Manual or Automatic transmission?

Speaking of trying out manual again, I was so caught up with making sure I'm using the stick and pedals right, I bumped into a car parked on my left which was supposedly on plain sight.  My goodness!

I used to drive manual pero after trying matic I am never coming back to manual.

Nung na-try ko matic, very convenient nga pero ramdam ko parang ang hina ng hatak. Pang-city driving talaga.

mostly cars here in California is AT, although i know how to drive MT, my car is and AT.

all my life i've been driving a manual car.  planning to buy an automatic. a little scared though, ang dami na kasing bagong safety features ng automatic.  baka bigla na lang ako di maka andar, mangmang mode lang

Most of us prefer matic, pero pag gusto niyo ng control over your ride, manual is the best. Lady driver po ako at hindi ako natutong mag manual, pero aaral ako nito, dahil pag emergency at stick shift lang available, papaano na?

Can drive both MT and AT. But of course , I prefer AT .

from like more than 5 years of driving MT, it has been a year na of AT driving. And grabe ang dali dali lang ng AT pala. Parang scooter nga lang ang feeling ko na dinadrive sa dali. And i was like, damn, why did we made tiis for so many years sa manual! lol..but then there could be situations, like joining the amazing race lol, where stick driving pa din so IDK if alam ko pa mag drive ng manual. pag upo mo ba balik sa manual, automatic balik uli yung alam mong pagdadrive ng manual?

Learned to drive by manual but a week after driving school, switched to automatic kasi puro matics na cars namin eh. Ayaw na ng parents magdrive ng manual. Matanda na kasi sila at masakit na daw paa nila LOL

Manual hehe... Natuwa nga ako kasi yung guy na kapitbahay namin sabi nya sa akin, ang galing ko daw nakaya ko daw yung manual tapos babae pa ko. Samantalang siya automatic minamaneho niya hehe...

Are the rental price for MT and AT almost the same? I wanted to rent but I'm a bit scared of the streets/freeway because I only had like 20 hours of school driving a MT in the traffic zone of Metro Manila.

Manual for our workhorse pickup truck, matic for my daily cruiser. Years ago, manual cars were considered more fuel efficient, but recently, I noticed matic cars have caught up. The technology has improved by leaps and bounds. Now, you can hardly tell the difference between the fuel consumption of manual vs. matic.

^I feel though that MT is more efficient. Earlier this year, I changed from Vios 1.3E MT to Vios 1.3E AT. For the former, it's around 10-12 km/l, for the latter, around 8km/l.

But maybe yung way ng pag compute ko lang ang mali.

I drive matic mga 3 years na pero 8 years manual..
Babalik ako sa manual.... Kuripot ako feel ko mas matipid [textspeak!] ang manual..

hehe but yes i prefer manual pero dahil sa current traffic situation ng manila, choosing matic is a no brainer!

Question sa matic drivers.... Lets say theres light traffic.. Mga 2minute wait time.. Do you out your gears in neutral then tapak break / neutral then handbreak or... Nakadrive lang pero nakaapak sa brakes?
Pag heavy traffic.. Ano gawa niyo?

manual driver here since 2009  kasi matipid sa gas at maintenance. nilalaro laro ko lang ang gas at clutch para di mamatayan and it works for me. si hubby ang sabi mga guys mas type ang manual kasi mas naiiarangkada nila ang sasakyan kesa daw sa matic. well wala naman akong passion for speed pero manual pa din type ko kasi gusto ko fuel efficient ang sasakyan.

I'm used to MT but I appreciate AT in heavy traffic or uphill situations. Been buying AT lately though

^^^If there's a bit of a wait time, I put the gear on neutral then handbrake. Formed habit from driving manual, I guess -- no way will I stay on gear and my feet on clutch and brakes if I'm idling in a manual car.

i asked kasi.. nakibadebate ako sa  commenter ng  top gear.. he said. ang bobo daw nung mga nagkeclaim ng SUA.. human error daw yun dahil daw.. di na daw dapat nilalagay sa N. brakes lang daw dapat palagi,.. sabi ko naman.. ha? top gear na mismo nagsabi na mas better ilagay sa neutral on light traffics para di forward ng forward yung car.. tapos pinipigilan naman ng brakes.. para saan ang neutral pala kung ganon? sabi niya... wala daw use yon.. kapag itotow lang daw.. pag nagNeutral daw palagi masisira daw transmission.... 

parang nalito nako.. so i googled.. 50% uses neutral then brakes or hand brakes.. 50% says still on Drive apply brake... (cuase in other countries daw illegal daw na ilagay sa Neutral )

i checked my car's manual.. picturan ko sana para maipost sa kadebate ko pero walang nakalagay don na to use neutral then brakes.. wala rin nakalagay na Drive lang then brake..

pero sakin.. Neutral then brake/handbrakes parin ako... parang mas komportable lang..
