Manual or Automatic transmission?

It depends siguro. Kasi ako i just always put it on Drive.

^gamay gamay din kasi sa driving kung saan komportable ang driver dun ka mapa manual or matic. sa una ita try mo parehong istilo kung san mo gusto un na gagawin mo.

i've been driving manual for almost 2 decades now and i'm thinking of switching to matic for my next car.
super nakakapagod at minsan masakit sa tuhod kahit malambot ang clutch pag heavy traffic and inaabot ng 2-3hrs. from makati to qc.

although for 1.3 engines mahina ang hatak talaga ng matic. i've tried driving the same car in matic and manual and there is a difference. sa mga bigger engines 1.8 up i don't think it will be a problem and technology now has come a long way. bihira na lang ata ang pumipili ng manual these days.

although i still suggest na dapat marunong ka mag manual in case that is the only car available and true na mas astig. guys are sometimes surprised pag nalaman nila na manual ang dina-drive ko. mas mahirap kasi.

^Hi Sissies. Ask ko lang is it nakakalito kng nag aral ka ng manual driving lessons tapos automatic yung i-drive mo na car later on? Yung car namin is 1.3E Vios AT 2015. Nag enroll and naka 2hrs (each) manual driving lessons na kasi kami. TIA

^if sanay ka sa manual since yun ang inaral mo sa umpisa as in pag sakay mo ng matic medyo maninibago ka. iba kasi ang kambyo. pero super makakapag adjust ka agad kasi lagay mo lang sa "D" aandar ka na unlike pag manual kailangan pa ng clutch tapos 1st gear then gas kung hindi pa sakto ang apak mo sa gas pwede ka pa mamatayan ng engine.

sa mga driving schools manual ang tinuturo kasi pag yun ang natutunan mo madali lang kahit lumipat ka sa automatic.

Ok lang yan. Better to study manual then go automatic later on than the other way ar ound AT is very easy. MT may "timpla" pang nalalaman.

as per TS' original concern (maintenance and fuel consumption) it's a common knowledge mas magastos talaga AT.

personally i will choose manual anytime. been driving a manual for 11 yrs now and every time nakakapagmaneho ako ng AT, nalolost ako ahaha di ko magets yung d(2) d3 d4 and apparently yung mga may-ari ng minamaneho ko di rin maspecify ang difference nila. kaya pag out of town tas uphill and mejo mahina ang makina, the experience is a bit unsatisfying, hehe. masaya lang talaga sha idrive pag super traffic, which i RARELY do. luckily with my circumstance may choice ako not to drive on everyday traffic hehe.

but yeah if you're the type who drives through crazy edsa every day, during rush hour, and you have the gas money and maintenance money then by all means, go for AT

Just got my new car today. Strada GLX 2.5L AT. Nakakapanibago hinahanap ng left foot ko yung clutch nung umpisa. Pag mag break napapa apak yung left ko sa break kasi sanay ako may inaapakan na clutch.
True nga na parang bump car lang pag AT.

I asked someone na car expert and he said not true daw na mas high maintenance ang automatic. Dati siguro yung mga old version pero yung mga bago hindi na. Mas mataas na daw ang cost ng manual lalo na pag nasisira ang clutch. And kadalasan sa mga first world they drive automatic rin so talagang nag improve na. Basta alaga lang sa ATF, change oil every 5k, right gasoline etc.

What i notice lang sa automatic cars iba iba ang itsura ng gears nila depende sa car brand. Like yung may d3 d4, o kaya yung mazda 3 na paliko liko ang controls niya. Sa strada naman P,R,N,D,2,L. I don't know what 2 and L does. Itatanong ko pa. Pag manual it looks the same for every car. Infairness super sarap mag drive ng automatic.

is it just me or is manual better for flooded area?  it was raining so hard awhile ago and i was able to traverse the timog area with ease.

not really sis. the trick for driving in flood for manual is don't change gears keep your gear steady and for automatic naman keep your gear to the lowest. iwasan mapasukan ng water ang muffler kaya dapat steady lang and drive in the middle lane as much as possible and iwasan sumabay or may kasalubong kasi tataas yung water sa side mo. got that tip while listening to dzmm radio station. hehe!

Not much diff for me in terms of driving sa flood ang matic or manual. Ang major difference lang nila is mas magastos ang matic pag tumirik.

A/T super dali idrive. Nasa "D" lang lagi yung shift gear. Other than that, R for reversing and P for parking. That's all i need to think of sa gears and so i can focus on other things na when driving.

^Yeah Sis sobrang dali haha! Yan din reason ko bakit AT ang pinili ko kase nerbyosa ako, ang iisipin ko na lang is yung mga traffic rules, di na kelangan yung timpla timpla pa.  Siguro kung nag-manual ako, up to now di pa rin ako nagdadrive.

But way forward I still want to learn to drive manual.

Kung ginagamit almost daily but well taken care of ang car, mga after how long nag uumpisa "magkasakit" ang car m/t vs a/t?
Or after anong mileage?

For me, AT! Lalong lalo na dito sa manila na sobrang traffic hindi advisable mag MT. Lol.

i think it depends sa klase ng pag drive and brand ng car and kung well maintained siya. i used to have a honda city manual 2009-2015 never nagka sira. now i own a mistubishi strada 2011-present never pa rin nagka sira. every change oil ko pinapa check ko lahat. ma ingat rin ako sa mga humps and i really read the manual of my car so i know the do's and don'ts.
