwede na. Just see the Shwedagon Pagoda that's it. Then go straight to Bagan, it's amazing! Do a sunrise and sunset view over the pagoda landscape, it's surreal! When we were there in Feb, malamig yung weather sa Bagan. After Bagan, we went to Mandalay, nothing much to see din, just the white Kuthodaw pagodas. We didn't get to go to Inle Lake kase 5 days lang kami. Travel tip, stay longer in Bagan than Yangon and Mandalay. Medyo stuck in the 90s pa rin ang vibe sa Burma maybe because ngayon pa lang sila nag open up to tourism. But because of this, you'll feel genuine kindness from the people, parang nasa probinsya ka in the Phils. Ganun ang feeling. They are always smiling. I hope the Burmese remain that way.

Oh no sis don't take the train. I saw Anthony Bourdain took it on his Parts Unknown show, grabeng mauga! Kaya kami we travelled by overnight bus. Super comfy ng bus nila. May sarili pang flight attendant, blanket, disposable toothbrush, toothpaste, water, coffee and snacks. Yung seat parang lazy boy. Ang galing ng bus, makes you wonder bakit wala sa Pinas. Ang mura pa ng fare, parang php 700+ lang. That's a 10hr trip.  Hope this helps.

Yes we bought in advance c/o our hostel. They were selling it there. Chances are yung hostel or hotel nyo sells bus tickets din. They will call the bus company to make arrangements and pre book even the seats but you will pay sa hostel then get the bus tickets. Not sure is you can buy sa station itself.

Sis mejo unsettling yung natuluyan namin na hostel sa Yangon. I don't recommend it actually. Hahaha! It's Aung Si Guesthouse. Yung room may amoy galing sa CR. Try to find iba na mura rin, I'm sure meron. Nag tipid lang kami kaya dito kami napadpad. To be fair, dito pinaka friendly yung staff compared dun sa natuluyan namin in Bagan. Sa Mandalay kase bumawi kami, nag hotel na kami. hehe.

nag spark na naman ang desire ko to visit bagan after reading this thread, hay buhay bakit ang hirap yumaman ng makabili sana ng eroplano, hehe. plan plan lang pag may time. and i'll keep reading this thread :-) thanks sa mga nag she share ng mga experiences nila

We will be visiting Myanmar next year (January). kasama to sa bucket list ko! Good thing yung two way ticket na nakuha namin is nasa 2900 pesos lang.

hi paulavalerie, nice! airasia din yang ticket mo?  yung nakuha ko 1.3k php from kl to yangon. tapos 2k+ from mandalay to bangkok.  abang pa ako ng ticket ng manila-kl at bangkok-manila.. i read magkakaroon na ang cebu pac daw ng flights to myanmar. di ko lang sure kung kelan

May flights na ang cebu pac to Myanmar kaya lang super mahal. 7k papunta palang and then 7k din pabalik that's 14k agad plus taxes pa.

I wish they'd have a promo.. Plan ko sana magCambodia next year pero I would exchange this for Myanmar kung mura sana or if pwede magcross borders from Siem Reap to Yangon

sis, october to march lang ang hot air balloons sa bagan. medyo mahal din, $300 per person.
